Just playing with a modular platform that allows for various arrangements of a scene, in this case an Oktoberfest interior scene that allows for various display options. Happy Oktoberfest! Miro

I have seen a few web pages on easy hacks on how to make a light box using a white fabric sheet with lights behind them to scatter the light. The box frame can be made out of just about whatever you may already have (cardboard box, sticks, Lego). I believe you just need some specialty light bulbs that produce a proper light spectrum. I am just being lazy and using the natural light in the morning. The sun produces the best light spectrum in my opinion. I mostly adjust for exposure (usually underexposed) and adjust the cast (iPhone) to a warmer tone as often my photos get a cooler bluish cast, probably from improper white balance. There are various iPhone apps that allow for more manual control settings, I have used Pure Shot on my iPhone. The biggest problem I find is low light problems and fisheye distortion effect. At some point I will break down and get a proper DSLR. MIro

Sorry to hear that. Mine is still sealed in a box, due to lack of space. I guess the "B" in B-wing now has a new meaning, "Bent"-Wing. I would imagine not much long term structural stability studies happen at Lego for their models. I think these sort of things should be reported to Lego, so that they can take this issue up the chain all the way to the designers. Miro

Just having some fun with the Microfighter AT-ATs. I decided to update them to AT-ACTs and since they are so posable, I couldn't resist having the younglings play in the Tropical waters of Scarif. I like to think AT-ACT in this case could stand for All Tropical - Aquatic Coral Transport. Miro

I don't build a whole lot of cars, but I am not a fan of the oversized cars Lego produces, but I understand the size constraints of the minifig (too wide and short) which is a challenge when trying to build minifigure scaled car. 4wide is very limiting, and I reserve that scale to tiny cars like Mini or the Smart car (Benny's car from The Lego Movie) 4wide Mini Cooper 5w to 6w for regular city scale cars USPS Grumman Delivery Car Other times, I break the rule and build Minis bigger in order to get the detailing I want. Italian Job Mini Coopers and other times I build them much smaller Tread Lightly Since I don't do city layouts, it hasn't been a problem for me, but I like EROL's scaling and examples. His vehicles are exceptionally nice. Miro

Is it just me or all of the In-N-Out restaurants have the identical interior layout. Very nicely done. A lot of details crammed inside. Your Green Grocer with the sand green masonry bricks turned out nice too. No worries with cell phone pictures. My cell phone quality is better than my old camera, but proper lighting will do wonders. I now take all of my pictures on my balcony in daylight, usually in the morning before the sun comes up over the hill. Ideal situation is when the sky is covered in light cloud layer to naturally scatter light for me. Miro

The other day I built a coffee stand I named "Cup o' Java". I didn't think it would get so much attention, and to my surprise it was picked up by The Brothers Brick and on Reddit today. It's a fairly straight forward build, and if anyone is interested in building one, you can download the LDD download link below: LDD file: https://drive.google...aXJvZzQxLWFsRHM Rebrickable page: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-7416/Miro/coffee-mug-stand/ The LDD is of the mug shaped stand only with coffee machine and steam on top. Feel free to swap out colors as you see fit. I used what I had on hand. Miro Cup o' Java by Miro Dudas, on Flickr

Looks wonderful. Nicely done. I have a soft spot for those microfighter AT-ATs and the AT-ACTs make for a an easy MOD. The U-Wing is great too and better looking than the official set from what I saw of the leaked image. Nice scenery to pull it all together. Miro

Just playing with some light aqua plates. Here is my Lego version of the promotional image of the stormtroopers on the beach. Who knew those light aqua plates would come in so handy. Unfortunately, I will need a lot more of them. Rogue One by Miro Dudas, on Flickr Miro

It was great to see it at LLCA Star Wars days this year. You even got Mark taking some pointers from you. The interior looks fantastic and reminds me of the revealed interior drawings of Star Wars spaceships. If you do make the LDD available, I sure would like to get it and build one at some point in the future. I don't have the space for one now, but hopefully come next summer, I will. I hope you will come to LLCA Star Wars days next summer, and good luck with the Falcon that you are working on now. I am sure it will be just as epic. Miro

[MOC] Rogue One - Brickbuilt characters who rebel
Miro78 replied to Miro78's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Aaaah, I goofed up the line from the trailer. Thanks for point it out. Oh well. Thanks Thanks for noticing. I guess I am a stickler when it comes to proportions and poses, so I think it's clear that it comes off more as a sculpture. Never really thought of it that way. There are more connections in her torso than may appear, each hip, waist and mid torso have ball joint connection for all sorts of free range movements. Her left hip is higher then her right. Now I just wish the Mixel ball joints came in wider range of colors as they are a pain to have to conceal. Probably the most popular quote from the trailer. Thanks. Miro -
Starting a thread for brick built characters from Rogue One. Ever since the first photos and the first trailer, I have wanted to build Jyn Erso in fully articulated brick built form. So here I am starting with Jyn Erso. Hopefully I will get a chance to build more of the characters from Rogue One. If anyone else would like to join, feel free to post in this thread with your version of Jyn Erso or other characters from Rogue One. I am a Rebel, I rebel by Miro Dudas, on Flickr Miro

Thank you both. Here is a render of the car and here is the Rebrickable page link: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/Miro/flintstones-car-minifigure-scale Miro

Just having some fun, and built a Flintstones car for my collectible minifigure cave family. Sadly, the caveman is not allowed to purchase the single seater car as his cavewoman reminds him of their priority in raising their family. If you like the Flintstones car, I have submitted it to Rebrickable or you can download it directly from here: https://goo.gl/YwK7GI No honey, we are not buying that sports car! by Miro Dudas, on Flickr Enjoy the build. -Miro

That stormtrooper is about 70% larger taller than the official set 3723 Minifigure (~21 inches), which you can get the LDD file from here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=41226&st=200 There are some smaller versions like that of set 3723 scale on the web. I particularly like Bill's and Steven's versions shown below. I don't know of other megafig builders, but these are the 2 builders that I know which build these figures at this 3723 set scale. Steven even builds various other trooper versions, so check out his Flickr stream. The amount of parts needed at that scale will be roughly around 2500-3000 bricks/plates/slopes depending on the amount of detail you want to add. I have only built one figure (C-3PO) and it totaled at ~2500. That is about $250-300 in parts if you buy them from Bricklink. If you want to build the figure you cite, that will be about 3 foot tall and cost wise whole lot more. It's a fine model Jamie. It's holding up quite nicely and I keep it on display in my living room. He finally made a debut at his first public appearance last month. One of these days he'll get more golden and less yellow. I am resisting using spray paint, but I think Bill over at ParLUGment (Canada) might have gotten his gold chromed or painted, not sure, awaiting confirmation. Looks nice all golden. Miro

Monetizing file sharing of LDD LXF files?
Miro78 replied to sparkart's topic in Forum Information and Help
Sparkart, not sure if you already got the answer you were hoping for, but I would go the route of Rebrickale.com. I have some models there, 3 for free and 1 for purchase (the WV tram). Simple builds, I share for free, but for more complex ones, I sell. The one that I have for purchase has step by step digital instructions, so the compensation is really for the time put into designing the model, part/cost optimizations and the creation of instructions. Thanks for the welcome Jamie. Glad you like them. Thank you. I enjoyed modifying another R2 to make R5-D4. Thank you. Thanks Andy. Yes, I had the 4 droids at LLCA Star Wars days couple of weekends ago. BB-8 is completely rebuilt though. Thank you. Glad you like BB-8. I tried to build him as close to proper scale to R2-D2 as I could. Miro

I am not the first to have built BB-8 out of Lego or at a UCS scale, but I couldn't resist building my own version after having a surplus of white plates left over from my other project. Hope you like BB-8 joining the droid family. The Red astromech droid is R5-D4 from ANH. Awesome Foursome by Miro Dudas, on Flickr cheers Miro

Yes, chopper from Star Wars Rebels animated series looks like a fun one to build. I'll look into it. It's hard to say no to builds that use dark orange color (one of my favorite Lego colors). Wow. Thank you. Was not expecting that. Quite honored. Thank you. I was hesitant to how Red would turn out, but I agree. R5-D4's head looks better in Lego form, than the brick built dome R2 sports. Yes, I plan on making an LDD file of the head. I also took notes on changes for the body brick swapping at each step, and I can write that up as well. I'll follow up when I have the LDD ready. Thanks. I am quite pleased with how it turned out. Miro

Thanks. Yes, both astromechs along with scale matched yellow C-3PO will be coming. I'll try to build BB-8 to match scale, if I have enough parts. Sadly, I have used almost all of my white bricks on the giant Hoth, which I will bring as well. I'll post about it in coming days. Thank you.

Late last year when I took a photo of my 5 year old standing next to Cosplay replica R2-D2 and R5-D4 droids, I decided to modify a second 10225 set to R5-D4 specifications. Mostly the modifications are building a new R5-D4 head and some color swapping on the body. As I analyzed the changes from photos, I was surprised to see that R5-D4 still had quite a bit of blue left on him. I took this photo this morning, but I already noticed couple of things I need to change/add to him. Update: Lego Digital Designer file of R5-D4 is now available via this download link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B3ME1BfzxExrR1VGQ3FRemR2Y1U R2-D2 and R5-D4 by Miro Dudas, on Flickr Enjoy, Miro
