  1. I never had a problem mixing them in this project. Years ago at first, with the original SW and HP fleshies, I felt dirty, but there is so many available now, that they kind of just mix and match. I just view them as different ethnicities, Which works since in skin colors we have black and dark skinned figs too.
  2. So... I was finishing my contribution for the mini challenge... and I realized that I broke the rules in a challenge I set!!!! haha. I made it two baseplates instead of one (You will see why). So if we do get a few and set these up for judging by the group, I can't participate. I should have pictures up in a little bit -- if my dog didn't break my camera when she knocked it off the table. (Fingers crossed)
  3. Ok... Those figs are going to go really well in Kaliphlin. BOTH factions!!!! Nice. And red could make its way into Nocturus, but the Greener guilds better start buying up chess pieces!!!
  4. That crypt roof is fantastic! Can't wait to see the rest of the story.
  5. NM. Looking good! Great to see another city of Kaliphlin. Which type of elemental did the destruction? If fire, I would put some black or brown charred areas in. As for at the base of the walls, maybe small temporary huts for the workers. I look forward to the crane, and maybe you could find a way to put in scaffolding to bring out more of the reconstruction vibe? The path doesn't bother me, but the green does stick out. I look forward to the final version. On another note, I am glad to see more troops heading to Queenscross. Real life has moved the battle back until mid February. I have 14 days to pick up work on my dissertation and application so I am eligible for a fellowship that will allow me to stop teaching 10 classes a semester and concentrate on finishing my dissertation. That would make things much easier for me. So, I will not be building much in the next few weeks. Although, since I initiated the January push, I will make sure to put something together tonight or tomorrow to participate. I think DaMax is the first and only to participate in our mini-event so far...
  6. The tree is pretty awesome there. Nice little build. Hopefully he got away!
  7. There were a few troll wars around Eastgate, but they were not large an encompassing. Plus, I think Avalonia was technically in chaos until what, 5 years ago? There may have been some major fighting when the Dragonflight showed up. But, I think this may be the first battle of the first continent wide (or majority of the continent-wide) war in over 100 years. Probably technically more, since we can assume there was some sort of peace process that brought about the kingdom, and it probably was long and drawn out during a time of ceasefire. There was also the Slave Rebellion in Kaliphlin that was successful in freeing our liege, but we do not know on what scale this rebellion took place.
  8. Awwwwesome! I love epic scenes. I agree with NM, I would have liked to have seen other important parts of the battle, but I am still very impressed. From Petera: I am glad to hear that Mpya Stedor has held. I hope that our soldiers were of good use to Lord DaMaximus. We send word that Lord Dugal has fought a successful delaying action, and that the battle for Queenscross is estimated to be a few weeks away still. Scouts say that the enemy army may be nearly as impressive as the one which attempted to take Mpya Stedor. Only time will tell. We do have one query though, did Lord DaMaximus see any of the elemental creatures or their masters at this battle? The creatures that have terrorized Historica for months seem to have gone dormant. We worry that these mortal armies that Victor has sent against us may only be a ruse, while the real forces gather more strength. I am still building the battlefield for Queenscross, including (crossing fingers) the giant ancient bridge that crosses the Arkabi River. Although, I don't even know the outcome, because a friend and I are going to fight it as a war game. In the next week I will put out a general call for soldiers like my brother and I did last summer for the battle in the mystic isles. I know about 7 people were able to send troops that I could represent in battle, I hope to see even more this time. I am guessing Lord DaMaximus might be throwing some men our way now that his battle is over :)
  9. I don't know if they are giving free-build points for army pics... I assumed not. I just posted it for story. I don't know if anyone expect points for those kind of builds.
  10. Who shot J.R.? I mean... who stabbed the Jarl?
  11. The maps don't include every town and drill site in the Badlands, but there are not as many sources of water as one would think.
  12. That flood of posts confused the hell out of me. Welcome to GoH, whoever the heck you people are. Also, Red and Gold = Nocturnus. I agree with too much green, Mitgardia should have been just Dark Blue, and Kaliphlin normal and light blue and red. But that is my personal opinion. It always takes me a minute to figure out who is Mitgardian and who is Avalonian, but then we just look at their lack of trousers and good beer, and we know they are Mitgardian.
  13. I am not a big fan of sideways building (I like studs!) but this is excellent work with the rocks, and even where the horse seems to be in the water because you lowered the plate, that is really cool too.
  14. Ha Ha!!! Very interesting, and a nice little seaside home! I really need to get more brick pattern bricks, I like that you made the foundation with them.
  15. We just mentioned over in the Avalonia thread how we missed you! Glad to see you back! I hope your health problems were minor and that you are in full recovery. You did not let us down, some of us just wondered what happened :) Anyway, great ship! Glad to see another Kaliphlin vessel out to sea!
  16. I am interested in a blue lion theme, but then again, I love crown knights and wish I would have bought more, so these will be welcome similar colored additions to my armies. Also, lion + blue = Kaliphlin in GoH. Sounds good to me. I do wish a non-dragon symbol was chosen for the other faction though. Unicorn or Pegasus maybe?
  17. Cool. Is the lord's outfit aftermarket pieces? Or do those come from a Lego set, and I just have not seen it yet?
  18. Does anyone remember if any of our members have "claimed" or worked in Queencross before? I did a MOC overlooking it once, but I don't think much of the story of QC or it's rulers have been told. Is it alright if I make up a ruling family of the city for my upcoming battle outside the city? If it was just a minor town I wouldn't really ask, but I don't want to step on anybody's toes here.
  19. You are quickly becoming my favorite Nocturnian.
  20. Didn't Gabe win two of the challenges? Although I can't remember the last time he posted... (October :( ) Wow, this thread blew up fast! I am a Buffalo Bills fan, so yeah I win the losing sports team reference! (If I need more credentials, I root for the Blue Jays and the Cavaliers too...) Also, boasting the most members (by a lot) and points (by a little), does not necessarily equate to a good argument that the best live here in Avalonia. You all have many more entries than the next guild, and are not winning by the biggest margin -- meaning the points per build are actually a lot lower than the other guilds probably. So before we start throwing around championships and points totals, you all should probably stick to your strongest suit -- the large quantity of HIGH quality builders you all have and the amount of tights you produce per week. Both are higher than the other guilds. That is a good reason, but I find Avalonian beer too fruity.
  21. If I were committing real troops, you would know. That was an escort back to the borders of Avalonia. ROFLMFAO. Thank you for bringing in the logic. It is going to be a cold winter in Avalonia - better get the extra thick leggings out.
  22. I know. Unfortunately, I am limited for space right now and I still have not found a good solution to solid background at this house. If that gameboard in the background wasn't set up, I probably could have put up a sheet or something, but without disturbing the Axis and Allies game that we have running, I was without an option. Also, it did not allow me to use a better Macro lens. And, a little bit of it was that I wanted to get it up fast to keep the action going. I could have used a larger all uniform army, but I think Kaliphlin is more diverse than anyone else, and it shows in who shows up wearing what. Although Eastgate is not one of the desert cities, I still think it is diverse as its sister cities. Plus, I had to give Kai something to update about Deregar! hahaha j/k Kai, keep up the good work!
  23. We don't like splitting forces further, but we felt that this unprovoked slight needed a response. We Have sent Deregar the Bull to kindly escort Zakon's troops back to their own border. DSC_1920 by skaforhire, on Flickr Also, after looking at those links DaMax posted, it brings back memories of guildies who are no longer with us. Many of them had really interesting characters, sad that their stories never developed further.
  24. Every good threat needs a response. Stay out of my woods!
