  1. Thank you, and I know exactly how you feel. Thank you very much! Yes, I'll definitely work on the ivy and shrubs. The statue is a nice idea, I can't remember anything like that near the house in Hergé's actual work but perhaps a little bit of imaginative deviation could work. I also toyed with the idea of opening windows, which I might get back to.
  2. I present to you my WIP MOC of Marlinspike Hall, Captain Haddock's home from Hergé's wonderful Tintin books. Hergé partly based the exterior of this iconic fictional building on a very real one, the Château de Cheverny, located in Loire Valley, France. I designed my model to split into three sections in the style of TLG's modular buildings, so that the interior could be easily accessed. As far as the interior goes, there is limited detail at this point. The ground floor at this moment is considerably plain. The lower right wing only contains a couch and the left wing is left completely empty. Here you can see the marble staircase clearly. If you physically built the set, you would notice a chunk of one of the steps is loose.. And the stairs continue up to the more furnished second floor. Here in the upper left wing we have a room with a comfy chair, a small table with a telephone, and Iago on his perch. And in the right wing a bedroom with a large bed, two chairs, and a painting. The top section is inaccessible from the inside as the roof had to be strengthened with 2x4s so it would hold up in real life. I might end up making room for a small attic in the middle part at some point. Check out all the pictures on my Flickr. So, tell me what you what you like or what you think could be improved!
  3. And according to Amazon Germany, the release date is April 4th, for both versions.
  4. As much as I really want both, I have to say Lothlorien.
  5. It's the Sea Cow, TLM gets released in February, so it makes complete sense.
  6. Okay, now it sort of makes sense, an August release would coincide with the original July release of TABA. Though by that logic it should cover all three movies.
  7. I'm quite sure it was July 18th.
  8. $230... still trying to figure out if that's acceptible.. better than 250 I suppose. Anyway, the more I see of it, the more I love this set.
  9. I don't know if anyone heard about this, but Toysnbricks reports some Target stores in Canada have the Mirkwood Elf poly for $1.05, among other sets up to 90% off their regular price. I've never seen any Hobbit polybags in stores though, bad luck for me.
  10. Don't worry, these are only variations on the regular versions we'll be getting in the Collectible Minifigure series. Speaking of which, when are we going to see pictures of those? Late February?
  11. That looks amazing! I'm a little bothered the walls are the wrong colors though. The set is pretty much guaranteed to be $200 USD, which is $250 CAD, which is too much. What a shame.
  12. Me too, aside from some tracks I thought were 'messy' there were a lot of cool themes in there. I like that it introduced what Howard Shore calls the House of Durin motif which is notably present in the beginning of In the Shadow of the Mountain and My Armor is Iron (0:53-1:14). I really loved that cue in the latter track. However I'm disappointed we didn't see a return of the misty mountain theme at all.
  13. Apparently the new sets are Hobbit ones, and not LOTR, according to chongcheng in the future LOTR thread.
  14. Well then. That's that.
  15. This is the only set and it's a D2C. I think $250 for this is outrageous. They could easily have made it a $130 set and still have all the necessary details.
  16. OH GOD I NEED THIS Do we have any info on pricing?
  17. American Hustle. Didn't know much about it going in, but I loved it. There was a clear emphasis on the focus of the characters rather than plot, which I didn't mind. Christian Bale was great. I thought his elaborate comb over was hilarious. Jennifer Lawrence was good as well. I heartily suggest it to everyone.
  18. While I haven't picked up my set yet (waiting for a sale), from the looks of it Lake Town appears to be the superior of this wave build-wise.
  19. Interesting. Which trailer would this be? Radagast was never mentioned in the film versions of LOTR, so it's actually quite possible. Anything can happen in TABA, as DOS has proven.
  20. I am curious, does LEGO's license with WB to make middle-earth sets expire after TABA? Or could they technically make more sets? Edit: And BAM! I am officially an EB Citizen.
  21. Man, that is cool. Smaug looks excellent, and I love the technique you used for the windows, simple but effective!
  22. I meant because the DOS wave didn't have one, we probably wouldn't get one next wave.
  23. Awesome, but nobody pointed out 79016 is missing.
  24. Here's the whole image, Is that Lothlorien under Shelob?
