Here is a quick cad of a homemade stearing axle. It should be easy to attach a gear rack to that,for suspension swivel ' like on tractors' would be the easiest but you could swivel on each side 'like a car'. -

Here is a linear actuator idea i came up with,you can find free instrutions at the bottom of the first reply. linear actuator For gearing i am not very good at that myself, but remember that gearing up (fast but not powerful) is when you have a big grear then a small gear,gearing down (slower but powerfull) is when you have a small gear and then a big gear.

You mean the studded parts? Two cranes are better than one,handy if you need to lift two things at the same time.

On bricklink there is some in the USA for $60,for us in Europe we might get them for 50 pounds. -
