well, i think it's human behavior to spot patterns where there is none. even with a true random selection, a human can make brash conclusions by selectively ignoring failures and overemphasize successes. so in the end, he/she spots patterns where there is none. it's the classic gambler's syndrome. umm, prelude may have been a little harsh, but i was highlighting the point that while 10,000 maybe slightly larger than 1,000 it's still a small number compared to 60million lego "fans" out there. even if most of them are in europe, and the promo is only available to US fans...and assuming only US fans bought the sets (ie no eur tourists buying US sets), we still have 10,000 to spread over 10m fans. i don't know how you can draw conclusion that there is enough for everyone...

wow...this is certainly news to me. if the sales are anything to go by, i would have guessed castle being the more popular theme. ultimately i think tlc thinks with its wallet than with kiddies' response. so :-P meh. castle will still outlast MM judging by sales result... :-P

i dont know which planet you came from but 10,000 is still a small number in a world with 6 billion people. if only 0.01% of people are lego fans that's still a lot of "fans"

well, the visor i really love. it's metallic silver just like the new fireman's hat. it's the helmet and the armor i have issues with. the glow from the alien is very weak. it's not of the same material as scarecrow's head. i can take pictures if you want. i didn't know until i saw the gitd claim on the box. they are available from tru. big rip off, 7009 was selling for $9.99 and the astro mx-11 was $7.99. $2 overpriced... most of the new sets were overpriced, except for EF :-P

well, bringing this thread back to topic.... i bought 7009 yesterday. i'm not too happy with the new armor tbh. the helmet, armor are in pearl grey, which to me just appear cheap. the broad sword and lance also look cheap. it's made of the same material as the flail. i also notice the dark blue barding for the horse has inconsistent color. it's like it was painted over. seems like quality is bad for this line. i think i will stay away for a few month or so until they sorted out the palate/quality. i also bought the small mars mission set. the alien is like a blob. definitely a junk piece. the glow-in-the-dark element is also very weak. the leg doesn't glow either. beware! the mf head is of a diff print from the art box. the golden visor is good. the sole reason for buying the set. pity they don't give a spare unlike previous sets. on the plus side, i got aero booster and that thing is georgeous! hayato is definitely the spoilt kid for EF2007. golden guardian is an absolute beauty, and aero booster is a close cousin.

i can read some japanese so i'll help translate. this can be purchased for 15,750 yen (approx $110). it's called the lego city airport ana version. it has a limited model seal (sticker) that you can apply to your airplane. you're right, there're only 1000 sets. the set has 700 blocks and comes with a set of customized stickers you can used on your normal minifigs. it says it will take an adult about 180 mins to build and the set is for age 5 and up. there is also the lego airplane ana version which was already sold out. it was also a limited edition with only 1000 sets, sold at 9800 yen (about $70). also came with the special stickers. it's a big rip off if you ask me. the airplane sells for $40 at ls@h. don't think stickers cost $30... :-P i suppose there are always crazy lego fans out there willing to pay for it though. *sing*

Well, not exactly topic related but there was an article in newsweek earlier this month on lego. It's quite informative as to how they view their market. The european market they think is matured as they have saturated the market with their products (about 13% of toys sold each year is a lego). The US is only about 3-5%. So they feel the us market is still able to absorb a lot more lego. This may be why the prices in the us is cheaper than the EU. Most likely they feel the EU market is matured so it's time to start milking the cash cow. While the us market is still in growth stage so it would be best to price more competitively to build market share. :-P Anyway, sucks to be EU. ;-)

well, my to get list is: - all star wars incl ucs mf - all ef except for the stupid robot bike and stupid golden tower - all new castle - 2 new batman - corner cafe - house creator set - new fire station - a few new space set like the pelican dropship and mini human flyer and maybe the human robot. can't think of any other must-have at the moment. but definitely very expensive year indeed.

I dont think we will be seeing pirates for a while. If you hadn't notice, the themes are centered around non-human conflicts and the humans are the good guys. Eg, EF - humans vs robots, Castle - humans vs skeletons, AR - humans vs sea monsters, vikings - humans vs dragons, MM - humans vs aliens. A pirate theme would be centered around the humans as the bad guys. Definitely no no. Can you imagine the chaos surrounding the parental complaints over their kids play-imagine themselves as pirates. :-P if they cast the imperial navy (french or english) then still they have to cast the pirates as non-human to avoid human-human conflicts. So maybe having a skeleton pirate crew is not out of the question. But gone are the days of captain blackbeard and his crew of one-eyed, one-armed, one-legged bandits. I don

I like how they modularized the series. The 6 set corner block they showed on the box is very impressive.
