  1. Sweet. The only allowances they'd made were to Leela's ponytail and shoulder straps. This actually looks like a cool new figure motif that could catch on.
  2. They all had their moments (even Bender's Big Game had the Morks) but overall, they weren't a patch on the originals. I do like the first two, I've watched them more than once, but the humour just isn't of the same caliber. And the need to show every character they've ever used in the Great Green Yonder, stripping them of all context and, in the case of the characters that actually did stuff (like Mr. Wong or Leela's gang), making them behave completely out of character, meant that Futurama was heading into lame, self-referential, illogical, in-jokey Simpsons territory.
  3. Really? I didn't have high hopes. I felt the four movies showed that Futurama had jumped the shark badly.
  4. Yes, that's why I specifically said the Zombie doesn't look like an actor. The three you mention are all smiley, happy, non-threatening people because they're not meant to be real. This guy also doesn't fit the Adventures theme wearing a business suit. However, I do agree that a different design of zombie released in a future set would be both possible and awesome. I'd love a red cheerleader and a rival wrestler too.
  5. I love how accurate the models are, colours aside all of the bricks and techniques are spot on. Other shows would just randomly create its own bricks or paint the eyes on, but Futurama never lets nerds down.
  6. I dunno, a lot of these don't make sense in sets. I can't imagine what the Zombie would come in, for example. He looks too realistic to be an actor. Some of these may receive wider release, but deffo not all of them.
  7. Stealth! I saw that in the cinema, and I go to the cinema like once a year. It sounded like such a braindead Homer Simpson movie, I couldn't not go. I wasn't disappointed. I finally watched the whole of Thunderball yesterday. I'm a big James Bond fan but that movie is such an absolute yawnfest that I never made it the whole way through before. I can't understand why it's generally regarded as one of the better Bonds. Well, I'll admit it's not as bad as Die Another Day.
  8. Ah. Excellent response. I could practically feel my brain cells clicking into place. Makes sense, thanks!
  9. Well, France are gone. I'm not one to hold a grudge but while I'm sure there are Irish people who are thrilled with that result, I will admit it's nice to have somebody to root against sometimes. Too bad South Africa had to exit with them. I like it when the host is a lesser football power but still makes it out of the groups.
  10. Somebody important confirmed that the minifigs were being produced in equal quantities, didn't they? I don't know where the quote is. Not all boxes had the same breakdown, but there were definitely patterns. And the thing about new molds meaning lower production doesn't hold up. Here's what whitefang got, which seems to be a dominant pattern in Europe: 4 Cavemen 3 Cheerleaders 3 Circus Clowns 4 Cowboys 5 Deep Sea Divers 5 Demolition Dummies 4 Forestmen 4 Magicians 5 Ninja 3 Nurses 4 Robots 3 Skaters 4 Spacemen 3 Super Wrestler 3 Tribal Hunters 3 Zombies The wrestler and zombie have no new parts, but only appeared three times. The zombie's chickenleg is slightly different from the normal, but so is the diver's visor and the forestman's bow. The Spaceman is loaded down with new parts but appeared four times. The Skater only has new hair but came up three times. The most valuable ones are the ones that most people are actively trying to get. It's nothing to do with variations in supply.
  11. I'm just wondering why some contests allow Brickarms and custom elements, but not clone brands or Megabloks. What really is the difference? They're all technically not Lego.
  12. They're all made of the Chinese plastic, and yes, it's infuriating when there are slight colour differences. I tried mixing the Cheerleader up a bit by combining her with the fig pictured below (Cheerleader head and legs, this lady's hair and torso) and the head's different colour was extremely noticable. I took it apart, it looked too bad.
  13. I'm not an army builder either, and I think I'd be happy with three. They're not like the Zombies, which I am trying to amass, because Zombies are quite versatile while the Romans can pretty much be used for one thing only. Two, counting costume parties or tour guides. So yeah, three figs for me, a patrol commander and his two subordinates for display. I don't think there are any in Series 2 that I'd like large numbers of. On another note, I was cleaning out my backpack this morning and found an unopened pack from the batch I got a week ago! Yay, a Caveman! Made my day!
  14. The Portugal game was fantastic. The first half was fairly even, great flow from both sides, but the second half was a masterclass from Portugal. They simply carved the Koreans up, their tactics were beautiful to watch. Unfortunately, I couldn't watch it all, and it was 4-0 when I had to go. They scored three more? Nice. With Ireland and all of my usual backup sides (Poland, Sweden, Scotland) not qualified, I've just been taking each match as it comes, but from here on I think I'll cheer the Portugeuse. Speaking of getting up early, the times this year are perfect for my time zone, matches at 12.00, 3.30 and 7.00. Similar to last time, in Germany. 2014's in Brazil, that'll be havoc for my sleep cycle.
  15. I was wondering when a Romans vs Greeks argument was going to break out. I'm surprised it took so long. I've been calling him a Roman out of habit. It makes more sense for Lego to produce a Roman before a Greek because they're simply more well-known among kids. They see a guy in golden armour carrying a spear? They think Roman, gladiator, legionnaire. Not Greek. As for the surfer dude, yeah, I meant to mention that his hairpiece is just as useful as his torso. It'll be perfect for my Ken Masters minifig.
  16. I see a lot of people calling the surfer dude a favourite in Series 2, why is that? Is it just the barechested torso, or are there other reasons? He's low on my own list of priorities.
  17. Ghaah! My eyes! The film's still new out, we haven't all seen it!
  18. Yeah, interesting. Something similar happened to the Irish Squad back in Korea/Japan. Guess that karma I mentioned is starting to manifest
  19. It's been an interesting, if strange, tournament so far. I'm kinda surprised that England aren't doing better. With every person in Ireland actively channeling their karma into hoping France do badly, England should be winning every game 10-0.
  20. True, but on the other hand, this isn't a throwaway flash-in-the-pan movie licence like Prince of Persia or Speed Racer, the Toy Story licence itself has proven profitability and durability. TLG might not need a movie out there in the public eye to shift units.
  21. It's probably better to write in all lower case than in all higher case, if there's a problem. Writing in all caps is the internet equivilent of shouting and it is very difficult to read. People are naturally more used to seeing lower case; I'm using both in this post but one far outnumbers the other. Funnily enough, I write in all capitals in real life. I write the letters that should be capitalised normally and the others slightly smaller. SO DUNJOHN'S HANDWRITING LOOKS LIKE THIS. But that's so far off topic it takes five minutes to load. Reading this thread is threatening to damage me. Like I said earlier, the minifigs are quite easy to get here, so logically I should stock up, but I literally have no money right now. Well, okay, not literally, I did find a one-cent coin on the seat of my car yesterday, but aside from that, I'm broke. I also don't want to see Lego as an investment, I started this hobby for fun, not profit. Nnggh! If I start to speculate there's no telling where it'll end. Maybe it's good that I'm broke right when I should be amassing little yellow packets. Water, water everywhere....
  22. TP didn't have that option, nope. Instead, they took the entire game world and flipped it left-to-right so that right-handed people would feel comfortable using the controls. They might be able to do something like that this time, though, since the game is designed with the Wii in mind. TP was designed for the Gamecube. Hadn't really thought about that.
  23. Thanks for the videos, I hadn't seen them yet. I note that Link is right-handed again - but the game is being demonstrated by a left-handed person I got a bit disoriented when he flicked his shield up. Must be really akward for you lefties in general. Yeah, it looks good, though I still can't see the Wind Waker influence that everybody is talking about. The bright, cheery graphics will take some getting used to after Twilight Princess. It's like he's been warped to the Mushroom Kingdom. I love that new bug launcher, that looks like fun, though I'd be nervous about stashing it wherever Link normally stashes his spare weapons. There wasn't a whole lot worth looking forward to at E3 this year but this is definitely something.
  24. Well, the Speed Racer sets weren't affected in the slightest by the movies performance, for me anyway.
