Unrest in the Forest, Day 2: Fly By Night
jluck replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Ok, you said this... I added the bold part for one simple point. You are suspicious of lots of people...like lots... Ok, a few things to take from above. First, some of these posts were more light-hearted and not full out accusations. If you want full context, go back to the timestamps. Don't take them out of context. Secondly, I only went through the first 5(?) pages to compile this list. I wasn't picking and choosing my quotes, I just got tired of skimming Simon's 72(!) posts. Third, this is not a post to state I think Simon is scum, I just wanted Simon to understand that if he accuses constantly, he's going to throw some people off of true scum suspects. What I'm getting at is this, all these accusations make it hard to focus on what's good analyst and what's just goofy banter. Clearly, you have a strong playing style and it makes the game quite fun, I just wanted to make this note. Hope I don't come acrossed as critical. -

There's some stuff you've said here that I want to follow up on, but I need to reread some stuff first so it may be tomorrow before I can. The title however, that needs to be commented on now! What a special accomplishment (I wish I'd thought of it first...stupid, stupid me!) -

I feel that calling out quiet players never really goes anywhere but i just looked at the post count and, seriously?! Vickie and Maggie have both only posted once! This on the heals of a day when they were both tied for the lowest post count with 4 posts on day 1. Being unengaged may not make you scum, but it really hurts the town by losing your input and distracting us from other suspects. Were over 24 hours in folks... -

Ok, so maybe laughing at you might be a little far. Still, this has been my lynch since day 1 and I'll be darned if I don't see it through. vote: Catarina dogwood (adventurer1) Not because she types in low light, but because she's only been suspicious of those who suspect her and because she just seems really scummy...like sticky with maple scummy. -

Poor Catarina, every time she throws suspicion on others, it ends up coming right back at her. Reminds me of what my momma always said, "when you point the finger at others, you always have 3 pointing back at yourself" (try it, you'll see what I mean ) At this point, I have 2 candidates to offer: 1) Catarina, for all the reasons I said yesterday 2) Bobby Beach, for contributing nothing, saying little, and looking pretty scum the whole time. -

This is pretty compelling... What bothers me the most is that he hasn't presented any real opinion. He defends himself somewhat, but mostly rambles. Constantly stating he has nothing to add doesn't make him seem like a useful oak either. -

From private conversations I've gathered that he was caught off guard with the miller role and wasn't familiar with how to best handle it. He wanted to get advice before doing something that would hurt his reputation. -

Pardón?? I've been the leading advocate for withholding the info at the stump's discretion. But you're naive to believe this game isn't different from games past. We don't know the allegiance of the lynch. That's different. To counteract that, the host has allowed dead players to continue on. That different. This game is different and I bet you the scum are using those differences to their advantage. We need to figure out how to use these differences to our advantage as well. -

It's true we didn't have that info in past games, but now it's available to us so the situation has changed. A comparison might be to say "why do we need the Internet? We never had it when I was a kid." The fact that it wasn't there before doesn't negate it's usefulness now. All I'm saying is this is a new game and we should approach it as such. At this point I say we let each stump decide for themselves and move on to a new topic. We've talked this one into the ground. -

Good find, I think this confirms the stumps will disappear. If the stumps feel they have info relavent enough to share, they should share at their own discretion. -

Ok, rational me back after the tangent. If we're playing probabilities, what should the stumps do? Claim or stay quiet? Now that I've entertained the chance of losing them tomorrow, I don't want to lose any valuable info. On the other hand, I do believe there is a sizable risk in telling the maples what roles are gone. The perfect scenerio is that no role players were lost, which has very little risk in its being revealed. Then tomorrow we will see if the stumps are still around. Then we would know more about what hand were playing with. -

I hope no one got the impression I was advocating we claim to the stumps. I stated that if anyone claimed to us, we could mention it on the board and the stumps could refute the claim there. PMing the stumps puts them in a very awkward spot, especially if you give them info they shouldn't know. -

^^^this. I've made a mistake in my assumptions, I didn't give thought to this scenario. You're right, I'm man enough to admit when I get tunnel vision. -

Let's play a quick scenerio or two out. Scum hear that the investigator is dead, they now know the only way they can be "revealed" is via their death. That gives them much more freedom with contacting people, with little fear of being found out. Scum hear the blocker is dead. They can now target bigger townie players, without fear of wasting an attack. The scum hear the vig is dead, they now know exactly who will die at night and can distance themselves from scum before they turn up scum. Scenerios mean advantage: scum. I've answered your questions so please humor me and answer one of mine. Give me a time when it would be a greater advantage for the stumps to reveal their roles on the board (keeping in mind that I've already pointed out the stumps could wait for a claim and catch scum red handed)? -

You know what? I'm not gonna back down too you on this one, because I honestly think it really is that easy. In fact, I'll proclaim it right now: Here ye, here ye. If you are approached in private by someone claiming a role, let it be known to the stumps if you want to confirm the role isn't one of a dead scum. Proceed at your own discretion Look, if someone claims to you, you don't have to post it right away, but just keep in mind that you can if you want further confirmation. And let's not lose sight of what this is really about. In the end, I'd much rather stumps use their knowledge of their own roles to catch scum as opposed to blurting "I was the investigator" which all will agree benefits the maples. And I meant "dead stumps" not "dead scum" -

You're making this way to complicated. Say the scum come to you saying "I'm the vig". All you have to do is post "someone claimed vig to me". If it's a lie, and the vig is actually a stump, then the stump can simply say "that's a lie because i was the vig". Bingo, scum caught, day saved...so easy. You're kinda clouding this situation by suggesting stumps should claim. -

Bruce, I think we already discussed why this isn't a fair question. Would you ask this if they were alive? And honestly, why do you want to know? If you're oak, why does this matter other than to satisfy curiosity? However, if you're maple...this question is very, VERY important to you. -

Forgive my ignorance but what's being janitored entail? Is there more than just taking away the player so no one knows who they were aligned with? I've not played with one yet. Umm...no. If it's a PM then you catch the scum in lies, hide what roles still exist...literally all the advantages are in keeping it private. -

If they can talk, wouldn't be wise for them to message the first confirmed townie with their roles? This would prevent the scum from claiming roles that belonged to dead players. That could really be effective! -

Really interesting plot twist. So one tree is just gone right? There's no way of knowing his allegiance? Also, the other dead can talk but now don't have roles? Are they allowed to communicate in private too? -

The over eating is just the manner in which we celebrate, the super bowl is a time for families to gather around the TV and watch the commercials. And if anyone was watching, there was one lego reference in a commercial tonight. -

Good idea, it's always a pain to try to put a quote together from past days.
