  1. I have to agree that this is also my favourite chima set. The rest of the sets I have only been interested because of the figures. But this one also had an awesome vehicle. I mainly only collect things that will fit in with my historic/ fantasy sets and I must say that the Eagles are a welcome addition to the minifig line. Eris is my favourite character of all of the Chima sets.
  2. To me that shape on the shield looks like the outline of the Lego Dragons head. It has too many points on the top of its head for it to be a wolf. I hope they do more to the shield than just having a black background, silver edging with bolts in the corners and a red dragons head on the front. Lego should put some sort of texture on the black otherwise its going to be a very unexciting shield.
  3. I saw the Hobbit sets in Target in VIC this afternoon. They had everything apart from the Barrel set. Hobbits house was $118, Warg set was $99, Mirkwood Spiders $49.95 and the Gollum set $19.. I'm not sure on the price of the Troll King set. The prices of the set seemed a bit high to me. $19 for Gollum a hobbit and a handfull of bricks is expensive. it was cheaper than that for Gandalf a horse+cart with a hobbit.
  4. There's 14 of them for sale on Bricklink.com at the moment. http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?q=5986 if that helps
  5. It would make sense for them to re-release the Kings castle from the kingdoms line especially if we are getting Dragon Mountain. I'm guessing the Dragon Mountain is the Dragon factions fortress atop a mountain. Then we get a castle for each faction. No actual Dragons just a fortress that is owned by the Dragon Faction. We have already had a few dragon buildings.. its time the Dragon Faction had a proper fortress... They don't seem the type to have a castle.
  6. Although I'm slightly biased being a classic castle fan and not a mega fan of LOTR. I like the Lego sets that aren't character based. LOTR has never quite cut it for me as a castle theme. LOTR is mainly about having to get each set so that you get the characters in the books/ movies. Those figures are too restrictive. You pick up a minifig from the LOTR range and you can automatically picture how he or rarely she would act according to the movies or books.. Where if you pick up a fig from the castle range the character is entirely up to the individual. I prefer the Lego unique figures where you get to decide who and what they do. Bring back the Castle theme!... Kingdoms has not finished yet. I want to see the Dragons hideout. More medieval town based sets would be awesome. And maybe a return of the Black Falcons.
  7. Isn't that Amy Farrah Fowler from the show Big Bang Theory? Now we just need a Sheldon
  8. Sand Blue isn't so strange. The Cave troll from the Harry Potter line was sand blue. I'm picturing the cyclops as a miniature version of him.
  9. If this is true, then series 9 is way better than series 8. The cyclops and chicken suit mascot were in my guesses for series 8. Could the Dr. Splitz figure actually be a mad scientist that is half human half fly? a half mutated doctor.
  10. As long as the episodes 7, 8 and 9 have R2-D2 and C3PO in them, it will still be Starwars to me. And having a good story line would be a major bonus.
  11. I just finished this building this set about 30 mins ago and I must say that its an awesome set. I'm a long time castle fan and this one of the most fun castles that I've ever built. Everything seems just right. There's no repetitive builds unlike other castles. Its completely asymmetrical and opens up to great effect. And when closed it even solves the often castle problem of how do figures reach the upper towers. Even though the villains can fly they still have the castles floors accessible to people on foot. It has fun extra features like the guest bedroom for victims, the crypt with curtains and a coffin and the pipe organ in the rooftop. It even has its more gruesome parts like the skeleton hanging in its prison cell, spikes that stab people who come through the gate and a trap door that drops the victim onto spikes. Thats definitely different from the usual Lego castles that have trapdoors dropping people into prison cells. It even has a secret wall that opens into a staircase. [although its not so secret with a staircase leading up to the hidden wall] The glow in the dark stickers aren't very glowy and the net launcher .... well I still can't get that to work correctly. But this is one of my favourite sets of the year. And very nearly one of my favourite castles of all time. I plan on buying an extra few copies of this one when they are on sale and building castle Duckula. Awesome set. Its definitely a worthy follow up to the Pharaohs Quest sets. Lego does its best work when its not based on movies.
  12. He looks fantastic and the face is just perfect. Have you got any plans to do a Wile E Coyote to go with him?
  13. Wow! There are so many great details in this. I really like the little guy on the roof painting the house with a roller. Why is there a Knight wearing flippers waiting for a tram?
  14. Great idea Venunder It could be an Aztec theme.. that would fit in well. The characters from the Pharaohs Quest line go exploring ancient Aztec ruins. That would really make it a remake of the Adventurers line. They went to Egypt then the jungle/Aztec and then finally India and China. I'd be happy if we got Aztec followed by some Asian based sets in 2 years time.
  15. I've seen every monster fighters set on the shelf apart from the Mad scientist. I'm still surprised that the zombies set is a BigW exclusive instead of a tRus exclusive. Haven't seen a lot of the Dino sets on the shelf lately. Are we likely to see any more coming to shelves soon? I want to pick a few of these up.. the dinos look great.
  16. Legend of Chima I'm hoping that its a typo and its actually The Legend of Chimera theme. An ancient Greek theme based on mythological creatures. Maybe 8 sets in the series each one is based on a mythological creature the final and biggest set featuring the Chimera. Could lead to a Medusa, Poseidon, Pegasus and others. Could be fun
  17. Great review. I bought a few copies of this set just for the horses. Have you noticed that the 2x1 brown brick in the back of the horse isn't the same colour brown as the horse or the 2x1 plate on top of it. It really shows up in the picture of the horse standing on its hind legs. I have the same problem with all the copies of this set that I have.
  18. Here are my guesses for series 9. I only got one right from series 8 so I'll be happy if I can get one right from this series too. 1. Grandmother - curly grey hair, glasses a shawl and a pie. To go with Little Red riding hood. 2. Monk - like friar tuck with brown robes and a shaved spot on his head. Turkey leg as an accessory 3. Female pirate 4. Belly dancer 5. Female elf - green dress, pale yellow or white LOTR hair with ears. 6. Cave kid - like the caveman but with a small club and baby dinosaur. [doubt this will ever happen] 7. Doctor - we've had the surgeon and nurse. Must be time for a doctor. 8. Indian Medicine man - with buffalo head dress 9. Snake charmer - with turban, snake, basket and a flute. 10. Burglar - black and white striped shirt, black beanie, mask and a sack with a $ sign on it. 11. Cinema Usher - dark red outfit with gold epaulettes and a flashlight. 12. Amazonian queen/warrior 13. Chicken farmer - with a basket and black chicken. 14. Musketeer in red - there has to be a villain to fight 15. Santas Elf 16. Baker - with a new cake
  19. Excellent work on the donkeys. I've always wanted a Lego donkey to go with my castle sets.
  20. So its not the most exciting series to me. I prefer the historical figures instead of sports or modern figures. The figures that i like are the bavarian, conquistador, pirate captain, actor and Santa. I really need Santa for my winter village display. Theres a few new and recoloured parts that I like. The Cheerleaders hair in black - nice colour for a villain. The pretzel, actors ruff and Santas sack. The conquistadors armour looks awesome even in the low res pics we have. The forestman hat in dark green is great. And I don't think Lego has made that feather in white for about 10 years. I'm not too sure about that fairy. The colour mix of green, white top, trans blue wings and trans pink seems wrong. If they had just stuck to different shades of the one colour it would have looked better. If she had a green top, green dress, pale green wings and maybe a clear or silver wand she would have looked better. Just my opinion. I'll still buy a box full anyway.
  21. After just finishing building this set I'd have to say its very bad. If you want to get the main characters from the movie Pippin, Legolas and Boromir they are only available in this set. This is a cheap sell for Lego.. people are going to buy this just to get the main characters. The sets play features are rubbish.. Has anyone actually managed to get the tomb lid to flip? Theres alot of pieces in the set that are just randomly placed on the set without any purpose. a bone, the heroica weapons, a book and the 2 extra diamonds. I have never seen a set before that just has parts placed and not actually had a container or specific part to attach them. They could have saved some of the extra price on the set just by having the goblin with a single sided face.. a slightly more open mouth is just pathetic. The amount of stickers is ridiculous. Printing on the book would have been nice but they did accidentally give me 2 sheets of stickers.. so that is a bonus. After they printed woodgrain 1x4 tiles on the LOTR set 9471 why do we have multiple stickers doing the same job on this set? This set is overpriced and underwhelming.
  22. The LOTR Legolas fig looks very similar to the Collectible Minifigure elf. Apart from a small adjustment to the eyebrows and more mascara on Legolas they are practically the same face. Its an easy swap. I'm still trying to find the best yellow faces to replace the pinkies. Any suggestions?
  23. Theres so many to choose from but some of my favourites are the same as most have mentioned. The elf, forest man, spartan, roman, gladiator and Aztec. The ones that I always have on display on my desk and are played with the most are the musketeer, geisha, samurai, pharaoh, cleopatra and for some reason I really like the genie. I think it's the leg piece, lamp and the gem on the genie that I like the most.
  24. I've already started to change the heads on my LOTR figures to yellow. I'm not a fan of the series but I do like castle sets. I'm going to convert all the figures so that they fit in with my existing collection. I was considering painting the ears on the elves hair so that its yellow. After seeing that pic I'm going to get the paints out on the weekend. The flesh showing on the torsos doesn't bother me as I just think the figure is wearing an undershirt under their jackets. I'm trying to use the modern yellow heads especially some of the heads from the Collectible Minifig line. They work pretty well on the LOTR characters. The CM faces have more expression on them than some of the plainer faces. I've used the head from the Bagpiper on Gandalf and still working out replacements for some of the faces so that the beards and eyebrows match their hair colours.
  25. So someone designed a house that is similar in style to one that Lego releases ... Its not a copy or based on anyones designs. Try typing haunted house into a google search there's a plenty of real houses that have a similar design. Its the basic structure of the house that we seem to think is a haunted house style. Its the basic 2 or 3 stories with a tall tower in the centre above the doorway with angled roofs. Make it spooky by adding a few boarded up windows a dead tree and an appropriate colour scheme. As for the colour.. What colours are most associated with halloween? grey, black, green and orange. People are going overboard with the reactions..This is a generic representation of a haunted house with a few characters loosely based on a few awesome 60's TV shows. Have we ever had a haunted house before from Lego? no Are we ever likely to get one again?? doubtful. Its an awesome house. I'll be buying it :D though it might need a few more bits of furniture but Lego is never going to please 100% of everyone. The designer did an awesome job. Its everything i want in a haunted house.. btw love the spider webs on the windows.
