Book III - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Spud The Viking replied to soccerkid6's topic in Guilds of Historica
Amos Lachlan's parish: -
Amos Lachlan is the local clergyman of a small farming village in the lowlands of Mitgardia. His time is spent studying and as a chronicler, writing down historic events and descriptions. He feels the time is right to venture beyond the green fields of home and begin meeting other settlements, finding out their local history and any needs he can help with. More pictures: I built this mainly to introduce my character, and rather than having a warrior or tradesman, why not have a man of faith? I've been wanting to join GoH for many years and I've finally dived into the action.

Book III - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Spud The Viking replied to soccerkid6's topic in Guilds of Historica
Amos Lachlan Titles and Profession: Clergyman, chronicler, scholar. Short Bio: Amos Lachlan is the second son of a farming family in the South lowlands of Mitgardia. He preaches within a small community and still has a soft-spot for agriculture because of his upbringing. Lachlan would like to venture out into surrounding settlements in order to get a general sense of the politics and needs of the people. He keeps notes of current events in order to provide written history. Along with him travels his dog; Kirk. Hometown: A small village on the West side of the Antler river Parts: to be updated __________ Okay, after many, many years of wishing to join GoH, here I am. I was torn between factions but I felt inclined towards Mitgardia, looking forward to building Medieval along with you guys! -

Indeed, I've used them before but these new ones would look great for Prussian troops. -

Nice build! That's a lot of masonry bricks I like the mixture of colours and the different levels of the build, it really feels as if it's been there for centuries!

Useful Pirate Pieces from other Themes?
Spud The Viking replied to ZCerberus's topic in LEGO Pirates
The new Winter Village fire station has some great black torsos on the firefighters -
I have a quick question which I'm guessing would go here - is a rock quarry required to harvest stone for a settlement? A quarry is obviously a large scale project, but clearing stones from an area is vastly different. I ask simply because it would not make sense to build a property containing stone in a settlement without a quarry.

After knocking down a statue, our team of adventurers set out to find this wild beast rampaging through the island's jungle. After much walking and tea breaks, the band approached an ancient ruin in an open area of the jungle. The beaten path ended at some stairs up to a sort of monument, except it was missing the monument. Lieutenant Joshua felt the eyes of a predator upon him as he led the team closer to the structure. There were no birds chirping, no insects buzzing, just silence... Out of the greenery jumped a stone monster, devouring poor Lady Enia. Joshua and Angus turned and fled towards the steps while Jacques le Méchant stumbled at the sheer surprise of the beast appearing. The stone creature trampled upon Jacques on it's way towards the remaining two. Joshua got a good look at the thing, with it's large ruby eyes, sharp scarlet teeth and powerful boulders as arms. Angus Spud smirked, "another trophy to put on my wall", he said foolhardily. Because of the time he took to say that, the beast knocked him over before he could shoot. Left on his own, Joshua grabbed the most suitable weapon at hand. No, not the shovel, or the pistol in the backpack. Lieutenant Joshua armed himself with a pan, fearing to look into the monster's eyes. Just then, Reverend Wesley MacJohn jumped in, stabbing his sabre into the creature's eye. Everything seemed to fade into blackness. Joshua awoke, the monster was now standing atop the monument, as if it had been for centuries. "What happened?" he asked, "The beast, you killed it. How long was I unconscious for?" "You are mistaken, sir," the Reverend replied, "I buried that bluecoat, followed this trail and seen Angus and yourself knocked out next to this golden chest, the others are dead." "It can't be, I remember it as clear as day, the stone monster killed the other two and was about to kill me before you jumped in." "Ehh?! What happened, I must have nodded off for a bit" Angus Spud slurred as he sat at an angle. "Angus, you remember the battle with that beast, don't you!" asked Joshua anxiously. "Nah son, I've been drinking out this hip-flask the whole journey, I don't know what's real and what isn't. If you want my side of the story, I single-handedly killed that thing and then I just laid down til you folks woke up. Anyway, when do I get paid and where is the nearest pub?" "Fool, you must have had a satanic vision, and fought with demons, hence why there's two dead" stated Reverend MacJohn. Joshua now had three versions of the story, which one was true? They decided to take the golden chest. Dragging it away, he was sure the monster growled from atop the stone stairs. What if the monster was real? What if the team fought over the treasure and he had been knocked out? What if another killing spree happens within the jungle? I suppose the dark secret on the Île d'Or will remain unknown...

[COR-FB] Embarking on the Grand Expedition
Spud The Viking replied to Spud The Viking's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thanks! They're quite difficult to get in the UK, only one main seller which stocks the one kind of musket. Thank you. -
I forgot to upload this 16x16 on its own (and submit it as a freebuild). A small scene of Jameston's harbour which will be licensed as a small commercial property. Originally posted here. I also wanted to show off my new muskets and bayonets (only got two because I'm Scottish and cheap ) and Spud's new arm prints.

I strongly support historical accuracy, yet I'm not dogmatic on what people want to build either. Sure, you can be experimental like those back in the day, eg. my fellow countryman James Watt. At the same time I think overusing experimental stuff takes away the feel for me. For example, the game Battlefield 1, it has so many prototype weapons in place of the millions of regular rifles used in the Great War. Is it still fun? Sure, that's up to you playing it, but it takes away the historical charm.

[AMRCA RSND] The Grand Expedition - Part I
Spud The Viking replied to Darnok's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Spud and his men gather for the setting off of the Grand Expedition. It would be a huge gamble for Spud, putting everything on the line for the sake of adventure, discovery and of course Her Majesty's honour. Jameston was bustling as last minute resources were loaded to the ships and lists were checked continually to ensure the voyagers had enough supplies and firepower to make this venture a success. A small feeling of confidence filled Spud as his highlanders approached, it would soon be time for leaving the known to claim the unknown. More images of the build: -
Mortar emplacement at Lavalette
Spud The Viking replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Really nice build here Bregir! I love the mortars, the semaphore and the small towers on the two corners of the placement. A well thought out and brilliantly executed build! -
Nice builds @Drunknok! I just feel the last one is a little too cramped, realistically, it would be very difficult to load and fire all three. Anyway, the shape is very nice. I wouldn't like to see the ammunition bill for the WTC
