  1. I agree the city ac is rather dull and not very Christmas like. That may be on purpose so that children can incorporate the pieces into their regular playing. And just as the regular line comes out with a steady stream of police and fire sets it's not surprising the ac sticks to the same formula. As for the friends ac, we have gotten the first two but won't be getting this years since they seem to be variations of the exact same set. Two mini dolls with a great deal of accessories which is much the same as any toy line geared toward girls. When it stops working then TLG make make changes but until then they will continue to stick to what sells.
  2. Customer service reps have absolutely no idea what is coming out until right before it is released. That is one way TLG is able to keep, everything so secretive.
  3. I thought it was pretty good. It's a much more accurate depiction of pirate life. The producers have put in a good amount of detail from a much more historic perspective. Not the Hollywood version of people swinging from ropes, and spending all their time at sea saying arrrr. There are several episodes in a row where they are not at sea at all. There were many complaints of the lack of swashbuckling. But if you can get through those it is well worth seeing how the season ends. You won't be disappointed.
  4. I wouldn't be surprised to see Boba Fett in Rebels. Perhaps in a secondary story line or someone who occasionally crosses paths with the main characters. He is a popular character, evidenced by possibly getting his own movie, who ties PT and OT together. While some would be drawn into rebels by r2 and c3po, I think Boba would have a greater appeal. Particularly to those who are big OT fans. I do agree that a ucs slave 1 wouldn't be based on rebels since he is not a main character. Though that doesn't mean it's not the same ship we would see if he were in rebels. Which would be a big bonus for TLG to feature such a ship.
  5. It seems unlikely TLG would deviate from the three advents. They are a specialty item to begin with that does not appeal to everyone. Plus they have to compete against all the other advent calendars, some which are deeply rooted in family tradition. Thus in order for them to be successful they need a large fan base. Star Wars is in its own category all by itself and also would appeal to non lego fans. The city line is TLG's in-house power line and appeals to both children and their parents thus making it a popular choice. Lastly, in TLG's push to engage more girls the friends line, where growth is most likely the greatest of all lines, rounds off the three. If the friends line were to faulter TLG might consider a substitute or more likely just go with the two. While having a change would be nice there really isn't a line that could compete at the same level. The only line that might work would be a combined Marvel/DC which would have a licensing mountain to climb from the start.
  6. Brickset.com is a good one to know. They have a database with all the sets and instructions. Brickpicker.com is another one. While geared toward investing it is a good source for sets going on sale at a variety of places both online and instore. Including more than the usual suspects like amazon, target and walmart.
  7. From what I understand he actually died. And that nick fury with the help of doctors brought him back to life using dr. Frankenstein type measures.
  8. Let it go, let it go.....
  9. Mos Eisley. Nostalgia will be in full swing. And while I love the green space people, the exo suit doesn't do much for me.
  10. The movie reminded me a great deal of Indiana jones and the crystal kingdom. Seemed like a well produced amusement park ride you would find at universal. While I was not completely bothered by the deviations from the book, the actions sequences seemed dumbed down and often times made no sense at all.
  11. Alan Tran from The Brick Fan confirms this saying he was told it will be in an upcoming set. Unless this set is an exclusive, this will be a good one to wait on for amazon to discount. Which could easily happen in November when they discount many of their lego sets.
  12. The price makes me wonder if the license is soon to expire. Thus the need to quickly recoup costs.
  13. Are those two sections hinged together? Smaug looks great, the rest is disappointing to say the least.
  14. On brickset. http://brickset.com/sets/7256-1/Jedi-Starfighter-and-Vulture-Droid http://brickset.com/sets/7283-1/Ultimate-Space-Battle
  15. Seems to make the most sense to go with preview figures particularly due to TLG's ongoing battle with third party sellers. It gives the convention goers a first crack at a figure while not ultimately excluding everyone else. Everyone else mainly being their target customer, children. The exclusives seemed to have generated some bad blood as of late, something I'm sure TLG would like to further avoid. After Azog probably not.
  16. The ship is for the pirates line which is completely separate and appears to be continuing next year. What Sarah is most likely referring to is kingdom line which has more adult looking castles. It seems unlikely we will see anything like that next year since a castle line is still out plus it appears pirates and maybe the space line is returning next year.
  17. Doing so would make absolutely no sense from any perspective. The exclusives are meant as promotional material, not a farewell finger. Nor would they announce an ending to TLoR,, which something they don't normally do anyway. Not to mention the fact they are still selling the second wave and have a third wave of hobbit coming out. Unfortunately TLoR may be a casualty of the TLG's push away from licensed sets. A line that was used to build up to the hobbit movies and ended up not being the money maker to ensure its continuance.
  18. RFOL? (Retired friend) SFOL? (Senior friend) LLFOL?(long lived) That's all I got for now. Good story.
  19. I've never actually been to the Water Tower store. I tend to avoid mich. ave since parking can be very difficult and it's full out tuourists.. I did go to,the Schaumburg store after going to brickworld and they had a good selection. They added a table near the middle of the store covered witht boxes of Pab. I'm not sure if they was because of brickworld or will be a regular feature. I plan on going again in the next week or so,to,check out the new parts.
  20. http://www.thebrickfan.com/dk-officially-reveals-emperor-palpatine-minifigure-for-lego-star-wars-the-dark-side/ The official announcement including pic of full emperor minifig.
  21. Well since it says right on the sandcrawler box, UCS, then TLG would disagree with your assessment. They after all get to define their product. Though some might disagree.
  22. The prices are almost never equal if converted.
