Well, I hope lego is comfortable enough to make villian sets separately from hero sets, like in SW. If they went the route of batman where every set is a pair of bat-vehicle and villian vehicle, then it'll be terrible. Combo hero-villian sets limit the possibility because you have to dedicate half of the bricks to each side. Better to just focus on one.

dunamis - would you mind posting the dates for the SW sales? I know it runs throughout oct, but what are the specifics? Eg, tie advanced from which date to which date? Etc. The nearest lego store is about 30mins drive away so I'm reluctant to drive there just to pick up the calendar.

Umm, you must be of this generation. A century ago, most women weren't even working. The only working women are widows or from extremely poor family. If you want to be as close to medieval times, then yes, women don't fight. They sit around and wait to be rescued by daring men. :-P although in fantasy medieval, we do have warrior women, like those you see in the conan films. :-P

I don't know why the fuss unless you are a collector of rare lego parts. It's of decent quality. Good enough to fool most. What difference is it then, compared to custom parts from brickforge or crafted on your own with your hobby knife? If it was me, I would have no qualms adding those trees to my lego house. :-P they look so much like the real thing. :-P

Well, the ship itself was quite elaborate and sturdy. It looked small but if you look at the details, it can actually fit 4 troopers inside and a pilot too. While it has the illusion of being smaller than the ILC, I think interior-wise it's probably on par? Parts count would have been high 300 to low 400. plus 4 stormtrooper and 1 pilot? $50 is probably right, no? :-D

walmart sales: jan 2007 sets now on sale at walmart in the tri-state area. imperial landing craft for $40. spongebob - krusty krab for $11. y-wing - $25 huge ymmv since most are probably sold out. i bought out all the sets from around my area. :-P the spongebob was a great steal since you get 3 figure for that price...same as the magnet set but they aren't glued. :-P sears essentials: batman - batmobile $19 king jayko - $13

well, i hope he post instructions to the moc. it's incredible. but unfortunately for an official set it will cost close to $50-$60...so definitely no way will come as a $10-$13 set. it's definitely something i like to make and add to my sw collection though!

Well, my thoughts were that the skeleton armor could do without the ribcage. That is an eyesore. If they wanted to make a death knight armor, they could use some ideas from warcraft 3: frozen throne. The insignia on Arthas's armor as the lich king is almost perfect yet cartoonish enough to be a lego creation. :-P skulls on the pauldron along with a proper breast plate. Much better than the current design: a skull in the middle and ribcage. I mean, even the royal king's castle 10176 prints are much better than the ribcage. Or alternatively they could have used the prints from avatar and maybe add a small skull to the left or right chest area. Kinda like the crown faction's mf prints (on the belt or slung across the torso). That would have been ideal without needing much change to the design. I have no doubt they will focus their energy on making the best prints for the good guys faction. I just hope they come up with better prints for the "orcs" and trolls. The skeleton armor looks like crap though. Though I kinda like the crown faction, the skull faction can use some upgrades. Only one type of helmet? Not even different colors? One measely armor with bad print? And while little kiddies love knights in armor, having an entire army of knights in armor is just monotonous and bland. There should only be a few spec'ed out knights. Lots of brigands (vagabonds in leather or studded leather), lots of evil bandits for the knights to fight. Skeletons are nice but as many have said, the arms are too long and too straight and not as articulate as a mf's arms. I hope they really expanded the universe for this theme in 2008 to include other factions. Goblins or orcs are fine, but also need some rogue humans too. Those wolfmen are ideal. Hope those test kids like them. Our future is in their hands! Choose wisely! ARGH!!!

Barnyard animals, not my cupa tea. If they made wild animals like wolves or tigers I would be interested. :-P. gotta expand my viking armies to include the wolf raiders. :-P and the big cats would work well with a hunter class/adventurer.

I'm thinking more like a tiger or a wolf should be the next creation. I'm not digging these domestic farmland animals. How can I expect to expand my medieval army without tigers or wolves to ride on? :-P

First of all, no one who posted really get the dry humor. Let me highlight it in bold for those without a funny bone. Secondly, the announcement amounts to false advertising namely on 2 purported "facts": 1. the sets are exclusive and not available anywhere else. 2. retail value ranging from $5.99 to $6.99. Shall I point out why these two are false? The two racer sets are readily available from any retail toy shops including target, walmart and tru. And they retail for $4.99. So yeah, it a waste of $39.99 for crappy sets. I wouldn't recommend anyone to subscribe at this stage. So much for "exclusive SW or Indy sets"!!! Hehe :-P IMO, they could have easily made this a blockbuster subscription without resorting to "LIES". All they gotta do is package small tiny sets like those EF mini bags given with the Donald Duck mags in Europe. Those aren't sold anywhere and can be legitly called "exclusive" yet aren't exactly "have-to-haves". They won't pissed off die hard europe fans who can't subscribe, and they won't pissed off die hard US fans who fell for their false ad claims. On the plus side, the july edition has instructions for a rather neat MM tank made from the combo of 2 MM sets. With that I end my rant. :-P

It's only as big as your house if your house is 5km diagonally. So unless you own the pentagon, I kinda doubt your "house" will be able to fit a MF DS. :-P Remember that the DS is a mini sun. even if shrinking down to MF scale, it is still quite large. you haven't subscribed before right? it's july, sep, nov, etc. every two months beginning july. and it is one year only. where did you get the two year figure from? i have included the link to the initial discussion. if you just want the summary, basically it promised exclusive, not found in retail store, sets from various themes/lines, including SW, batman, indy, etc. anyone else has any luck with their set?

Hello, So i subscribed to the brickmaster magazine in the hope of landing some exclusive sets according to rumors that it may contain exclusive sets from SW, Indy, batman, etc. and to do review of what i receive for the benefit of forum members. *y* so far july's set was a crappy small racer set. it's not even $5 in value, which was what they promised and advertised on S@H. so yeah, i'm extremely pissed off. if this goes on for the 5 other sets that's $39.99 flushed down the toilet. not only that, but i got short changed as i got only one $5 off coupon instead of the 2 that was advertised. not impressed at all. anyway, i don't think anyone wants me to review that set right? it's 8131.
