  1. Great !
  2. Maybe you could just use PF? Or, put the 2 engines in the first loc.
  3. A fishing theme would be great indeed. A nice fishing harbor with a larger boat and a small boat. A seperate boat set. A fish monger with a small truck and even a remake of the creator lighthouse.
  4. I'm not a big fan of the police themes, but the forest team was refreshing. Hope the swamp theme won't let us down.
  5. Normaly it shoud be fine, but old track and wheels can give more friction than the new ones. Also taking a switch could give problems, but not 100% sure about this. How fast are you going trough the bends?
  6. I would let him save money until he has enough to buy the cargo train, then let HIM decide which train he likes. That way he learns to choose (because he has 2 options) and he learns to save a bit more.
  7. If they make anything that comes close to this, I'll buy it:
  8. Great to hear LEGO is going to bring out a few JW sets, I do hope they will turn out better than their first attempts a few years back. And, like mentioned above, some sets from the previous movie (the gate and jeeps) followed by some from JW would be fantastic.
  9. Hi, Just so you should be aware of this, from Belgium shipping a metroliner costs approx 40 - 45$ to the US. So getting one from elsewhere in europe should not be to expensive. Cheers
  10. I am sondering what would be the financial loss/profit if LEGO would turn 1 set into 2. The new (and old) cargo train had a track side structure included in the set giving the set a higher piece count, but also a much higher price. The cargo trains have been selling for around €150, which translates to approx €100 for the train and €50 for the extras... Couldn't they just make 2 sets out of this? I think a lot of kids/parents don't buy the expensive cargo train because of the high price, even if it has the extras. Lot's of them will still see it as a train with some add-ons.
  11. Fantastic recreation of the real locomotive! Good job.
  12. Fantastic recreation! Complimenti!
  13. Fantastic recreation! Complimenti!
  14. You can also get great building instructions from railbricks or brickshelf (and even ebay sometimes), or use someone elses moc for ideas. As long as you do this for personal use, I see no harm in this. If you want to keep the original LEGO feel to it, you can also buy single cars from previous years on ebay and bricklink.
  15. There are 2 options if you want to use LEGO parts and nothing aftermarket. 1. search on ebay/bricklink etc for an original battery holder 2. switch completely to PF for which you will have to do some modifications to the engine and carriages to make it all work, but it can certainly be done and will cost you around 40€
  16. Sounds to me like you are running twice the required voltage for the engine... Old train motors need 4,5V, you are running them on 9,0V.
  17. This train looks fantastic, great work!
  18. I will try to explain why to me this is disappointing. The passanger train: - single piece front (it's LEGO, not duplo or playmobil) - the colors (did I not see those before on a LEGO train ?) - the fact that once again it is a high speed train - and, even more, once again it will be set up to run with a (multiple) centre wagons, front loc and dummy rear loc, not really the biggest build - LEGO has some nice moulds for special nose bricks, why not re-use them more often? When reading on EB I have a strong impressing that the more bricks are used to sculp something, the better it looks and, even more important, the more people like it. The single nose piece is a cheap solution for LEGO For the freight train I will wait till some pictures from the whole train are released. Cheers
  19. This, to me, is a big disappointment... Every year the sets seem to get worse. The 7938 train we had the past years was a wonderful smaller passenger set, but this is a huge way back.
  20. I do not own any modular building, mainly because my main focus is on trains. But, I've read every review there is on these FANTASTIC creations and I really don't see what their is to complain about. All of the buildings look great and have lots of detail (yes, some more than other) and the realism is as spot on as a set can be. If they would add more interior detail to some of the larger buildings, that would increase the price and you would all be nagging about that... Do not forget, it is LEGO. If you want to add an interior, you can! The PR looks wonderfull (it is the first I would consider buying myself). It has TONNES of interior and exterior detail and is priced correctly. Even more, the modulars are the only 'theme' that is aimed at AFOLs that offers quite a few sets, compared to f.i. the 3 trains we have got the last 4 years. So please people, if you want to complain, dig a bit further until you've actually found something that is worth complaining about.
  21. The passanger train sounds like it is going to be a loc - wagon - loc setup... To bad, I was realu hoping they would bring out a 'new' style for them. On the other hand, the cargo trains sounds promising! Looking forward to it.
  22. LEGO says that stand alone rolling stock and locos are not profitable (which I doubt). Therefore I think a small layout (shunter and some goods wagons) as a starter set would be nice. It would not even need a motor in my opinion.
  23. could not agree more A small shunting diesel/steamloco with 2 small goods waggons at a low price (70 euro) would be so nice!
  24. Nice to hear some more info about the new train line. I am quite sure the station will not be in a WV theme? Why? The basic train line (aimed at children) never had any special station from other LEGO themes... Just go back in time and I don't think LEGO will surprise us now. On a side-note, I know the trains are aimed at kids and I fully understand the lack of interest for the LEGO Company to produce loose rolling stock and other track side structures (like they did in the past), but it is starting to get boring this way. A cargo train and a passanger train (that always has the same setup, never one loc and 2 coaches) is what we have been getting for the last 15 years.
  25. The railbus looks spot on! Very well brickbuild nose! And for the little station, it really has a warm feel to it.
