  1. Sorry about bumping up the old thread. I was searching for another post, saw this and forgot that I wasn't looking at recent posts... And I've got a bit of a soft spot for McD's, since it helped feed my Lego habit for several years... Steve
  2. Its a little boxy and plain. Especially when you compare it to the official modular buildings. You need all kinds of texture and, for lack of a better term, greebles. Its also a bit short. It lacks the architectural grace and style of the Cafe Corner style buildings. It is more suitable to a strip-mall setting. I really don't like the palm fronds. And the 1x1 round plates stuck in the technic bricks really aren't doing it for me. You've got some good elements, like the slopes at the base, but you need more. Steve

    Cafe Corner MOI

Thanks for all the kind words. Nothing on the grill yet. I think it just looks that way because I put trans-red and trans-orange under the grills. Really? I figure this would be pretty much old hat by now. It is very small. The booth-bench nearest the front, though you can't see it in the pictures doesn't have a back. I agree. I think I'm just going to take the whole thing out. Maybe put in a beverage set-up... Steve
  4. I smurfed up an interior for the Cafe Corner's first floor: http://www.flickr.com/photos/37777874@N06/...57623148781814/ Steve
  5. If it wasn't for the stickers, this would be a great set. Steve
  6. I don't know what you are all smurfing about... Smurf
  7. I wonder if you could smurf out some way for them to ride alligators... Steve
  8. Anyone interested in trading some brickmaster sets? I'd prefer to stay US only to save on shipping costs. I've got these extra: -20008 Creator Tow Truck: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=20008-1 -20009 Star Wars Mini AT-TE: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=20009-1 -20012 Bionicle Click: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=20012-1 -20013 Mini Atlantis Sub: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=20013-1 And I'd especially like these -20004 Indy Jeep: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=20004-1 -20006 Clone Turbo Tank: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=20006-1 -20007 Republic Attack Cruiser: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=20007-1 Steve
  9. I concur. Post-WW1 and pre-WW2. Steve
  10. This is a silly topic, bit with a subtitle like 'please read!', I should have known what I was getting in to... Anyhow, you've left out PoP. which is the one that interests me the most... Steve
  11. My mother-in-law lives near there... Of course she'll probably move out to California right before the park opens... Steve
  12. I bet you could pour them into a crevase in a MOC and make a pretty cool looking river (or lake) of sulfuric acid... Steve
  13. I got the Indy Fighter Plane Attack from my sister; the Family Home from my mother; and theFire Brigade from my wife. And our baby got her first Duplo set... And my wife's father got me a lego ice tray. Steve
  14. I think we've found our next adventurers subtheme. Johnny digs up old threads. Steve
  15. Here is some inspiration for you. Steve
  16. I just wish the shop wasn't so lopsided. I tried to even it up by pushing the one side down in the snow, but the baseplates all popped loose. And, since I didn't want to risk losing pieces in the snow, I just went with it lopsided. Steve
  17. Someone suggested putting it in the snow. And it snowed here today. So: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Athos/Xm...oyshopsnow1.jpg Steve
  18. I'm going to direct you to my response in another thread. It was written as kind of a response to both of the posts. Steve
  19. However it looks good to you. Steve
  20. The same way you get to Carnegie Hall: location, location, location... No wait, that's practice, practice, practice. Anyhow, my advice is: Just do it. Don't ask a bunch of questions. At least not broad ones like these. Everyone is different, so you're not going to get a good answer. (If you want to ask how to do a specific technique, ask away). There is no comprehensive guide on how to build good MOCs or make great Lego movies. You just have to give it a go and see how it turns out. Building with Lego isn't like baking a cake where you can follow a recipe. You just have to build and see what works. And don't set your sights too high. I have a ton of Lego and rarely build on anything larger than a 32x32 baseplate. Start small. If you want to make movies, do a short skit, don't try for an epic film. And nobody around here (well probably almost nobody) gets things with no trouble. You've got to work at it. I'm not really sure what you're getting at. If you mean you want more Lego, then we all have to budget, prioritize and sacrifice other expenses for our bricks. If you're talking about building a great MOC easily, you're not going to get that either (if that is what you are after, you will have to stick to the official sets with instructions). All great MOCs take a lot of thought, planning and experimentation. They're not something you throw together in an afternoon. So, if you're really serious about it: just build. Steve
  21. My wife did a local public service announcement for the free bus service on New Years Eve in 2007. And I was in the background of a cable access commercial for the local McDonalds in highschool. Steve
  22. My final CCC7 entry: The usually sleepy seaside town comes to life when a ship comes in. The galleries: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=413310 http://www.flickr.com/photos/37777874@N06/...57622915378677/ Steve
  23. Hillarious! I especially like the guys' hats. The floor boards are nice too. Steve
  24. Well they deleted the list from classic-castle as leaks from a dealer catalog. Which suggests to me that the list is accurate. Steve
  25. Sounds like a total rehash of the first crownie line: 7946 Kings Castle (http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7094-1) 7947 Prison Tower Rescue (http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7093-1) 7948 Outpost Attack (http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7091-1) 7949 Prison Carriage Rescue (http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7092-1) 7950 Knights Showdown (http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7009-1) Steve
