(PART 2) Which of these entries (for the 2012 Lego Technic Competition) would you buy, assuming that the price is the same as the basic 9398 4x4 Crawler set? Click on the URL above each image to link to each entry's Gallery, and to check on the number of "Votes" it has. Your poll answers are private; you can pick one or more choices. You can add your public opinions as "Replies" to this topic if you'd like. I will be adding additional (compliant) entries to this topic until midnight on New Year's Eve (December 31, 2012). You can adjust your poll selections as required. Again, in this poll you can indicate more than one entry that you would consider buying. Be sure to add your official "Votes" to each entry below that you "Like"! The entries appear in "oldest-to-newest" order; the creation titles are not necessarily what the creators named them. This batch of 19 compliant entries supplements the Part 1 batch of 40 presented in this topic; more will be added over the next few days. If you would not buy any of them, then select the "None of the above" answer in the poll. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * asimoq's tall offroader -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=222 : Johnm71's midnight black offroader -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=223 : NicoGun2002's winged offroader -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=224 : tibeaut's skeletonized offroader -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=231 : Roman-2806's blue monster truck -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=238 --- PLAGIARIZED ENTRY STOLEN FROM BARMAN76 ( http://www.flickrive...57624412649416/ ): lego4x4trucks' boxy black offroader -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=240 : brick-king03's blue crawler -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=243 : Kwon8429's big windshield offroader -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=247 : efferman's Cobra snake offroader -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=253 : bobbywhatever's yellow-and-grey truck -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=256 : sparrow6400's powder blue cargo truck -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=271 -- PLAGIARIZED COPY OF _M_W_'s ENTRY http://technic.us.lego.com/en-us/Creations/Details/Default.aspx?projectid=f94206f7-d575-4f7f-bf78-c81d2a25b32c&sort=oldest&index=180 : NicoGun2002's offroad minivan -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=276 : saltskorpan's WTF -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=283 : brick-king03's LED headlights blue offroader -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=285 : iroam's turbine Batmobile -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=288 : rm88's black offroader -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=298 : Offroader32's teal-and-white offroader -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=305 : begron's material handler -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=307 : idkwhoyouare's offroader in the weeds -- http://technic.us.le...ldest&index=317 :

It was Blakbird's post about the RoscoPC plans being completed that tipped me off. -
@ Carsten Svendsen: You can look at many images of the 1984 Tomy toy "Zoids Giant Zrk" on this Google image page. It may be possible to replicate the Tomy parts with Lego parts, by reverse-engineering what you see. I found this Flickr photoset of a "Zoids Giant Zrk Restoration" by peterl, with 3 good images:

I don't have a problem for paying for quality Building Instructions. "Time is money". Many of the contributors to the MOCPlans website ALREADY HAVE the model, but took the time to prepare the difficult Building Instructions to allow others to build those creations too. They could have used their time to work on other things, but may have thought that by GETTING COMPENSATION for their time, they could afford to buy more Lego parts, go out to dinner, etc. If yoiu don't want to pay for Building Instructions, then don't! You're missing out on some GREAT Lego creations, however. -

[bUMP] "Hello world! "Since we unveiled our idea to build a marketplace for MOC (my own creation) Lego instructions in September 2012, we’ve had some phenomenal interest, comments and inquiries. While, we expect an expeditious initial build phase to launch the first version of our website, its not going to happen overnight. As many Lego enthusiasts know, building something worthwhile takes diligence, planning, forethought and time. "So, rather than go into a cave for months, we decided to be open and transparent during our development process. "There are benefits to this: • We can test ideas, features and engage in conversation and collaboration with fellow enthusiasts • We can invite early adopters to test features • Designers interested in selling their MOC instructions will not only get a feel for the platform as it shapes up but also insight (and hopefully trust) into our intentions and goals. "Onward, MOCplans Team" -
@ Hopey: Yes, that is correct. You need a 8886 / 60656 "Electric, Power Functions Extension Wire with one Light Bluish Gray End (length 20cm)." The Light Bluish Gray end of the wire connects onto the electrified plate on the RC motor, and the Dark Bluish Gray end connects to the Power Functions Receiver. The Receiver's wire (in turn) snaps onto the Power Functions (PF) Battery Box. You can also get the part from Shop.Lego.com ( 8 inch version and 20 inch version) . I just confirmed the arrangement described above with the parts I have, and it works great.

@ cammellostanco: I see that those HPI Racing Ground Assault Tires have 2.2" inside diameter. In that Eurobricks 3rd Party Tires topic, there was some experimentation with 2.2" RC-type tires and people noticed that 2.2" tires were too loose on the Lego 44772 wheels. I cannot tell how WIDE those HPI tires are. On this Eurobricks post, there are several pictures of Hollowpoint Scale Comp 2.2 Tires mounted on the 22969 "Power Puller" wheels: RECOMMENDATION: Although third-party, RC-type tires DO FIT on the Lego 22969 Power Puller wheels, the protruding outer flange of the wheel looks a bit odd. Since those wheels are rare and expensive, I recommend using common Lego 44772 wheels for Lego Technic vehicles with fenders. If you have an articulated Lego Rock Crawler (without fenders), then you can select among many of these sizes of tires in the chart below. I'm sure there are other RC tire manufacturers in other countries that would have tires in the ~2" (51mm) width range.

Paul Boratko (a.k.a. Crowkillers) posted this of all of his MOCs shown at the Lego Kidsfest event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania USA last weekend: Here's a separate YouTube video of his Crowkillers Lego Technic 1:6 scale V8 Engine -- "I only had it running at 3 volts(I can run it at 3, 4.5, 6, 7.5, 9 , and 12)": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akxmRDA8R0Q He's auctioning off one of his custom creations in January 2013 for charity. For those not familiar with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, "...the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The Foundation's mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish® experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors, and entire communities." This will be Paul's second auction to benefit that organization. His previous auction got a winning bid of USD $1,626 (1,299 Euros)! In May, he explained in this post: "I got the pleasure of meeting a young man in Pittsburgh last year at a Kidsfest who had some problems and he was extremely thrilled to see my cars in person and had his father take his picture holding one of my cars... Turns out he was a fan of my work and had seen the models online... This was an eye opening experience for me realizing that through Lego that I had made a connection with this boy and right then and there I had decided that I should try and give back...." @ Rail Co: Using the published Building Instructions, I liked building Sariel's red Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and Nico71's yellow Trial Jeep. Perhaps you could look at the instructions and incorporate some ideas into your offroader. As previously mentioned, many of ZBLJ's numerous Trial Trucks have Lego Digital Designer (LDD) .lxf Building Instruction files. I've built some of his MOCs (like the red Lynx Trial Truck X pictured below), and they are very capable!

It looks like a Lego Technic "survivalist" watercraft for "Armageddon" (Dec 21, 2012)! One can save all of your Technic pieces for upcoming disasters! -
OK, I've noted your concern on the original post. so that it will not garner any more votes. Good idea! I will do that in all subsequent topics with the next group of 20 entries. I can't reshuffle the existing groups without messing up the poll vote results.

Great review, Splat! I just wrote an e-mail to Lego Customer Service about their not posting PDF Building Instructions for the 42010+42011 Dragster combination. This is a recurring problem with their Technic theme -- releasing new sets without posting the online instructions in a prompt manner (when customers have the sets in their hands). I ordered (and received) two pairs of these sets, since I want to compare the 42010 Race Car, 42011 Off-road Racer, and 42010+42011 Dragster side-by-side.

@ cammellostanco: Welcome to Eurobricks! You may enjoy reading how 3rd-party RC-type tires (in the 1.9" Inside Diameter size) can fit on the 9398's wheels (the 44772 "Wheel 56mm D. x 34mm Technic Racing Medium"). The softer, stickier compound in the RC offroad tires make the 9398 crawl MUCH BETTER -- check out this Eurobricks topic. Through some experimentation, 1.9" scale tires in the 37mm-48mm widths work best.

@ clarkdef: Although Power Functions (PF) has a range of 10 meters (33 feet) per The Lego Group, the sun's infrared light can interfere with the PF Receiver. Outdoor operations during heavily-overcast skies helps reduce the interference. Truck Trials are almost always conducted in the shade of trees or buildings to avoid the sun.
