  1. Hmm, I don't think so. Woody would need to be perfectly balanced on the runner and he looks pretty stable. As well as that, the gap he's sitting in looks wider than his legs, and what what really got me wondering was why the two round 2x4 bricks were facing the same way. Right now, I'm leaning towards a 1x2x2 panel, but I'm still not sure. Oh man, am I overthinking stuff tonight.
  2. I don't know about that. They get their money, but then they get a reputation for being out of stock (which is why limits exist in the first place, particularly in Inconspicuous' case I'd suspect). It's often better for the shop if a lot of people can have some of something than one having all and others having none, even though the till is the same. I'd say that TLG will definitely up production for Series 2, too. There's no problem with availability here in Ireland (from what I've seen - Galway and Cork) but there definitely seems to be a shortage overall. I wonder which demographic is buying the most. I've bought about two dozen myself.
  3. I can't figure out how the log is constructed.
  4. I've never really liked the look of Cobi minifigs, their expressions look somewhat odd. Other that that, they have a great Romans line I like, but don't own any of.
  5. Yes, he probably just saw how much the Western Train Set costs in Europe. The same thing happened to me in the shop....
  6. Nice little selection of parts. I have five tokens so far, one more and I'll send off (these two plus the one from Build-a-Buzz will give me three aliens, the perfect number!). I probably won't even bother building the ship, it's all about the little green dude!
  7. The dynamite wick is thin and flexible but it's also very resilient to damage. It's fine.
  8. 1. No 2. Individual 3. The Great Sphinx of Giza 4. The Titanic 5. I don't actually own any of these sets, they're way out of my budget, so I'm answering as though I had just won the lotto. I've always wanted to own the Taj Mahal set. I didn't really like the Eiffel Tower set. It looked terribly jaggy thanks to the use of sloped brinks being stubbournly avoided.
  9. Ngghr! This is so hard! Okay, after much deliberation, I'll split my three votes thisaways: 1 to 20, Noodles140's Skater Boy 1 to 35, Колпак's Robot 1 to 52, graznador's Diver Special mentions to Torham's Titanic, Jammiedodger's Thriller and Jameson42's Town Guys for making me laugh out loud too!
  10. A rather excellent Irish band called Fight Like Apes. Their debut album's a year old, but I only discovered them recently, through that Power Miners video.
  11. ...compared to what?? I never thought it could happen here, but my local Smyths sold out their two boxes in a couple of days. Way more popular than I'd expected. I didn't even get any from them.
  12. It seems like all of the accessories have been slightly modified. I even noticed some differences in the diver's visor: A slightly higher nose, and althered vertical lines on the sides, along with a new © LEGO stamp.
  13. It's Street Fighter 2. Chun Li has just hit Ryu a rather nasty kick to the stomach.
  14. It looks like it says Hamm on the back of the box. It's the same Hamm figure from the pizza truck anyhow, just with a new hat.
  15. I bought the Airport Traveller and Atlantean impulse sets, wheee! I've never seen impulse sets on sale in any Irish shop before! They're something I associate with being on holidays!! Also bought two of the little Power Miners sets with the bike and the red rock monster because they were half price in Tesco. €2.50! Let's see if I can amass an army of red rock monsters.
  16. Thanks fr the great review! This set was my priority for this year, but unfortunately this review looks like being the closest I'll get to it. I'm just back from town and it's selling at €99.99, which is way out of my price range. I was expecting €60, €70 tops. Bit gutted right now....
  17. Great. Now I forget which one of you is actually Siegfried. Happy birthday to everbody, just to be safe!
  18. There's a Smurfs movie coming out? *checks internet* Dear God, it sounds awful. Central Park? Really? What is this, the 1980s? I quite like the look of the Megabloks sets. I won't be getting them, but as standalones, they're quite cute.
  19. If the Lego designers were just coming up with ideas they thought would be in the movie, then an ostrich race is a damned strange assumption to make.
  20. Wow, lovely looking set. This whole line is buried so deep in my dark age that I didn't know it existed until about six months ago. But, um.... ...that poor guy in the red sleeves did get out of the way in time, right?
  21. I'll have to give another nod to Rick: Princess Tamina: "Dastan, that's a brick-built parrot, you're not going to get very far on that." Dastan: "I know, I'm going to build a plane out of it."
  22. I'm reading Garden of Rama, the third in the epic Arthur C. Clarke/Gentry Lee Rama quadrilogy. Erm... haven't read any of the others, but this has been lying around the house for almost two decades and I've recently discovered just how amazing Clarke is so I decided, ehh, couldn't hurt. Thankfully, most of the references back to books 1 and 2 are cryptic snapshots so I'll still enjoy them if I ever buy them. I'm sure as heck enjoying this.
  23. A mannequin would be great, for shop windows and mall layouts. The clothes don't even matter since most people will use other torsos. To make it look more like a mannequin, then, how about if it came with a price tag accessory rather than a printed one? Something for around the neck so that it looks like it's attached to the chest.
  24. I have three sealed packs beside me, I haven't opened them because I know (from the barcodes) that they contain a cowboy and two dummies and I don't particularly need those right now. And it's really hard to tell which one is the cowboy. It's not just the packaging that's the problem. That's made of thick, metallic plastic. Think of those big bags of jelly sweets (Do they sell Haribo worldwide?) and imagine something slightly more rigid and completely opaque. Then, each pack contains a folded paper slip listing all the minifigs, and that makes it very difficult to feel through to the parts. It is possible to try and jam an accessory down in one of the corners and feel what it is. I've managed to find the cowboy by isolating his gun down there, but it could be easy to mistake for a syringe. The Cheerleader's pom-pom could easily be mistaken for a hairpiece, if you could even get something that big away from the paper. You could probably spend five minutes per pack doing it this way, but it's not impossible.
  25. Well, bananas are €1.39 a bag, you need three so that's about €4, plus the €2.89 p&p they need, makes it around €7 each. The aliens are going for about €5-6 on Bricklink, but that's without the spaceship and the 24 bananas. Edit: Oh, hi Fugazi, where'd you come from....
