Hi all, Just thought I'd throw it out there that I have a sealed copy of the 40757 Corner Kiosk GWP that I don't particularly want. Not willing to ship, only willing to meet in-person and exchange; I'm in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. I'll ask below the asking price for it. I might be willing to trade other Lego for it as well. I get that there are better ways to go about selling but I really don't feel like making a new account anywhere so this is the amount of effort I'm willing to put in. No harm in it just sitting in my closet. Let me know if you're interested.

Ok, so it’s not a new technique, only new to me… still came out great though! -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
CardinalBricks replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Oh my gosh the Tudor Corner is such an upgrade from the past few modulars. I think it's the best one since Detective's Office, and the first one I'll have bought since the Bookshop in 2020. The building techniques in this are insane, from the diagonal tiles, to the upside-down turntable for the stovetop to the SNOTed interior staircase which uses the slight bracket overhang to condense the footprint. The exterior is handsome, warm-feeling, and the colors and layers play off of each other beautifully (I especially think the chimneys really bring it all together). My favorite interior bit is definitely the clockmaker’s workspace! I think that’s such a brilliant idea because we as Lego fans tinker in a lot of those same ways, so it's meaningful without being so outright like the Lego fan’s apartment in the town square set. Not to mention it adds so much “vibe” factor to the build as a whole. I do think some areas look a bit haphazard though. A general rule I've learned from making my own modulars is that upper floor facades should not be taller than the ground floor's facade because it will end up looking a bit weird and top-heavy, like a stick figure with a long torso and small legs; and that's how I would characterize the haberdashery building. The entrance archway is cut short by the sign and then we get a super tall bay window right above, and the grey striping on the sides only emphasizes the height. I think if they had taken another crack at it by putting the sign on the same plane as the dark tan section of the Inn, it would have worked out for the better visually. I also don't think the colors on the back seem very well planned out, but I do like the way the tan and dark grey work out for the interiors though. -
LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
CardinalBricks replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I think the sail barge is just exceptional. I dare say I wouldn't change a thing about it. I will die on the hill that monochromatic LEGO models can be interesting to look at, even beautiful, so long as there is adequate ***texture*** throughout, and there absolutely is here. Efforts to add color to builds that really shouldn't have them always fall flat for me – Barad Dur comes to mind and its lava reflection gimmicks. But of course this isn't completely monochromatic because the top section is all dark bluish grey, which looks perfect to me, because the color of the in-universe thing is probably part reddish brown and part dark bluish grey, which is exactly what you see when you glance at this model. The interior feels equally as inspired. The tiled floors, the small details, the way it progresses from dinginess on the left side to opulence on the right, capped off with those amazing nougat lamp posts around the Max Rebo organ. The figures are great too and I don't have a problem with the amount included or the variety. I like that everyone has a place somewhere in the set. A RotJ-accurate Boba Fett would have been a perfect inclusion though. I really like the new Jabba print, particularly the eyes, which look a bit more wacky and lifelike than before (salacious crumb's eyes are definitely a downgrade though). Leia's dual molded legs work for me because it was a bit weird having just the flesh color on the back before. Maybe they could have printed a flesh tone on the side of the legs over top of the red to help with the accuracy, but that might have turned out bad in practice. The opening act of RotJ is one of my favorite things ever, seeing all the silly creatures always brings me so much joy. It's gonna be really hard for me to pass up on this so I will probably get it, but the price will be a tough pill to swallow. -
The galaxy may be swept in the turbulence of the Clone Wars during 21 BBY, but Luthen Rael is a prospering botanist and antique collector on Coruscant. Years before he would proclaim "I burned my life to make a sunrise I know I'll never see," and "I've made my mind a sunless space" he would transform a murky building in the sunless space of lower Coruscant into an artist's sanctuary, opening the first iteration of his Galactic Antiquities and Objects of Interest shop there. Rael's Jedi friend Flank Juno helped decorate the exterior of the building in vibrant graffiti and, as the two have been having frequent discussions concerning the increasing tyranny of the Galactic Republic, Juno has taken to showing Rael some survival skills, including self-defense techniques and how to use a blaster. I begun work on this MOC in May with a more ambitious concept in mind; two parallel streets converging at a vanishing point and a forced perspective micro-scale cityscape in the background. I became unexpectedly busy this month, so that vision was not able to happen, but I still wanted to take some of the more finished sections and quickly make them into a presentable display for this contest. Thanks for looking; my original vision or no, I had a lot of fun with this.

[M4-24 - The Phantom Menace] Naboo Swamp

This is a great little display piece. You did a great job updating the original set using modern parts/sensibilities, but still maintaining the essence of the old set—including the green whip was a great idea in that respect. -

[M4-24 - Coruscant] - Coruscant Lower Markets
CardinalBricks replied to SevenSevenSeven's topic in Watto's Junkyard
I really like that you broke up the monotonous light bley walls (which is of course necessary in a representation of Coruscant) with pipes, cavities, interesting textures, and other colors. Especially in that corridor that 3PO and R2 are walking through, it is so atmospheric with the crumbling wall. The market setting is brilliant as well, because of course there would be all sorts of vendors on that planet. This is one of my favorite Coruscant MOCs I've seen. -
[M4-24 - The Phantom Menace] Now This Is Podracing
CardinalBricks replied to Danny_Boy4's topic in Watto's Junkyard
Wow I never realized how incredibly well the N-1 would work in micro scale since you're able to get the metallic silver in there, it looks phenomenal! I also like that you used the diorama design TLG uses with their official sets, this would probably display really nicely with those. Amazing photographs as well, I want to add. I thought these were digital renders at first until I saw the stress marks on some of the bricks. What is your process for getting the images to look like this? -
Davy Jones on the Pirates of the Caribbean Disneyland Ride What better way to spend a summer weekend than to visit The Happiest Place On Earth? After more than a year at sea, the abominable Davy Jones and his sinister first mate Maccus opted for a much deserved break; and spent most of their booty while they were at it.

[M4-24 - Duel of the Fates] - The Last Command: Finale

I adore the Vornskr hound build! You could get some fun ideas about how to make a brick-built xenomorph from that, I reckon. That Mara Jade is perfect too. -

I second what Sentinel_Brix said! Flickr is a great way to do images here on Eurobricks. Plus you can have photos of all your builds handy on there and you can have a "portfolio" of sorts. To get a bit more specific about what to do (I don't know about you but I am not the most tech literate person out there), upload your pics on there, click into one, click the downward arrow icon next to the shopping cart, click "view all sizes," select the image size you want, then right click on it and select "copy image address". Then when you're on Eurobricks, click "insert other media" off to the right, select "insert image from URL" and paste the link in. That's how I do it anyway. I like your minifigs a lot, also the wavy tree and the imaginative world building. Great job! -
Basically the troopers knew something was up when Flank decided to get out of there, and they attempted to shoot him down so the details of the secret meeting don't get out (due to the accident, these troopers have more than a couple screws loose). The "admiral" made a deal with Ki-Adi Mundi (a notoriously scummy Jedi, if you know the ~lore~ haha) to procure the scroll in exchange for money and other perks. But the troopers had never met Mundi before, so when they saw Flank, for all they knew it was him, he just showed up earlier than scheduled. It is certainly fan fiction adjacent, and I did get a bit carried away with it haha. The story will be continued in my Coruscant build... only a month left so I'd better get going on that.

[M4-24 - Duel of the Fates] - Ultimate Fate
CardinalBricks replied to Mandalorianknight's topic in Watto's Junkyard
Some amazing figures here—which is the point of this category after all! I would give this a lot of points for the "technical ability" metric if I were a contest judge (Superman heat vision/Bruce Banner hulking out heads, the various elements used for lightsaber blades, dynamic poses). You really brought the goofy EU vibes with this and I'm all for it. -
Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion
CardinalBricks replied to Momotof's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I completely agree with what you both say about the detailing on the tower after the rocks looking off. I think there are just too many things with the set that don't meet my expectations that I would end up heavily MOCing it. Is it still worth getting for the parts/minifigs? Maybe? I'm not really sure. I'm inclined to hold off on it. $460 is more than I spent on all the Lord of the Rings sets I own combined, and even then it's not like I bought them all at once. Going through the Bricklink pages of parts available in pearl dark grey, I think making a rock section in that color may be more possible than I initially thought. It will be a challenge for sure, but building under part constraints is kind of the bread and butter MOC making anyway. -

CardinalBricks replied to Momotof's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Wow, with that side-by-side comparison I'm realizing that it is definitely the color of the rock section in the middle that is throwing me off about the look of the Lego model. I wonder if it would look better if they were a uniform dark bley? Though probably the ideal color would be pearl dark grey (but that would not feasible of course). -
I would like my username changed to "CardinalBricks" if possible! Thank you!

[MOC] Delta-7 Jedi Starfighter • Minifig-Scale
CardinalBricks replied to FlyInSpace's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Putting those new 2x1 18° slopes to immediate use... I love it! I am a Star Wars ship builder as well and I like your technique of having the edge of the wings be a layer of plate and tile, and then introducing the SNOT after that. It's always tough to get wings and panels to be as thin as possible and of course the outer edges matter most visually. Might take a crack at a MOC of this ship as well. -
It is 21 BBY and the Clone Wars have engulfed the galaxy. Malastare, home world of the Dug species and a major chokepoint for the Republic due to its vast fuel reserves, is also being harvested for important artifacts by Gran colonizers, who enjoy complete governing power over the planet. Gran authorities, seeing an opportunity to capitalize on the growing interest in Malastare among Coruscant’s high society, are erecting a museum in the heart of Coruscant, which will exhibit elements of Dug culture—against the species’ wishes. The curator, the traitorous Dug Minjei Binda, has succeeded in acquiring many artifacts for the exhibition; including, most consequentially of all, the Book Of The Doge Zalan Croy and the Ma’ar Emblem. But the remains of the ancient Scroll of Utaka, fortelling the prophecy of the final Zillo Beast, lie undisturbed, protected, for now, by the Dug elders. Knowing that Binda is after them, the elders have enlisted help from Dugs For Democracy, a Coruscant-based advocacy group who have a useful contact: an antique dealer who, with his Jedi Knight companion, can be found carrying out clandestine projects, performing acts of justice in the wake of the Republic’s tightening iron grip. The mission? To send Flank Juno, Jedi Knight, to retrieve the scrolls from Dug elder P’tu Kroznic and deliver them to the advocacy group, where they will be transported safely off-world… Flank Juno arrives on a speeder with his droid companion, LP-33. “You’re coming with me, LP. You know Luthen won’t be too happy if I don’t have you recording the intell.” They enter the cave. “Excuse me… hello?” Kroznic appeared from the shadows. “I am Flank Juno,” the Jedi stoically declared. “I am with your friends on Coruscant, Dugs for Democracy. And I have come to collect the scroll.” Kroznic paused for a moment. “Get out, Jedi slime.” “But it’s me, Flank Juno. I’m here to collect the scroll and deliver it promptly to your contact on Coruscant. You are P’tu Kroznic, are you not?” “If I am P’tu Kroznic, then you are Bantha fodder!!” Juno sensed footsteps outside. “Shhh! The troopers aren’t far, y’know.” “What do I care, Jedi? You’re on the same side of this war. And neither side recognizes my people—” “—And the problem of your people now is not whether to follow the rulebook of the Republic, but to think twice about spitting, or having a mynock roast, or walking out at night. I believe Luthen when he says that. I do not believe the Jedi council when they say we must all align ourselves with power.” A somber expression washed over the brow of the stubborn quadruped. “We won’t be needing you, Jedi. We are not helpless, or strangers to terror… we have endured, and we will endure long after the Republic has fallen.” Just then, a trooper of Oshira-5, a squadron in charge of patrolling the area during non-activity hours, stepped into the cave. The Oshira-5 were involved in a chemical fire on Oshira while completing a mission at the start of the war, which left their bodies damaged and in need of highly specialized respirator devices to breathe. The lieutenant attempted to shield his army from the explosion and, naturally, endured the worst of it; his left arm, amputated, and his face, deformed and misshapen, no longer able to fit a helmet. That said, the squadron was thankful to be alive, because these days, the Republic would rarely use expenditures to rehabilitate its clone troopers. The clone followed the mysterious voices, which, although they had halted, still carried through the shimmering red dust of the caves, and revealed the location of the meeting. “Greetings, Jedi. Dug, leave us alone,” the trooper said. “This doesn’t concern you.” As the trooper turned his back to signal to his lieutenant, the Elder promptly placed the scroll into the droid. “It’s coming soon,” he whispered in a gossamer-thin cadence. “The scroll says the last beast will rise very soon. Let them know it’s not safe here.” And P’tu Kroznic scurried away. “You’re early, sir,” the lieutenant said. Juno looked at the clone bewildered, wondering what he could possibly be referring to. “But it's nice finally to meet you, Master Mundi. Thank you for agreeing to use your Jedi ways in service of acquiring this… valuable artifact. Curator Binda will compensate you generously. And of course, as part of the agreement, the Admiral will get you access into all the finest—” “—That won’t be necessary, lieutenant” Juno said definitively. “In fact I was just on my way out. C’mon LP, let’s go.” And the heroes hurried to the speeder, and the unstable troopers nodded assuredly at each other, and loaded their blasters. And they shot at the Jedi as he escaped, and a shockwave gripped his synapses like iron, an omen from the future, a warning of the impending catastophe of which this was a microcosm, and the blaster noises echoed through the sand for miles into the night… ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thanks for looking at my entry for the May the Fourth contest! I hope you enjoyed the MOC and the story I came up with. I have a screenshot of the speeder bike design in stud.io, in white for better visibility. I also made the entire MOC in stud.io to ensure it was no more than 100 pieces; I ended up using all 100.

I've held off on Rivendell because, as beautiful as that set is, I have all the fellowship minifigures from the original theme and I much prefer those. Also the set/source material uses so many different colors I feel like I could make a large Rivendell MOC with just my available parts. It's on the bucket list. But Barad-dûr is a different story; I would need to buy a whole lot of black elements to make something like this. And honestly I can't resist having this to complement my Tower of Orthanc. I will purchase this set within the GWP window and then give it to myself for Christmas, probably. I don't have room to display it right now anyway. Everyone who has the 79007 Black Gate set sure is sitting pretty right now... that would look amazing right in front of this model and do a good job covering up the slightly-too-colorful (in my opinion) base. I reeeally needed this to include a Gandalf The White and a RotK Aragorn to make myself not feel too bad about missing out on that one. But I'm pleased we got the Mouth of Sauron at least. Not sure I'm sold on the orange gradients. The top of the tower looks great but in other areas the effect looks tacky. In one of the lifestyle photos you can spot the perimeter of the section just above the entrance and it goes brown stripe->dark orange stripe->white stripe->brown stripe, and it looks like some kind of mid-century modern futon cover. I think Orthanc demonstrated that you can have a monochromatic model that still looks interesting if you include enough textures and interesting angles. I'll shut up after this, but it is interesting to me that they chose to omit pupils on Gollum and to include them on the two orcs. I think that was the wrong choice for both, but that's definitely just the fault of the nostalgia goggles; I'm really just so used to the minifigure designs from the original theme. -
This is so brilliant! I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the entries from the duel of the fates category the most because that prompt encourages the moc maker to do some world building and get the creative juices flowing in a different way. I love that you kept the characters more or less aligned with their canon dark/light side allegiances, just inverted the hegemony. It's very thought provoking. I also like that Palpatine got the chancellorship gig because he's immune to Jedi mind tricks—hilarious but makes perfect sense. That's a really cool interpretation of a post-Mustafar but non-Vader Anakin. Definitely my favorite figure here. Great MOC!

Hahaha, I went to that exact location my freshman year of college when some dorm friends and I ventured down to Baton Rouge for spring break. Good times. And good MOC of course! I love that you have those industry-standard floor mats represented with grille tiles, that's perfect.
