  1. You have a point. But again, there's a cause behind all of it, they're not doing it out of spite or just to cause havoc.
  2. Maybe we haven't seen much of them helping the Hovels, but when have we seen them doing any of that stuff? Maybe they're not exactly model citizens, but they're not maniacs.
  3. What makes the Wolfgang any different, other than they want to help the general population in the process of sabotaging the other houses?
  4. The Houses, with a pretty blatant disregard for the common people who got tied up in them, where as far as I know the Wolfgang hasn't killed or been behind the death of a single person that wasn't already willing to die for the Wolfgang cause. (Except for Baba killing the Moon Elf.)
  5. In Quest 2 the Hinckwells hired the heroes the break into a Shadeuax warehouse, and in Quest 58 Reno nearly took over the Bonapartes by having his brother kidnapped...also for the Bonapartes, there's Quest 51. Even the Town Watch in Quest 33 is corrupt.
  6. Except for the Hinckwells (Quest 2), the Shadeuax (Quest 4), and the Bonapartes (Quest 58).
  7. Who'd Ulric kill/ruin other than his devoted followers? Like I said, Baba's totally evil, but I don't think she's part of Ulric's plan.
  8. I don't think they're going to or even meant to stack up against all six other houses in terms of support, but the way the main storyline seems to be set up....you're either supporting one of the six houses or the Wolfgang. It doesn't look like Ulric is bothered too much about Baba, so once she's out of the picture, they're not such an evil faction. They're the only ones with a sense of trying to help out the common people. Once their support among the poor of Eubric becomes more obvious in-Quest, I don't think heroes are going to be as enthusiastic about destroying them. I think it'll just take time for it to become clear how much the Wolfgang is actually a viable choice to side with. They're a widespread band of thugs right now, but as Quest 66 made clear, that's changing.
  9. Round Three of Black and Blue Dreyrugr vs. Blue Assassin (Muckraker) - Shield: Arrogant Prick (78 damage, Spinning Bolas and 100 gold stolen, no deflect) Pretzel vs. Blue Assassin (Cross of Light) - Shield: Guardian Angel ((No damage or effects for the next round) >Sylph uses Tonic Erik vs. Blue Assassin (Twin Axe) - Hit (20 x 2 = 40 damage, no deflect) The party makes good progress even without their elven ranger. Erik and Sylph tag-team the Blue Assassin, though he's trying his best to avoid their blades. Pretzel summons his nude guardian angel as Sylph swallows a tonic. The Blue Assassin, however, notices his disadvantage. Pretzel sees his chance, clapping his shackles onto the assassin's wrist, but it doesn't stop him from sprinting up the nearest wall, and twisting mid-jump to land on the platform just above the heroes. It's clear he's looking for an exit. The heroes will have to act quickly. Cat and Mouse - The Blue Assassin is attempting to escape. The heroes have five ten rounds to reach and engage him. The timer will reset after the next engagement ends. - Rounds are run normally, but heroes have more freedom over their actions, such as examining or moving objects in the environment. - The heroes may attack the Blue Assassin with ranged weapons only at all times, but it will not count as an engagement. - If the Blue Assassin is not targeted, he will still deal free hits. He can be targeted with melee weapons, but nothing will happen. Any questions/clarifications? Enemies Blue Assassin Prodigy *Ten rounds until escape* Level 40 Dark Humanoid Health: 809/994 Special I: Bolas to the Feet – Blue Assassin Prodigy tosses throwing bolas, entangling the hero, dealing the Bound and Slowed effects for the duration of the battle until remedied. Special II: Bladestorm – Blue Assassin Prodigy rains the party with throwing knives, doing 20 damage, ignoring row to each of them. Can only be used once per engagement. Special III: Shroud – Blue Assassin Prodigy becomes invisible, making them unable to be targeted for the duration of the round. At the beginning of the next round, they will pull the hero that rolled Special Damage into the darkness, causing them to be Blinded for the next 3 rounds and Stunned. Blue Assassin Prodigy will attempt to flee immediately after doing so. 10. Completely. I'm not sold on this class's Shield, but I think the concept is good. I'm also convinced this is the coolest Damage roll ever. NINJA These stealthy assassins use any means at their disposal to rid of enemies without attracting attention. · Additional Health: +5 · Weapons: Ninjas uses swift, silent weapons such as daggers, longswords, throwing weapons, bows, staves, and spears. · Job Traits: Flee: (See Rogue), Stealth: (See Thief), Agility - Ninjas are notably acrobatic, and can use this to their advantage outside of battle. · Battle Style: Silent – Ninjas uses poisons to take out their enemies as quietly as possible and to avoid taking damage. 1. SHIELD: Paid Assassin – The ninja stabs the target in the back with strength equal to six times their weapon power added to their level, ignoring defense. If the ninja defeats the target next round they will receive 100 gold. Each additional round it takes for the ninja to defeat the target reduces the reward by 10 gold, and can expire. ((WP: 15 x 6) + level 30 = 120 damage ignoring defense). 2. BADLY POISONED CRITICAL HIT: The ninja attacks the target with a badly poisoned weapon with strength equal to twice their weapon power added to their level. ((WP: 15 x 2) + level 30 = 60 damage with badly poisoned-effect) 3. BADLY POISONED HIT: The ninja attacks the target with a badly poisoned weapon with strength equal to their weapon power added to their level. (WP: 15 + 30 = 45 damage with badly-poisoned effect) 4. BADLY POISONED AIM: The ninja attacks the target with a badly poisoned weapon with strength equal to their weapon power only. (WP: 15 = 15 damage with badly-poisoned effect) 5. INTO THE SHADOWS: The ninja is struck by the opponent’s attack, then retreats into the shadows, recovering three health per turn and avoiding any action that might come their way while doing so. The ninja may choose to leave the shadows at any time, but will automatically do so after full health is restored. 6. SPECIAL DAMAGE: The ninja is struck by the opponent’s special skill.
  11. I'm excited to see Arasmyth back, and welcome to Heroica, PPJB. As far as the moral stuff goes, I don't feel Sandy outlines it as obviously as contemporary RPGs do. If people saw the Wolfgang as outright evil, there wouldn't be more heroes with good reputation with the Wolfgang than with the Ji Pei right now. I think there are a lot of factors to take in. That's where I suspect the main storyline is going.
  12. Then why the hell does everyone keep siding with them?! Atramor's always been the kind of person to support a rebellion, but he's learned a lot from Dastan. This is more sensible option to him right now, it fits into his near-future roleplaying, and, well....I want that Galactic Armor.

    Everyday Life

That's very cool. I like how everything still manages to be visible despite almost every object being one of four shades.
  14. I doubt Monster Fighters was designed as a theme for Halloween. Polybags and such is probably as good as it'll get.
  15. No, it doesn't ignore defense.
  16. Atramor rubbed his chin for a moment. "Don't like the idea of ya'll killin' your way to 'freedom' and assumin' anyone who's not an aoi would make better leaders than the Council. I've seen countries like this face rebellion before, and the aoi aren't the source of the problem, believe me. Maybe things are messed up in Xu. But the worst I've seen come from a group of 108 rebels destroyin' an entire order to prove a point. I'm all for finsihin' this. Fate doesn't fix things."
  17. The Death Progg, the Eye of Sauron....is this Quest just a gallery of miniature superbosses?
  18. Slowed takes effect two rounds after it's inflicted anyway. Round Two of Black and Blue >Sylph heals Nessa (Shrapnel Bow) - Shield: Roots of Life (34 health restored to everyone, all negative effects removed, -1 ether) >Nessa vs. Blue Assassin (Silver Crossbow) - Damage (40/2 - 3 = 17 damage) >Pretzel equips Shackles of War Dreyrugr vs. Blue Assassin (Muckraker) - Critical Mortal Hit (44 damage, no deflect) >Erik vs. Blue Assassin (Twin Axe) - Special Damage: Bladestorm (20 damage to everyone, Nessa KO'd) Sylph summons a thin mat of plants through the cracks in the stone floor to heal the party, but it's not enough. Nessa's wound is reopened within a second from the swift assassin, and Dreyrugr deals a powerful blow to the dark figure even as he twists out of the way of the party, flinging nearly half a dozen shining knives from his belt fluidly. Nessa crumples to the floor, one of the daggers buried deep in her side. 19. Atramor crossed his arms and nodded at Tarn's words. He couldn't help but be surprised at his own opinion. In older times he probably would've sided with the Stars since, well....rebellion was a pretty common thing with rogues and those like him. The law never seemed to do anyone any good. But Dastan had changed his mind on that....as had Eubric, to a point. The Ji Pei didn't seem to be imposing on anyone. "Maybe your intentions are decent enough, but followers at the bottom of the ladder might not be as devoted to the cause as you are. At the head of things, ya' might be the righteous leader you're aimin' for. The idiots carryin' out your orders more likely than not have a less than noble goal, seein' as how they seemed perfectly happy to massacre everyone at the Pagoda."
  20. I had an idea for something less extreme, like a WP reduction. Permanent reduction of a level is a little too much.
  21. "Aye? And what happens when ya' succeed, and there's no law left? Do ya' take over and start dealin' out whatever you think is justice?"
