On his Flickr photostream, lk.lkaz posted several GIF animations of his "running" Lego Technic Kinetic Animal Frame prototype. The 4-second GIF animation shows how it works. A small, continuous 320x240 GIF loop appears below (from his Brickshelf gallery); he has a larger 800x600 continuous GIF loop that you can see here (but is not deeplinked here in the interest of bandwidth). He wrote that he "...tried to make a cheetah-like mech, but many problems remain :( 1. There is a gap of the stroke speed bitween the front and rear legs. 2. The front and rear legs can't cross each other. 3. A static head and a dynamic tail mechanisms are needed." His MOC was "Inspired from Cheetahs on the Edge--Director's Cut by NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC by Andrew ChaseLEGO Knuckle walker KONG by ぴこ(PIKO or PICO) (.mpg) ." He made GIF animation details about the backbone, rear leg, front legs (all below), and gears (above):

(PART 4) Which of these entries (for the 2012 Lego Technic Competition) would you buy, assuming that the price is the same as the basic 9398 4x4 Crawler set? Click on the URL above each image to link to each entry's Gallery, and to check on the number of "Votes" it has. Your poll answers are private; you can pick one or more choices. You can add your public opinions as "Replies" to this topic if you'd like. I will be adding additional (compliant) entries to this topic until midnight on New Year's Eve (December 31, 2012). You can adjust your poll selections as required. Again, in this poll you can indicate more than one entry that you would consider buying. Be sure to add your official "Votes" to each entry below that you "Like"! The entries appear in "oldest-to-newest" order; the creation titles are not necessarily what the creators named them. This batch of 19 compliant entries supplements the Parts 1-3 batches presented earlier; more will be added over the next few days. If you would not buy any of them, then select the "None of the above" answer in the poll. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * JediForce2001's offroader -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=412 : Lego10Ronald's red offroader on red tires -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=415 -- PLAGIARIZED FROM ZBLJ's ENTRY http://technic.us.lego.com/en-us/Creations/Details/Default.aspx?projectid=dc9b8da9-2daa-4d94-b347-d6c9ebd7b196&sort=latest&index=563 : Kwon8429's offroader -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=416 : NicoGun2002's offroader with 4 tires on each axle -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=418 : dyw101's offroader with roof rack -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=420 : idkwhoyouare's white fastback offroader -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=425 : cwesthoeve's offroader in the ocean -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=435 : bert2578's black, stocky offroader -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=446 : MySnailEatsPizza's black-and-red offroader with light bar on roof -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=447 : MySnailEatsPizza's black-and-yellow offroader with lightbar on roof -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=449 : marcusman25's offroader with small trailer -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=450 : Eniya's frog-green offroader with two arms -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=451 : NoahMierop's yellow offroader with flat roof -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=453 : Kwon8429's offroader on purple pillow -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=457 : LazarevAndrey3975's tow truck with front winch -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=466 : NoahMierop's offroader (looks like a plagiarized clone of LazarevAndrey3975's offroader above -- SHOULD BE DISQUALIFIED -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=467 : brick-king03's supercharged V12 offroader -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=475 : Kwon8429's winged offroader on white sofa -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=477 : solic's Light Bluish Grey offroader with satellite dish on roof -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=481 :

@ legomuppet9: Are you using Rechargeable AA batteries, or new Alkaline batteries? The rechargeable ones will only deliver 6 x 1.2V = 7.2V or so to your motor, while new Alkaline AA batteries will deliver 6 x 1.5V = 9V. The difference in Mechanical Power is seen in Philo's graphs below. There is a substantial difference between the "Version 1" (v1) Power Functions Receiver and the new "Version 2" (v2) Receiver:

@ Sariel: Pay no heed to those unkind words lobbed at you in that previous topic; they were done by "strangers" to this forum who are not representative of your many fans here. I (for one) consider you the best Lego Technic MOCcer in the world, and your willingness to share your work (on your website, Facebook page, and new Technic book) has elevated this hobby to new heights. With "exposure" comes some (undeserved) criticism, but don't let that deter you from your joy in building with Lego! You captured the "lines" of the car very well, and I like how the red parts cover up the unattractive Lego Power Functions elements. I know that you don't often keep your MOCs intact for very long (before building another one), but are you going to keep this beauty intact? Or, will you have to dismantle it to prepare the Building Instructions?

@ TechnicFreak: The "42010 Dragster Combi Model" PDF Building Instructions have been added to the Technic.Lego.com building instruction list for both the 42010 Off-road Racer and the 42011 Race Car. They are not supplied as a printed booklet in the set boxes. Those 42010+42011 Dragster PDF instructions are not listed on the Lego Customer Service's Building Instruction website, however (typical lack of "attention to detail")....
