  1. yes, i will do it if you do! lol... haha... but anyway, i dont think lego has caught up to this company yet. I believe this one is in Hong Kong, and doesnt fall completely under chinese jurisdiction... China recently shut down Coko bricks (which i would love to find one of those pirate ships!) I remember someone saying the bricks were kind of cheep from these fake pirate sets... but i cant remember... for 18 dollars american it might be worth buying the small set... to see what it is like... that one merchant looking fig is kind of cool Though, i havent seen one on ebay for a while, and i dont know if you can buy direct off their site... also i am wary of private feedback people...
  2. i actually contacted the seller when the bid was running out and no one bid.... i said i would give her 200 bucks, she said she wanted more and listed at 269... then i wrote her and told her everything that was wrong with her posting... and told her how we had discussed it on a AFOL board.... she wrote back and said she was new at selling lego and just wanted to make some money.... she wantedthe name of the boards i was discussing on. but havent decided if i was going to give her any names of any forums... because she is liquidation her lego.. not really a fan. all we need is spam from sellers.... i also told her she should include all of the figures that came with the ships if she wants to sell it... and change her title to multiple MOCs custome lego pirate ships...
  3. i hate when i get lego with food or snot or something on it.... it really is gross lol.... i think i am done buying large lots.... icky.
  4. Too expensive to build that is for sure! lol cool idea tho
  5. well i lied about one thing, i didnt research cocaine on the internet, i know what it looks like (a long time ago hehehe) it was cut with something... i am not sure what. But there was not TONNES in it.. it was a couple ounzes though i would estimate.... and yes phes i kept the lego... they are sitting in many mixing bowls full of water and dish soap.... i just rescued the figs and they are drying now... The person was from texas, but urban TX, she sounded like a crackhead when i had to talk to her for a week about her finally shipping the damn things, maybe she really was.... oh well. the question is should i give her positive feedback for the special suprise! LMAO on another note, i blind bought another 15 lbs of lego/megablocks (and a nother clone which WASN'T mentioned in the auction...) i am more disapointed with the pieces in this one as they are mostly pieces from soccer sets and snowboard sets.... oh well thats what i get... but 2 bucks a lb of lego is good rate.... so i had to do it.
  6. Interesting, i cant seem to find a picture of a 4 masted ship that wasn't schooner rigged, so i don't know what they actually look like, i tend to stick to smaller brigs and light frigates in my research... I did find a picture of some 4 masted ships which were square rigged, but the fourth mast was a a small mizenmast and not much of a mast at all.... do you have any pictures you are basing this off of? also, on cannons.... i love cannons too much, it is way to expensive to outfit ships for me. Your ship would be VERY expensive with lego cannons... that is if you gave yourself any more gun ports (you were saying you feel like the armament is light) at 3-4 dollars a pop on bricklink cannons don't come cheep. Its up to what you prefer... i dont know if anyone would hold it against you if you kept her light! also... i love that you did this in L-cad (or isnt it?) out of curiosity... can that program break this ship down into a parts listing? that would be sweet feature... one that i may start building my ships on if so... cant wait to see the real thing!
  7. So as many of you know i had some trouble a couple weeks ago on ebay with a lady who would not send me my package even though i had already paid her! well after a week the standoff was over, and she sent me my lego. i was out of town this weekend, so my brother had brought the package home. I arive home tonight 1:00am and find a huge box of legos! im like, right on! I open it and i immediately notice a couple things... first MINIFIGS! all together 10 imperials, 20 pirates, 5 really old castle, 7 or 8 ice planet/m-tron/blacktron figs and a couple wolfpack figs... I am like, sweet! 10 imperials! yes! the next thing i know, which had not been stated in the auction but i had a hunch there might be one in there, a complete Imperial flagship. Also the next thing i found was two complete raft raiders sets! also mentionable, a set of sealed blacktron landing strip baseplates...i have NO CLUE what i will do with those, any suggestions... Then my find got ugly.... first of all, what is worse then getting used lego from a smoking household? getting used lego from a weed smoking household... the lego in this package stinks to high hell and is now all sitting in many tubs of watter and dish soap... even the sails for IF and RR.... YUCK! But it gets worse my friends! as i was getting to the bottom of the 12 lbs box of treasure i start to notice some sort of white powdery substanch on the legos... at first i thought, ANTHRAX! then i calmed down and realized that they could totally be traced... besides this look like it fell in at the last moment and shifted to the bottom of the box... so can you guess what the white powder was? (or at least what i assume it is after doing some research on the web?) Thats right.... Cocaine! WTF! um so this is a nightmare.... i went out and dumped it in the lake and threw the box out... GROSS! some people need to keep their habbits away from lego... HAHA SO that prompts me to ask, what is the worst find you have found when buying used lego?
  8. Thanks for the compliment. I don't have a whole lot to add, if you look up either the Black Seas Barracuda or Skulls Eye Schooner on ebay or bricklink, youd have a great start, but be prepared to share your plunder matey. On the other hand, there are ways to use normal parts, I think the ship from the Imperial Trading Post (anyone have pictures?) is a good example of that. However, since I think you want larger size, that may not work as well. Hope some of that helps! God bless, Sean if max is looking for set numbers, the set numbers are lego 6285 and 6286... hope that helps when you arel ooking... i would check bricklink, but you might be better off on ebay getting one of these for the parts.
  9. I really like it, it is sort of minimalist, but alot of warships were. the sterncastle could be lengthened, that might fix it, also slopes may help to round out the feeling of the ship when connecting the sterncastle and the main deck. overall, i enjoy it. its a pitty you can not have the corinthian and the marathon built at once.
  10. I would bid if it was 200... i can tell that the ships are atleast 95% complete, which is good enough for me... but 400 is way too much for that last line of pirates... And i agree, those figs are not very attractive for the auction. it makes me wonder what happened to all the minifigs that came with those four sets. i could see someone purchasing this at its current price if they want a quick pirate fix, but i would not suggest it unless one was desperate. edit: rephrase that a bit... i can tell that 95% of the parts are still there... he did custom all the ships. its easy to tell what that last line had since there was such a small piece count. I think this guy may have been playing one of the pirate wargames, he has the ships with the right amount of cannons for their class for evil stevie's game. his RBR is modified to hold more cannons too... too bad he doesn't have the cannons to arm all his ships and base...
  11. I dont know, I have both, I have used the flagship more for things because it looks slicker in my opinion. The CC has to be better for playability though, more hull room... I always felt that the european factions got totally boned on ships thruout the line.... though i really like Armada Flagship because of the colors lol... however all are small and undergunned... CC is probably the best ship out of all of them, but IF looks like it sails better... guess it is all personal opinion.
  12. The link you provided leads me to an auction which has the BSB for $0.06, so where do you get the $124? they must have changed their auction it was buy it now 124... knew i shoul have gnabbed that one up... just didnt have the cast or a good excuse to give to my fiance. Too bad no one got it before they checked... they probabbly went back and were like, "were crazy for setting a buy it now on this item!"
  13. alas... i don't really have more then a couple islanders... and they don't make it that often into my creations... I give props to those who can build islander stuff! its always cool to see! for me POTC is pretty different from lego, they are seperate stories, and I am not influenced to build ghost ships or anything from it.... so i guess i don't see the tarnishing on lego. If i think about it, there are a couple here who really like fantasy, and then a couple who really don't and then the rest of us are pretty much in the middle and open to whatever someone posts. I think we also get alot of people that go both ways with acuracy and set design, some strive for both, some strive for one or the other... but i think its good that we are all receptive towards each other's designs...
  14. yes i echo that sentiment that it is great to see variety! The onlything right now that i can think of is, are you going to add another sail to it? it seems to me that it needs atleast one more... i dont know if you want to schooner rig it or square rig, but just seems like its missing one.
  15. Yah those arnt super, and the cannons being over the rail...I've done that to play Evil Stevies Pirate Game, but you shouldnt do that on a ship, no ship was ever built like that. (Atleast I think) and work on the colors a bit...But they are pretty much alright. Cool. i am going to go agaisnt the grain on this one, other then on the sterncastle railing, I feel if you can make it white it would flow alot better. (oh and the window, due to the limited amount of choices I know i can forgive you for having light grey :P ) Anyway, i think it is a very attractive ship. I love the color scheme. The cannons over the rail do come on some ships, but usually smaller ships with swivil systems on the cannon... however, I feel this works for you, especially if you need the room on the deck. I really like this ship and can't wait for some more pics. edit: though i will ask if you had planned this to be a british ship first? reason being, isnt that a flag with the cross of st. george on it flying on her bowsprit? then again there could be a state flag with that that I am not aware of...
  16. I love the use of arches, and perhaps the sterncastle is too high, but you could raise the bow perhaps one or two blocks, that would make it look more into that period (with high sterncastles, there was usually a raised bow.) but i think it works likethis. This is a nice sloop for sure. I love the double bowsprit sails... don't see that often deployed on smaller lego ships.
  17. its the medium size one (still a 3 mast ship tho, i think it looks better then the really big ship) but lots of pieces none-the-less while we are talkign about ebay, maybe one of you folks in england want to jump on this buy it now 6 pounds for forbidden island http://cgi.ebay.com/Lego-Pirate-Theme-No-6...16358096QQihZ001QQcategoryZ56310QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem quick quick quick.... i dont want to pay shipping to USA... also if you want a quick BSB that is a buy it now at 124 dollars
  18. cool... ill make my slave make some... i mean my fiance. thats what graphic designers are for right? shes a mac head too... i am trying to figure out if anyone had grey uniforms durring the period... because i seem to have alot of grey minifigs that coudl be converted...
  19. They still stand after six months?! mine fell apart, in an hour, crappy best lock :-| haha... well i found that they are the same company (the ghost pirates sets and the set i have) i just have some of the older stuff... which looks better in my oppinion... I am wondering if the hull is usable for lego... and maybe the masts... doubt it and dont know if i want to open sealed box or just sell the sucker off hoping to cover some lego (and naval bookbuying) costs...
  20. I'm sure they could, but eveybody and his brother build large and long ships. I just would prefer some more medium to small ships more often, like Evil Willy's Lotus I know whoat you mean... Though i do plan to build a "monster ship" someday, since i don't really have one yet that i want to keep. Update on paypal, looks like the woman caved, she is sending me my legos! whoo hoo! i wont have to send my forces into her country and reak havok with laser guided missiles. Also, was over at my mom's today, where my real collection lies, besides crying over the dust that has befell my three BSBs sitting side by side, i made sure all my relatives know if i am to die what to ask for all those ships lol! also i found a best lock ship NIB that i had forgotten i had (i actually have two, but couldnt find the other one) i am debating opening the ship and building it to see what it looks like when it comes out. if any of you are familiar with best lock, its slightly incompatible with lego because the studs are too long i believe (been a while since i opened one to look at it) also i think the pieces look "duller" then lego and don't shine nicely :( the minis are horrible.... but the ship looks ok on its own... thinking about building it for wargaming... OR... selling it on ebay, i just saw one of their imperial ships went for over 100 dollars not new in box... so this could be some good cash for legos... or could provide a different ship for my growing navy... this is the link to it... they used to have TONS of ships if i remember correctly, i thought they were the same company as the one that makes those ghost sets in the states, but perhaps i am thinking another ocmpany (which means i should go look at their bricks to see the compatibility...) so i have hijacked this thread to talk about other <insert that tiresome argument> looking lego clones! hehe... actually it isn't very junior, just not up to snuff with system pirates... and if anyone find COKO ships (some really nice looking clone ships are available from them, original designs that compete with lego IMHO) pleae let me know what you think of them!
  21. The many books on the subject such as, "A General History of the Pyrates by Daniel Defoe" Where did you buy "A General History of the Pyrates by Daniel Defoe" i can't believe someone is actually selling this book and attributing it to daniel defoe. It was proven a few years ago that the author wasn't defoe there are soooo many copies, and reprints, and fake copies, and stolen copies of that book that it would be imposible not to find a new version by defoe, plus since no one owns defoe's rights (copyright gone long ago) and there is no sort of estate to protect his name, i could right a book and claim it is by him! lol. his name sells the book better then by captain johnson (the real author, but probably a psydonym,,,) What really ticks me off is when i pick up a "new" book on pirates and i realize it is stollen strait from this book, they take a couple pirates stories from it, rearange it and reprint it. devios bastards!
  22. wow, i too am imagining how you are going to do this... that is going to be awesome! am i counting right, 7 midsections? its late my eyes are not working enough to trust them... I can't wait to see her finished, how many guns do you think she will work out to be?
  23. its been awhile since I've had my haul keeled, send forth the ladies! LMAO good show. good show...
  24. i reaaly like the commadore... alot of times they did wear a green like that, when wet looked blue! but since the continental congress could barely afford food let alone uniforms, uniforms of many military men were made from all different materials, the hope was for blue, but as you have states that want to be more independent, colors got varied. However the other two remind me of the french! :) which is ok, they helped us alot. I am wondering if we even had used some of their uniforms in our "navy" but overall, love the custom torsos... not daring enough for me to do this... well maybe i am just would hvae to buy a bunch of bad figs... ::checks bricklink:: hehe keep up the good work! ::edit:: what torsos would people suggest for some of these custom uniforms, and what kind of adhesive is used to stick the uniforms on... and heck is there a certain paper used?
  25. Do you think master ship builder could get away with 4 hull pieces for a ship that is slightly bigger than the Black Seas Barracuda and Skulls Eye Schooner? An unconfirmed shipping address? Can you get the shipping address confirmed? Anyway, for that price you should easily fall under the eBay Buyers protection fund so if she won't refund the money or send the LEGO within a week or two open up an "Item not recieved dispute" to let her know you're serious. If that doesn't get you anywhere then take the dispute further and eBay will provide you with assistance. nope, because i am not verified by paypal... and if i did get verified it takes like a month to do it becaue they ahve to send you "secret codes" BTW thats their words not my interpretation... they only confirm billing addresses, which i said was fine she could send it to my CONFIRMED billing address, but for somereason, even though paypal says its confirmed she says it isnt. (i originally paid and told it to send to me at my unconfirmed shipping address, because i am at school) The woman is not very responding. i will take action monday if i hear nothing more... paypal has refunded me money before, didnt know EBAY would too... i will follow though there.
