I'm not a big collector of Lego Starwars all I have is the Jabbas Palace sets and sail barge. But I'd also buy a Cantina set. I know they made a set called Mos Eisley Cantina in 2003 but really all that it included was a seat and an archway. That set mainly concentrated on the outside of the Cantina. What i really want is a Cantina scene that focuses on the interior with the bar, Wuhrer [bartender], Ponda baba, Dr Evazen, The Figrin Dan Band on a pedestal, Chewy, Han, Luke, Ben and Greedo. Its one of the key scenes from Starwars and there should have been a set based around the interior of the Cantina by now.

I think the Simpsons if there is anymore sets after the house would run along the lines of Spongebob. Lego Spongebob released about 3 sets every year for 4 or 5 years. Instead of a full wave of 6-10 sets all in one year. Bring the biggest and best set out first that will help to pay for the franchise rights. Then release smaller sets over a few years with other buildings and character. It could work. And i heard that there is a Lego themed Simpsons episode coming out this year. [could be a rumour]

I have bought many of the Lord of The rings sets but mainly for parts. I'm not a huge fan of the movies or books but i do like the new pieces and designs of the figures. I've collected all the castle sets from the 80's and all from the mid 2000's so flesh tones don't fit into those castles. I've been replacing the flesh tones with yellow faces that suit the face and expressions on the original flesh heads. Here's my little yellow elf army http://www.flickr.com/photos/83062844@N05/11367820746/ The figures and parts look great. [after a bit of colour adjustment on the faces and hands] . but the sets I'm not really impressed with.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures - The LEGO Movie Series Discussion
dyntar replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
ok.. well its not thrilling me. I collect mainly historical figures or parts that look historical. I have no use for any of the parts used on the construction workers, police or the robo beehive woman.. The rest of the figures i'd get just for the faces and a few other bits. Theres no army builders and very little I can use in castle or roman scenes. A couple of the ladies wear great dresses but one of them is spoilt by having a grey skin colour. And going by previous waves the figures I want will be 2 per box lol. i think I'll see the movie first before I buy the figures. -

On Friday I managed to pick up a couple of LOTR sets at reduced prices. My local Target is clearing out its LOTR sets. Council of Elrond reduced to $49 and Mirkwood spiders for $34. There was also the 20% Sale price off on top of that. Ended up paying $27.20 for Mirkwood and $39.20 for Elrond. The reduced prices weren't advertised on the shelves. The boxes only had a small clearance price sticker on them. -

My local Toyworld got 3 of the castle sets in today. The kings Castle, gatehouse and prison cart. They also had series 11 figs in stock. -
This is just my guess but I think the power plant set will just involve Homers office/console with a glassed radioactive room to the side. Homer in Radiation suit with green rod, Smithers and Mr Burns. The cooling towers might just be shown as stickers on the wall appearing as a window. That way you wouldn't have to worry about building the cooling towers but can see exactly where the set is supposed to be.

Has anyone thought that the reason why they are doing Terri and Sherri is that its the cheapest way to add 2 children from the school. They can basically include 2 identical copies of the same figure and count it as a different figure. If they had included a different child Lego would have had to make a different head. I wonder how much Lego paid for the license for this line? Do you think that they got the license cheaper because its no longer a popular TV show?

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11 Rumours & Discussion
dyntar replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I really like this set. There's a good mix of characters and some great designs. And it looks like we get 4 different figures with arm printing, that's a record for the CMF line. Despite what everyone else thinks, I really like the barbarian. I can see a lot of uses for him as a viking, gladiator or even as a barbarian. My favourite figures of this series are the Barbarian, scarecrow, tiki warrior, elf, constable and the cat. The only figures I'm not interested in are the 2 robots and the mountain climber. Is the bavarian girl wearing a hairpiece from the friends line? -
Awesome work. Great layout and so much to see. I especially like Optimus Prime driving down the street.

Review: The Lone Ranger 79108 - Stagecoach Escape
dyntar replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Licensed
Great review..The set has great figures probably the best in the whole lone ranger series.. but I have a problem with the stage coaches proportions. The wheels are larger than a person. The first step to get into the carriage is chest height.. and when you stand on the first step, the floor of the carriage is at eye height. Now i might be wrong but that might seem a tad difficult for someone to get into the carriage.- 39 replies

Today I managed to pick up a couple of Bag End sets for $69each and a Warg attack for $59 from my local Kmart. Pity that they only had those 2 sets because I never did get the Goblin King set. -
I just want Figrin D'an or any Bith... from the cantina

Thoughts on the Scorpion Pyramid (7327)
dyntar replied to Andy D's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I bought two copies of the scorpion pyramid so that I could build a pyramid. Using the instructions I built them both and joined them together to build a fully enclosed pyramid. But I found there was no way to use the base plate. The pyramid ended up looking wrong because of the steepness of the front. I wanted the base as a perfect square so instead I used a 32x32 base plate and built the pyramid. I used the same style as used in the set but replaced the panels on the sides with bricks. I still haven't found a use for the baseplate. -
Legends of Chima future tribes ideas.
dyntar replied to DarkSurgeXL's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I'd definitely want Pandas and Orangutans would be cool if they had long arms. Could also have a Koala tribe and Tasmanian Devils. -
Sorry if this is just my slightly modified repost from the other site. "Won't someone please think of the children!" Mrs Lovejoy. The Simpsons is a better choice than Family guy or Southpark. The sets that they make won't be from any specific episode or be from any specific scene. Its just going to be a building with a few characters. Its not like Lego will make Moe's with beer swilling action or golf course with Homer and Marge figure inside the windmill. Just like they didn't do a decapitation of Count Dooku set or Boromir surrounded by Uruk hai with bows. If they can make such violent or adult franchises such as:- Pirates of the Carribean, rum drinking, undead pirates stabbing each other and getting blown up. Lord of the Rings?? way to many adult moments to count Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Samurai weapons and fighting in every episode Star Wars - multiple Limbs hacked off in the movies, The clone wars is all about death and war. Spongebob- Has anyone actually watched how many times Squidward gets blown up or Spongebob gets the top of his head ripped off or his brain pulled out. Prince of Persia, Indiana Jones - guns, swords multiple deaths.. Harry Potter - how many characters got killed off? Even the Castle sets had taverns The Simpsons is pretty tame compared to some of the other franchises. The Simpsons is basically a multi-cultural neighbourhood with brightly coloured houses. A family living in a nice house in a town with some interesting characters. Maybe it needs more Death, weapons and violence. Lego is not going to show anything that is going to upset anyone. Its just a depiction of characters made in a Lego form! No story line just bricks. Shouldn't we be happy?
-
I'd buy the sets even though i rarely watch the show anymore. The Simpsons would be a pretty easy line to put together. All Lego would really need to do is make some new molds for the heads. The houses in the show already look like they are built out of Lego. Although The Simpsons is no longer in its prime and probably hasn't been for over 10 years. This line could work as the Spongebob line has. Releasing a few sets every couple of years. Maybe Lego is just trying to buy the Simpsons franchise before another block company takes it. Just make the powerplant, Simpsons house, Flanders house, Kwiki mart, part of the school with School bus and Moes [Yes its a bar but Lego has made plenty of Taverns in the castle and POTC lines] Those few sets ought to cover most of the show.

I've collected almost every Castle set since 84. So its not the most exciting castle theme Lego has ever done.. but its definitely not the worst. This castle theme is just to keep people and kids happy until the Lotr's has gone away. When the hype of Lotr's has gone the Lego castle sets will likely go back to their style and standard of sets we got in Kingdoms. People keep complaining that they wanted Falcons, Forestmen or Wolfpack back. Why would Lego release some Wolfpack or Falcon castle sets that people really wanted? If they released fantasticly designed castles with great factions that everyone wanted to buy. People would be buying those instead of buying the LOTR sets. I'm guessing Lego has paid a lot of money to get the license to Lotr's. So why would they release a competing product that will cut down on their own profits?
-
While I don't hate the sets. I do think they could have been better. This seems like a combination of Kingdoms, crownies, lions, dragons and bull factions thrown into one theme. The castle looks good for what it is and we get a different sword in gold for the king. The armour on the kings men is an interesting mixture with the crown, the lion, the scale mail armour and tunic with leather strap. plenty of variation. The princess looks pretty good. It will be good to see some close ups of the printing on the dragon faction.
-
I can't really say if they are selling well in Australia as most people would be importing the LOTR sets from over seas. Its much cheaper to import them than to actually buy from the stores here. I did go into 4 department stores and toy stores on Christmas Eve, basically the Lego shelves were bare apart from a few Ninjago spinners and the largest LOTR and Hobbit sets. I guess people just aren't willing to buy the big sets for their kids. At $100 au for the Warg set I don't blame the parents.

The Mill Village Raid 7189 has a lot of useful parts if you are planning on building civilian houses. There's a lot of brown pieces and you also get some great animals.
-
I think that the white horse is part of the Lone Ranger display. by the way is the dragon the exact same as the Fantasy era Dragon or is it now red instead of being dark red. It looks brighter according to the picture of it on the wall from the toy fair.

Issues with window on set 79003 An Unexpected Gathering, help?
dyntar replied to mpaisana's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I got the loose fitting window in my set. It fits no where near what its supposed to look like on the box. I actually had to recheck the instructions while building it.. I thought I had missed a part. I'm not bothered to ask for replacement parts as I'm likely to take the hobbits hole apart pretty soon. I need the spare parts.
