Heroica RPG - Quest #28: The Breakthrough
Jebediahs replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in The Heroica Archive
Nur's nostrils flared at the singed fur. He spoke slower to compensate for the hastening effect. "Nice strike old man." The mage grinned a shaky smile. He was thankful the veteran warrior had gone so easy on him in the arena. "I will attack Enchanted Bear Skin Rug from the back row with earth spells!" -

Nur doesn't hear Boomingham's words. OoC: With two swallowed, Nur would immediately seek to silence the enemy. After experiencing Boomingham's prowess with the shield, he's reluctant to trust it. If we'd wanted "optimal" Nur wouldn't be the only one using consumables this quest. My action is in. Next Round! -

OoC: LOL Om nom nom! While Haldor and Jess kept the beast distracted, Nur retreated to a section of the room that was removed from the chaos. He pulled out his Scroll of Sealing and hoped he pronounced the words clearly enough for it to take effect on the Enchanted Bear Skin Rug. OoC: I'm only trying it for one round so if it doesn't work then it's game on with the om nom nom! I'd also like to attack from the back with a spell if first sealing somehow hits if that is allowed. -

OoC: LOL oops Nur spots an opening and removes Docken from the rug's Maw. He drags the party leader to safety before uncorking a Phoenix essence. The fumes cause the warden to stir as Nur forces the life giving elixir down the unconscious hero throat. OoC: No worries Haldor, I have three. With your barbarianism I think you do more dmg than me anyway. Need an order of actions, bossy man. -
How many journals are you going to put into the game, Flipz? There are enough already unless you're trying to take over the game with your own A-mail system.

En Sabah Nur hops away from the lamp and consumes a vial of Smelling Salts. He pelts the Enchanted Bear Skin Rug from the back row with an earth spell. -

OoC:If the desk and the items atop it aren't strewn all over the place... Nur opens the blue vial with the saucer black lid. -
Just about everything he does is in poor taste. Still don't know why he gets selected for quests.

Nur chuckles. "Feel free to try your luck with the door but I don't think our decorative friend up their would like it too much. My proposed answer to your riddle would be an arrow in flight." OoC: Fell asleep at the screen last night before I could send in my guesses for the second riddle(which were wrong). -

"I wish to visit Swisshopper. My cloak is a bit tattered." Nur looked up from his cape at his staring companions. " Did I say that aloud? *cough*I'd prefer to stay away from the Academy for as long as possible in favor of visiting the Blue Hood." -

The excessive heat made it hard for Nur to concentrate. He'd have to ask Haldor about that battle relaxation technique he uses. His elf was handling herself nicely though. In his limited experience with the race, elves always performed well in combat. Except for that time on the island when one shot him in the back... The machine was engulfed in flame but Nur made a final attempt at defeating the fire by casting two earth spells at the Flaming Storage Tanks from the back row. -

OoC: This is what I was waiting for. Nur winced as the fire raged. "Those who have weapons imbued with the fiery element will want to focus their attentions on the repositories. Everyone else can follow your plan to dismantle the tanks with haste." Not wanting to take any chances losing this marvel of technology, Nur consumed a vial of Smelling Salts. The world around him appeared to slow. The flames' dance became sluggish and his comrades' movements reduced to a crawl as the sorcerer sped up. "Ihopeyou'reabletoremovethesandfromyourmachine,Szalinski." En Sabah Nur manipulated the soil he summoned and combined it with the surrounding dust. He directed his earth spell at the Flaming Storage Tanks from the back row hoping to smother the fire. -

En Sabah Nur took a step back. He waited in anticipation hoping the lightning wouldn't arc towards the spear. Hm, better him than me. -

Nur hid his grin as flames danced about the machine. Gnomes...Interesting idea though. With a bit of tinkering done to the machine, prepared meals could be delivered to your home hot and ready to eat. Now there's a business idea. Could call it Quick Eats. "It is quite difficult for me to conjure the amount of minerals necessary to create enough sand for this situation. S'much easier for me to move existing material than to create or manipulate and convert one soil type into another..." Nur surveyed the scene. "...but perhaps there is enough dust here to produce the desired effect. Be advised that I can't guarantee the removal of every bit of it from the machine." En Sabah Nur stood by for the go ahead. OoC: Stats look fine. -
I believe he explained in the battle description that the dragon is so massive that poisoning different points on the wyrm allow poisons of the same type to stack.

@Quest 25: I hope there's a battle for the title of party leader. Was my guess too.
-
@That_Guy: Nice to see a Light user that isn't holy/ennoc-centric. I hope so. That is why I had signed up for the quest. While others were turned off by the small reward offered, I knew there was more to the quest since it was asking for level 10+ players. And an interesting battle has presented itself.

LOL Very funny and nice to look at. It's ok as it looks like a comic to me. :)

I don't know why anyone is worried. The party has almost every consumable in game available to them. Drink meads and stay in the back row. Apply venoms and deadly venoms to help with the damage. Hybros can play healer with all those potions. The team can flee or use a smoke bomb if necessary. If everyone is in dire straights, all can sit in the back, consume a potion and the orc can take a little bit of damage from a free hit. You also have the bard. It's a dragon. The fight's not supposed to be easy but it's nowhere near impossible.

I like the sleeping ogre guard from Quest 14. He worked hard to perfect his open-eyed sleeping technique.

Nur's eyes darted from hero to hero. Haldor had gone down. Maurice was making his way over. The scene was overwhelming. Nur faded backwards into the crowd of onlookers...totally useless. "This is madness." He eventually made it down the stairs and signed up for Quest Title #28: The Breakthrough.

Hm, I don't know now 'cuz when I QM'd I was (perhaps mistakenly) doubling all damage from the Encouraged effect but the wording for Mead makes it seem like only your Power or /roll of 3 is doubled.
-
"Hm, pray tell me Rone, what is it you are a trainer of? I might have use of such services." Nur could only shake his head and grin at Alexis's display of power. He continued to struggle with evoking but it seemed a trivial form of magic for the elf.
