What if in G2 the Masks are, instead of Kanoka disks, made from those crystals? Or maybe, Masks and armour/weapons made from those crystals enhance their user's power?
-
I would keep the Creatures colours as they are. Gold looks kind of gaudy with the Water, Jungle (I swear I was about to type Air) and Stone colour schemes. I wonder how they'd look with fully transparent masks (in their elemental colours I mean), but whatever they do the sets in Summer aren't enough to get all 6 (I doubt Ekimu and Umarak include whatever extra masks the Beasts have). I hope we still get one or two exclusive masks. Hopefully not another Hau..Umarak's mask would be cool. This probably goes in the Story topic, but I think he either awakens them because they're legendary entities like the Creatures or he creates them, possibly with Makuta's help.

Those look pretty nice. Your style is faithful to the sets while showing a cartoony personality I quite like. I think the way you drew them is the right one, but Pohatu's box art shows Ketar's arms pointing upwards, giving Pohatu a pair of wing-like appendages. I think I see why they didn't go for the silver masks. They look kind of skull-like- which does make them look evil and/or dead. But I still want silver masks, dammit. Maybe with the Beasts (2 Masks each Beast?)? I'm starting to REALLY like the orange on Gali. I was never against it to begin with (orange on blue sets is nothing new *), but I think I even prefer it to yellow now. It looks vibrant and makes her closer to a sea creature (a goldfish? Coral?), compared to Master Gali's scuba diver look. And I really like the trans dark blue too. * = look at Gahlok and its Krana- people who complain about Uniter Tahu's blue should, for similar reasons, compare him to Tahnok. EDIT: Aw I meant Ketar, not Terak of course lol.

I like the whole crystal theme, it's something I've been wanting for a while, so I like the add-ons and the weapons. But the "anime hair", as many have dubbed it by now, looks odd and actually limits the use of otherwise pretty good masks. The silver coloured top isn't even that terrible to me, it's the crystal/spiky pattern that makes them look odd. I would've probably liked the new Hau (yes, I'll use the G1 terms. It's shorter) more than the 2015 one if it weren't for that. And when once we finally get an Akaku with a customizeable eyepiece (I rather not count the 2008 form), again there's this pattern. And yeah, I'm sorry but the gold masks on the 3 smaller Toa make no sense. It works with the 3 larger Toa because it feels like the Creature heads become part of their masks (it looks great on Tahu and Kopaka), but that effect is lost on the other 3. It's going to be a weird effect on them, with the silver Creature head sitting on top of a gold mask. It's too bad because I think these are really good masks, though some are much less faithful to their 2001 versions than the 2015 were (the 2016 Mask of Earth, for example, looks nothing like any G1 Pakari). I'm sounding negative, but I atually like these. I just don't think the spiky crystal tops were needed. Well let's see:If the Beasts can combine with Umarak the Destroyer like many are speculating, each should be able to give him something special like the Creatures do to the Toa (and to Umarak the Hunter). And they should probably have a common colour, like black, so they can match Umarak better. -Storm Beast: I definitely want it to be a flying creature, so it can give Umarak a pair of wings (LoMN Makuta anyone? Aaaanyooooneeee?). I'd prefer a bird, because we've never had a bird villain in Bionicle (I don't count Nivawk, he was just a pet Rahi). A bird/reptile creature would be cool too, though. Colours: black and tr. light blue. -Lava Beast: agreed with salamander. Colours: black and tr. reddish orange. -Quake Beast: I keep picturing it as a bulky monster, but I don't know why. I guess I think Quake = Earth = bulky. It could be a heavily armoured creature with big hands that connects to Umarak and gives him a pair of big shoulder pads, like Terak and Melum. Colours: black and tr. purple. The Beasts this way would reflect the three types of Creatures, depending on their features and what they add to their Toa: -Storm: winged type (Ikir and Uxar) -Lava: tailed type (Ketar and Akida) -Quake: armour type (Terak and Melum). Just speculation, of course.

I don't think Umarak should be much bulkier than he is now, I just want him to be taller and still be well designed. And keep his antlers of course. I'm curious about his colours too. I guess it depends on the nature of his transformation, if he's just enlarged his colour scheme should be fiarly similar to his Hunter form, but he's magically transformed his colours might change. People are unhappy about the MoCo because...well, I don't know why, but personally it's because the Mask gives off a completely different feeling from the animated version. The animated Mask had these huge ram horns and a square chin, while the set form had its horns shrunk and the beard elongated. What is the effect? The Mask to me loses its aggressive attitude and becomes.. I don't know, older, less menacing. Picture a strong warrior in his prime (animated MoCo), and then imagine him in about 30-40 years, aged and out of shape (set MoCo). That's how it feels to me. I can't picture Umarak or Makuta wearing that mask. It looks like it belongs to an old wizard, not a titan of evil. I hope the Mask looks better in person and/or that Umarak the Destroyer includes a corrupted/mutated version. The beard can stay, but I do want those ram horns. And regarding the Toa, I get the "they lost individuality" bit, but I'm pretty sure it is mostly due to the Unity function (which limits both the Toa and the Creatures in their designs, actually). The new build should be able to allow a completely custom torso- it depends on how the other two new parts we can't see (black upper gear+neck ball joint and dark bley ribcage area) work. That's only partly justified though, they could've still slipped some unique tidbits in, on their limbs if the torsos couldn't be customized. But it's not terrible, since I feel they look more unified (HAH..s-sorry) this way. But that's always been a debate- should a team of Toa be as diverse as possible (Toa Mata, Mahri, Masters..) or should its members be more unified in their looks (Toa Nuva, Metru, Hordika, Inika, Uniters)? Depends on personal preference, in the end.

If Kopaka and Melum is 25 Euro (the Dollar-Euro conversion for these is 1:1 anyway) that would bring the Winter wave to a grand total of 180 Euro, exactly like the 2015 Winter wave. It'd be fair, since Melum is, well, a bit limited, and Kopaka himself is more or less Lewa with a gun in terms of complexity. That might mean that the Summer wave amounts to 90 Euro like the Skull sets this year. If Umarak the Destroyer is 30 Euro, that would force the other 4 sets to be 15 Euro each. I'd personally like 1 or 2 Beasts to be a 20 Euro figure, but it's not vital I suppose. How big do I want UtD to be? UtH is a bit shorter (not counting his antlers) than Darth Vader, right? He should at least be as tall as DV then. But ideally I'd want him to be on par with Grievous. But I fear my expectations are too high.

I'm impressed. I actually think most of the Toa are on par with their 2015 forms, some even beating them (Pohatu, Onua and Kopaka at least). Some of them have lost a bit of their individuality (Lewa's vest thing), but some changes I feel are for the better. Onua 2015, which many like (myself included), looked too bulky to fit my Onua headcanon (who is closer to a wise wizard-warrior than a gentle giant). So I'm glad I can use some of the new pieces and builds to refine my Toa. Kopaka is interesting in that he's very slender like his 2001 set, but once united with Melum he gets his bulky armour like Kopaka Nuva and Master of Ice back (with matching shoulder pads/paws to boot). The best executed Kopaka set so far, I think. The colour schemes are fantastic. DARK TAN on Pohatu (I knew it, dark tan suits dark orange more than light tan)! So much trans purple on Onua! And Umarak's mask is confirmed to be black, thankfully. Tahu is the one that seems to lack the most, funnily enough. Just too much gold and not enough red, and his blades aren't on par with his fantastic Fire Blades. So, sorry, I'm sticking with Master of Fire, dunno what I'll use Uniter of Gold for. I actually think he'd look better if the red was completely replaced by gold.

Ooooh neat. Though Onua got a lot of changes comapred to the other Toa- a rebuilt Titan-tier torso and a lot more trans purple (including HANDS! Darn I want those!). And I wish trans purple could glow so much. It looks really pretty, but since it isn't fluorescent.. I don't see Tera- ahem, any animal this time. (just realized, by the way, that Terak sounds similar to Terra, which is Italian for Earth. Huh...) Maybe the Elemental Creatures were born from that. That's what I assumed. I wish we could get that sort of villain someday, I imagine the Beasts are a creation of Umarak's or Makuta's, but it would be cool if they were legendary elemental creatures like the Creatures themselves, just malevolent ones.

Dunno, they look really set-like to me. But I can't see them as one of the 3 Beasts, so unless they're 2017 enemies (which seems impossible), I'll just have to accept they're there for show.

Same, at least 3 I think. That really surprised me. Good thing they're nearly omnipresent in sets these days.

Yep, looks like trans purple is here to stay as the Earth sets' go-to secondary colour. Now, if only they could bring trans pink in.... but it ain't happening.

Yeah, it's 5M, it's too wide to be 4M. Now, all colours and printings look fine to me, I'm just worried about Umarak's mask. If it really is silver or gunmetal it's going to lose quite a bit of fear factor, I think. It already looks less scary than the catalog version, though I'm not sure if more details are showing or if they actually changed it.

Wow, that's totally Lewa's Nuva symbol on his chest, but I can't quite see it on the others.

I bet it's yet another pic of Tahu. Kopaka if we're lucky. And I'm not sure if Umarak's mask is silver. It's true some colours changed, but it's been mostly about making some colour schemes more coherent (like Lewa's and Uxar's tr bright green blades). But Umarak's colour scheme mainly revolves around black and tr. bright green, so a tr. green/silver mask wouldn't make much sense for him. I think it's just the lighting (coming from his and Tahu's swords clashing). And I still kinda hope the cheaper Toa end up with silver masks. The transparent colours coupled with silver look sooo nice. EDIT: Added the stuff from the previous post.

I doubt, however, that Umarak can combine with all Beasts at once, just only one at a time. He would have to be huge to accomodate all three Beasts on his back. But maybe the three Beasts can combine into one monster (a classic combo model that requires rebuilding) which in turn can be combined with Umarak (like the Toa+Creatures Unity mode) for Ultimate Umarak goodness.

Some of the 2015 concepts were reused in the 2016 Toa and Creatures (Tahu and Kopaka with their crysyal-like motifs, that concept of a creature fusing with Tahu...), so what if the Skulls concepts have been reused for the Beasts and UtD? Like Storm Beast for example looking like Battle Bat, or Umarak combining with the Beasts and ending up looking like Kulta Kal.

Someone pointed out that Kulta Kal's mask is gold. I guess that is what the Villain Pack was meant to be used for, kind of like Ultimate Dume's Kraahkan and Irnakk's gold Thok spine. EDIT: Also, anyone thought of True Ogre (Tekken) when they saw Kulta Kal? Man, seeing lil' Ekimu defeating than demonic titan on his own would've been amazing to see.

Wow, this never occured to me before, mostly because I assumed Kopaka's shells were black. I assumed Gali's darker shells were tr. dark blue (transparent shells over transparent bones has been done before on Skull Warrior and Skull Slicer), but dark blue does make more sense now. Dark blue+dark azure, basically a tanned Gali Nuva.Yeah, all the shells on her limbs are 4M.

Which is why I keep saying the smaller Toa should've had silver masks instead. Tahu+Ikir looks great because it looks like one whole mask, but that effect is going to be lost on the silver armored Toa and Creatures. My only hope is that those gold masks end up like Onua's torso and Kopaka's blades, but I'm not sure.
