  1. Ranger shook his head at Thormanil. "You humans are always good for a chuckle. I suppose we shall refer to you as 'Thormana the Ample Breasted' for the rest of the quest?" Rogue and Ranger make their purchases from Dee Skyes. "An elf? Really? I never imagined you could get any uglier." "Shut up. Buying a mask isn’t necessary for our quest’s completion-” "Hey! 2. Wow, Zepher you suck. First you pass up the opportunity to give Sarick at least one level of experience for his canceled quest, now you're trying to take his sword away when others passed on it in the first place.
  3. Nur was extremely tired. He had sprinted after the Wolfganger, was assaulted from above by Metasimians which he'd barely defeated, then sprinted back to his comrades only to run to safety again. In between breaths he handed an Emerald Lamp of Summoning to Boomingham and the other to Haldor. "Here. I don't know if they work the same as the Aquamarine Lamp I had, but feel free to use my magnifying glass to read the tiny instructions." He looked to the rooftops to make sure the sky wasn't raining any more monkeys. "Are we giving up on finding Natnail and Ergthew and proceeding to the location?"
  4. Ranger jovially slapped Arasmyth on the back. "Well done, Arasmyth! Smart man. It was an excellent decision having an elf lead us. Did I mention elves taught me everything I know about killin'? Elves raised me in fact. Interesting story..." The duo walked off in the direction of Nahrees and the rest of the party followed. The heroes traveled for half an hour through the unnamed forest when the Maa'ri Ranger raised his right fisted hand, signalling the group to stop. "What have you found?" "Sign. She went down this path." "We must make a quick stop." The heroes followed the orcs off the main path to Nahrees down a dirt trail. After some time they spotted a dwarven man at a makeshift kiosk. His face is partially masked. Rogue hands each member of the party 100 gold. "Here is the promised quest reward. Use it to buy from her if you need to. Her wares shall aid us in our entry into Nahrees." "Eh, hem! I am clearly a man my dear woman!" "Dee, I know it's you. These people are friends. Group, meet my good friend Dee Skyes, Mistress of a Million Faces. Her and I have been friends for years yet not even I know her true form." "Well not so loud! I don't need you blabbin' my identity to all of Olegaia! What can I do ya for?" Trickster’s Mask of the... 5. For the Power Miner class you can incorporate pickaxes and shovels into its damage. The Power Miner could: * Have a trait that uses pickaxes to heavily damage rock monsters like in Quest 26 or * Mimic the Cannoneer class but use pickaxes and shovels to calculate damage somehow
  6. “Right. To business. Our comrades and family have been taken prisoner by a group calling themselves the Children of Akkaba. They're a religious bunch who preach about honor and justice yet they seem more interested in vengeance if you ask me. A lot of ‘em have pale skin. The paler the skin generally signifies a greater increase in power. The majority of its congregation are former followers of Ennoc who thought his teachings were too lax so they split to worship the younger god, Akkaba. His control of the Light is nowhere near the strength of Ennoc's but the taint in his heart allows him and his followers to also wield the power of darkness.” “These 'Children of Akkaba' have established a small city called Nahrees. This is where they've taken our friends. There is only one entrance, the Main Gate that I've marked here. Everyone must pass through it and stop for inspection. However, we discovered a way in through their sewer system, here. We watched it for two weeks and it was never guarded." "Our people are being kept in one of the four primary locations, The Prison Area, The War Quarter, The Mage Quarter, or The Apothecarium. It doesn't matter which location we check first. We must strike tonight as most of the populace will be elsewhere outside the city attending the wedding of their leader and his new bride. You need to decide if we will enter through the Sewers or the Main Gate. If you choose the Main Gate then there'd better be a smooth talker amongst the group with a good cover story." "Indeed. To get through that gate you'd probably have a 1/6 chance of your story working, maybe 2/6 with a silver tongue (diplomacy).” The cover of nightfall had landed. The party was soon to be on their way. “Discuss your choice and make a bold statement when you have decided which way we should enter the city. We will follow your lead. Let us know when you are ready to depart."
  7. "Good. Some of you have worked together before. Now that I know your names I shall give you ours. I am Rogue of the Maa'ri. My companions are Ranger and Hound. We-" The hooded orc noticed the expressions on the party members' faces. "One moment. It seems our guests are a tad confused by our naming conventions. Our group is composed of an elite fighting force sent on the hardest of missions by our tribe. Upon induction into the Maa'ri (a near impossible task) an individual has proven to be the best in their field so they are stripped of their name and are simply referred to by their profession. This custom has been in place since before I had joined the tribe. Normally, we serve as the strong arm of our warlord, Tre'bor. But we've recently embarked on a more personal task. The rescue of our family members. He snickered briefly then gave a sinister smile. I have no family of my own but the rogue-" "Enough! We had family members captured by our enemies. They proposed a ransom. We tried multiple rescue attempts. They all failed so we sought to make enough gold for the ransom by hiring ourselves out as mercenaries. In one job we were hired by that gnome inventor Szalinski and ran into fighters from your organization. Ranger here even took part in an archery contest to raise funds. How'd that turn out for you friend?" She matched his wry grin from before with one of her own. "That competition was rigged if you ask me. There is no way a one-eyed human with zero depth perception could have surpassed me in skill." "When we still could not acquire enough money, we tried another rescue mission. Many of us were captured only to find out our kin had been moved. You received our request for help written by our leader. He was captured soon after sending that note. He bought time for me and the hound to escape during a recon mission. Fortunately we were able to bring back valuable intel." She lowered her head and paused for a moment while the hound emitted a depressing howl.
  8. The rogue offered a wide smile before looking at the orc ranger. She spoke a little louder than was necessary. “Welcome Elf. Your magic will definitely be of great use to us during this quest.” Her companion remained quiet. His stare seemed to penetrate the rogue and focus on Arasmyth. The fire flickering in his eyes only added to the creepiness of his look. She nodded to each of the other members. “A bowman, a knight, a shaman, and a slug creature that -” Her sentence was briefly interrupted by Ad-Hoh’s display. ”-summons spirits. Quite the optimistic bunch. Good. We could use that infectious positive spirit.” The orc archer sighed as he looked at Knifk. “Don’t tell me I have to spend the entire quest with you speaking like that. It took me two years of instruction to get our leader to stop talking in the third person. To this day he still interchanges ‘us’ for ‘we’. However, at least you’re an orc. I feel better about our odds already.”
  9. ~This topic is meant only for the players who have been chosen to participate in this Quest. If you wish to join the game, head over to the Rules and Discussion topic to learn how to do so.~ A party of five followed the hound to Eubric Forest. The five were: Arasmyth RuGard (played by Kadabra) *Party Leader* Level 11.5 Mage Power: 16 Shield Power: 3 Health:15/15 Ether: 15/15 Gold: 0 Inventory: Sapphire Staff (WP:5, Wind elemental), Robe of the Elven Warlock (SP:3), Scroll of Sealing, Scroll of Blindness, Sapphire, Topaz, Aquamarine, Potions (2), Grand Tonic (2), Smoke Bomb, Water Bomb Ad-Hoh (played by ADHO15) *Resistant to Magic* Level 15 Evoker Power: 20 Shield Power: 0 Health: 22/22 Ether: 20/20 Gold: 490 Inventory: Rhabdomance Staff (WP:5), Robe of Spell Resistance(Damage from magic based & elemental attacks and specials is halved), Bedroll, Shovel, Ice Bomb, Lightning Bomb, Banana, 2 Ether Cores, Potion (x3), Rum (x2), Tonic (x3), Emerald (Wood), Amethyst (Darkness), Ruby (Fire), Topaz (Lightning), Sapphire (Wind) Borrowed from Elgar Elgar Gligin (played by Jedi master Brick) Level 13 Ranger Power: 23 Shield Power: 0 Health: 18/18 Gold: 62 (owes 50 gold to Haldor (Scorpiox) ) Inventory: Mockthril Crossbow (WP:10 Lightning elemental),Fauxthril Longbow (WP: 5),Smoke Bomb, Bedroll, Emerald,Sapphire Loaned to Ah-Hoh,Venom, Spade,Fire Bomb,Pickaxe,4 Potions,Phoenix Essence Knifk (played by Bioniclover) *Counter Striking* Level 15 Black Knight Power: 25 Shield Power: 9 Health: 33/33 Gold: 1 Inventory: Tfel (WP: 10 Longsword, Earth-elemental), Aegis (SP: 9 Shield), Counter Strike Gloves (Counter Striking - Immediately attack target in an amount equal to Power after receiving a free hit from target),Remedy, Floral Bomb, Wind Bomb,Bedroll, Shovel Thormanil Nihai (played by swils) *Immunity: Darkness* Level 18½ Shaman Power: 31 (+1) Shield Power: 3 Health: 34/34 Ether: 18/18 Gold: 17 Inventory: Wyvern's Tailblade (WP: 12), Bright Armor (SP: 3, Null Darkness), Thundering Totem (WP:7, lightning), Tongue on a Stick (WP:1, Miss -> "Aim"), Potion x2, Grand Tonic x2, Mead, Smelling Salts x3, Nostrum x2, Deadly Venom x2, Floral Bomb, Phoenix Essence, Pickaxe, Shovel They walked for hours until the surrounding trees were no longer recognizable. As dusk approached, they had reached the Maa'ri Orc camp. The Party was immediately approached by a female orc wearing a red bandana. "Our enemies have hidden themselves well. I don't know what they call these backwoods but you're no longer in Eubric Forest. Things have become even more dire. Come. Sit by the fire. We shall leave once the sun goes down a bit." The rogue frowned as she looked among the group. "Is this the best you could bring us? Rather weak from the looks of them. I doubt this lot has the stamina required to endure the battles ahead."The hound tilted his head to the side and stared at the orc. "Our brethren have been captured by a religious sect so we need to get into their base and find our friends. We’ve attained information that will greatly improve our chances of success. What is the rest of your party doing way back there, looking for firewood? I will explain the situation once your entire group has caught up Checked in ." The orc with the bow stoked the fire while the rogue took a seat. The hound milled about sniffing the ground. He stopped at a tree and lifted his leg. A small cloud of steam could be seen as his hot piss hit the chilled air. QM Note: You have around 24 hours to check in and ensure your stats are correct before we move along. Thank you for your cooperation. EDIT: Stats updated.
  10. Nur rushed back to his party, a little worse for wear. "Forgive my absence. Yesterday, I thought I overheard Ergthew say he was a sailor and had a friend coming to port sometime today. The time we spent arguing with the gang members was possibly giving Ergthew more time to escape, by ship perhaps." He shrugged. "The Wolfgang member was unable to assist us in our search for Ergthew and Natnail." Nur took a moment to fire an earth spell at Werewolf Thug (Axe) from the back row. "He did help me out when I was jumped by three from that one's gang." He pointed towards the Metasimian. "The only information he could provide was that Ergthew is a serious professional panhandler here in Eubric and we'll be hard pressed to find him. Not saying we should give up the search but it could prove too difficult to find him with his many criminal connections and hiding places. The Wolfgang Sneak did tell me to express his thanks to you all for healing him and lettin' him escape. He gave me these: 2x Emerald Lamp of Summoning He wanted you, Boomingham to have one for the gold you lost. I used the aquamarine one meself and it produced amazing results. Be advised that it's a one time use item." En Sabah Nur heard the approach of more Blood Paws. "I hadn't realized how far in Blood Paw territory we were. We may need to heed the apeman's warning and get out of here with a smoke bomb."
  11. A weary looking hound enters the Hall. He peers over the sign-up list and begins to bark. A random passerby with the Animal Talk ability kindly translates the dog’s message. Quest #35: Rescue the Maa’ri! - Arasmyth RuGard, Level 11 (Kadabra) * Party Leader * - Ad-Hoh, Level 15 Evoker (ADHO15) - Elgar Gligin, Level 13 Ranger (Jedi master Brick) - Knifk, Level 15 Black Knight (Bioniclover) - Thormanil Nihai, Level 18.5 Shaman (swils) <“Gather your stuff and meet me at the road heading towards Brobric Village within two days.”>
  12. As the debate drew the attention of the 'paws and the metasimian, Nur whispered to the Wolfganger once again as he helped the man to his feet. "Like I said before, run. I'm very fleet of foot. I'll catch up. When I do you will take me to Ergthew. If you don't, I'll find you and put rocks in your lungs." Nur stared at the man then gave a disarming grin to his companions before joining them. "Seems my friends wish to war with the Blood Paws. I don't understand how they have determined one organized group of hoodlums to be less deserving of our blade tips than another *sigh* but as they have each been around for more years than I, perhaps I should defer to their ancient wisdom."
  13. Then side with team C. @Quest 30: @darkdragon: Those claws are an amazing drop. I need some.
  14. "We're not going to get anything out of him if he bleeds to death in this damn alley! Nur knelt before before the Wolfganger and put his hand on the man's wound in an attempt to stop the bleeding. "Someone heal him a bit, will ya?" He leaned in quickly and whispered. "When you get the chance, run."
  15. The permanently slowed is very fitting. Also, since "The Juggernaut uses their armored appearance to strike fear into other's hearts" you could factor SP into their damage. For instance the SHIELD damage could be: (WP + LvL) x SP/2 rounded up. (WP: 10 + Level 30) x SP: 10 / 2 = 200 dmg The CRITICAL HIT damage could be: WP x SP / 2 + LvL rounded up. WP: 10 x SP: 10 / 2 + Level 30 = 80 dmg
  16. Guts was rude and disrespectful to a guy just doing his job. With that tough guy attitude problem Guts was bound to get his butt kicked. Flee.
  17. "Alright, let's all go to the harbor around the corner then. Thank you for the information Gurnam."
  18. Zealot * Additional Ether: +X * Weapons: Staves, wands, and daggers. * Job Traits: Multi-Target - Attacks hit all enemies. Bring ‘Em On! - Attacks get stronger as the number of enemies increase. Spellcasting - (see Mage). * Battle Style: Wide Arc - A Zealots’ power is wasted on a single enemy. Unable to attack physically. 1. SHIELD: Arcane Explosion - The zealot creates a magical explosion with a random element for damage equal to their power multiplied by the number of enemies at no ether loss. (e.g.(WP 25 + level 30) x 4 enemies = 220 damage). 2. GREAT SPELL: The zealot strikes for damage equal to their weapon power multiplied by the number of enemies added to their level at the cost of 1 ether. (e.g.WP 25 x 4 enemies + level 30 = 130 damage). 3. SPELL: The zealot attacks the target with strength equal to their weapon power added to their level at the cost of 1 ether. (e.g. WP 25 + level 30 = 55 damage). 4. FOCUS: The zealot attacks the target with strength equal to weapon power only at the cost of 1 ether. (e.g. WP 25 = 25 damage). 5. DAMAGE: The zealot is struck by their opponent’s damage. 6. SPECIAL DAMAGE: The zealot is struck by their opponent’s special skill. QM Note: Zealots do not target all enemies. Their attacks can not prevent free hits if the number of enemies outnumber the players in the party.
  19. Well it's hard to know what is doable with new creations until Sandy puts out the official class descriptions he's brewin' up. But as long as we keep applying pressure by suggesting similar classes, he'll be forced to put them out for display even sooner. I do like the fearless Battle Style. Could change it to a Job Trait (for this class or another), Fearless - Encouraged but unable to attack from the back row.
  20. Yeah, Harlot started out as joke but then I began thinking about the veteran Lady Luck (not that she was a harot, mind you ) and saw how the class might be viable. A change I'd throw in is making the Pleasure House abilities take effect for the next round only. Maybe substitute the hexed effect for stun, only because as a QM I wouldn't know how to handle multiple hexed enemies. I'm also disappointed that Harlot doesn't have a gold generating ability as I considered it sort of a Rogue-ish class. Perhaps her third Job Trait could be: Money Maker - The harlot dances provocatively. Each /roll has a 50/50 chance of target throwing gold at her in an amount based on enemy level. Weapons: Daggers, throwing, flexible (whips & chains) As for the faction...no clue heh. Maybe it could be related to the spying section of the Wolfgang or someone can create a new faction. What do you guys think? My Thoughts on the Engineer Class: Don't give up yet! Seems like an acceptable solution is close. Perhaps wait until Necromancer is introduced (assuming it is pet class of course) to see if it sparks ideas on how to better present this class.
  21. Good job. Next you'll be working on a Heroica RPG wiki.
  22. Nur giggled at his friend and nodded. "Might ye know where we can find him, Mr. Gurnam? If he's in the import/export business, he could have come across Devaga before."
  23. Nur snickered. "Know a guy named Natnail?"
  24. Wow. You guys really bastardized the Engineer class. Work on this one! Harlot * Additional Health: +X * Job Trait(s): Promiscuous - Harlots have their own form of Diplomacy. Flee (See Rogue) * Battle Style: Seduction - Harlots prefer to play mind games with their opponents. Partial to whips & chains (Thothwick/Dyric ) 1. SHIELD: Pleasure House - The Harlot works her magic. All enemies receive a random negative effect from the list below. 2. KISS AND MAKE UP: The Harlot attacks the target with strength equal to two times her weapon power added to her level. Additionally, target is enamored with her for the next round. 3. HIT: The Harlot attacks the target with strength equal to her weapon power added to her level. 4. IT FEELS SO GOOD: The Harlot does her job so well the target’s mind goes numb. Enemy’s level is lowered by WP/2 rounded down. 5. MASOCHISM: The Harlot is struck by her opponent’s damage but revels in the pain so is encouraged for the next round. 6. SPECIAL DAMAGE: The Harlot is struck by its opponent’s special skill. QM Note: Pleasure House Negative effects: * Poisoned - Don’t worry, it’ll clear up soon. * Badly Poisoned - Better have a cleric look at that. * Hexed - I’ll do whatever you say. * Sealed - Shh, I won't tell your wife. * Fast Asleep - Another satisfied customer. * Weakened - I’m exhausted.
  25. Sorry if I missed it but what's the reason behind Flare/Benji's text color change to purple?
