  1. Congradulations to all of the winners. There were a lot of great MOCs and these were some of the best! Thank you to the staff for holding such a great contest! I really like to see all of these awsome MOCs being built and displayed.
  2. I'm back from vacation and my Bricklink order came in so... Although the sails and rigging are a pain to build, this has to be the most rewarding part of the entire build since my ship is starting to look like a real sailing ship. Horry: Thank you for the information on the ensigns. I think that I will use the white one. Captain Becker: Don't worry the catheads are off. As for a capstan, I felt like that took up too much room so I got rid of it.
  3. 1)Fat Tony Where's the rest of the crew? 1 point. I love the cages, cliff, bridge, and you did a great job with photoshop. Overall, a great MOC! 2)Sebeus Iniwum Hello Beastie 1 point. The picture with Jack starring down the kraken sold this MOC for me. The Black Pearl with the crew preparing for battle is also really well done! 3)Matn Tia Dalma's Shack 2 points. Outstanding detail on everything especially the vegetation and interior of the shack. Tia Dalma looks great and this is why I gave you a second point! 4)hammelgeier Attack of the Kraken 1 point. What's not to like, you did a fantastic job with the Kraken and the ship breaking up. The brick sails also looks really good! Overall, great entries everyone! I wish that I had more points to give to some of you!
  4. I like the way that you made the water look dirty with green, yellow and white bricks. I also like the building its self. It looks very oriental and I like the choice of bricks used to achieve this look. The soldiers on patrol around the town are also a nice addition. I think that you should improve it by adding some more people or building surrounding the bathhouse. In the movie it was very crowded and cramped.
  5. I love this scene, I love the way that Jack blanks out when he realizes that his ship is gone. For your MOC, I like the way that you made the Black Pearl smaller to make it seem like it's sailing away into the distance. I also think that you did a good job designing the characters with the bricks you have available in LDD. In my opinion, Jack's boat looks more like a raft than a dingy. I think that you should use the rowboat hull and put a mast with other details on it. Also, you should consider adding some barrels that Gibbs could be leaning against and some other details on the dock such as animals, crates, and more people. Finally, it would be really neat if you added a ship on the side of the dock loading or unloading cargo. If I remember correctly, there were several ships at the dock in this scene.
  6. Thank you to everyone for your nice and kind comments. I have edited my entry based off of your replys and edited the first post. I hope that this is legal. Please tell me what you think!
  7. Another fantastic entry for a fantastic contest! Granted I have never seen the move, but this seems to be really cool! I like the ripples in the water around Jack but I think that you should add them to Barbosa and Blackbeard when they battle. I also like the skeletons but I think that you should add some more bones around in the water ( if that's movie accurate). The lighting and black backdrop really give it that ominous feel.
  8. This enrtry is perfect. You really nailed Tia Dalma with the pieces available to you and her shack, wow it's perfect! I love the vegetation growing on everything and the little river breaking the scene in two. The way that you added a little hill that the shack is on really makes this scene more interesting. The only thing I might do would be to add some dead trees in the water along with some dead foliage.
  9. Beckett is my favorite character so this scene is not exactly joyful for me. But the MOC on the other hand, now that's a different story. I like the cotton for smoke and the way that the ship is blowing up around Beckett. I also think that you picked a good color scheme. I would suggest changing Beckett's face. He never has any facial hair so I think that a shocked expression or the Imperial Officers head works good with his sneer. I also think that you should add some sailors abandoning ship and some dead men on the ground. You might consider adding a cannon or two on the deck of the ship.
  10. I have not seen the new movie so I cannot comment on the accuracy of the scene but it look interesting. You should try to make the whole thing in one color or have more of a pattern to the color scheme. Also, I think that you should make the entire floor with SNOT or without it. I don't think that a combination works very well. Maybe you could add some barrels or crates that are cluttered around. Finally, you should smooth out the ships hull in my opinion. P.S. Could you please use proper grammar? I know that I make many mistakes but simple spelling, capitalizing you "I"s and breaking up you ideas into paragraphs really help people follow along!
  11. I was not expecting to see this! I like the creativity in the idea! You did a nice job on the dock and Jack along with his boat (in other words, the whole thing). I like the way that you made his coat part down the torso and I love the beads that Jack has in his hair. I don't like the fingers on his right hand though. They seem more like chicken talons than fingers. I also think that you should fix the ships flag. It has a worn out feeling to it but it reminds me of Indian feathers instead of a flag. Finally, I think that you should use some 1x1 round plates for Jacks eyes. I don't know but I imagine that would look better. Keep up the good work!
  12. That looks like a good MOC. I like all of the pirates with their swords out. They look like an unruly bunch. I also like Jack Sparrow hiding behind the rocks. I think that you should try to do something neat with the water using SNOT or trans-blue bricks. I also agree that you should spread out the gold a bit. I hope that you get the rest of the pictures uploaded soon!
  13. You are much better with LDD than I am. I can never seem to get that program to like me. Anyways, I really like the MOC. I think that it's clever the way that you made the ships in micro scale so that they would all fit. I think that you did a great job on the ships using the different parts for the sails, cannonballs, and the sterns. To sum it up, this is how I would imagine these ships in micro scale. The one thing that bothers me is the water. I don't like the aerial view of it. Maybe you could try using some SNOT and making the waves a bit more connected if that's possible with LDD. Also, if you can, I think that you should have the Endeavor blowing up and parts flying into the water. Good luck in the voting!
  14. I think that you should add something so that when a ship sinks, the remaining crew has a chance to board the longboat ( if the ship has one) or grab onto a piece of wreckage. Then, a passing ship could pick them up and they could join the crew or be captured. Also, I felt like the battle was a little short compared to the time that it took for the ships to reach each other.
  15. This is a nice scene that you have built here. I like the detail on the walls to make the black look more interesting. It does seem to have a very dismal look to it, just like the movie. The soldiers on the ramparts and the EITC flag are nice additions that help to add detail to this scene. I would suggest moving the gallows towards the front of the MOC a bit and moving the EITC soldiers to one side of the death row line. That area seems a bit over crowded to me. Also, I think that a custom torso would look good for Becket and since you are not using any official POTC characters, I think that you can make one. Additionally, the ground seems too uneven. I think that you should fill in some of the holes and make the slope more gradual. Finally on the cross beam that holds the ropes, I would try to make that narrower with 1x1 round bricks.
  16. As you can probably guess from the title, my entry shows Mister Smith, uh, I mean Jack Sparrow arriving at the Port Royal docks while his boat sinks underneath him. I wanted to make the whole thing bigger with some rowboats but I was limited by the number of trans-blue 1x1 bricks that were avaliable to me. Enjoy. Overview Jack getting off his "boat" One less that happy dock worker. "Darn hippies, can't take a normal boat like the rest of us". Harbor Master with his desk Harbor Master with his slave I look forward to your responces. More can be found here. EDIT: I forgot to add, that I would like the Mill if I win
  17. Another great entry! This is a great scene and you did a nice job of capturing it. I like the water around the alter with the stone chest and the three undead pirates who attack Will and Elizabeth are a nice touch to improve a great scene! The gold everywhere seems acurate along with C-3PO, I'm pretty sure that he's in a movie or something like that . Some things I would do for improvement. First, I think that you should have Will and Elizabeth fighting the other three undead pirates off to the side. Either that or have Will cutting his hand to release the curse. Also, not to be rude but I really don't like the flesh colored hands for Jack the monkey; it just doesn't look the same as the yellow ones.
  18. That's a nice miniscale ship however I think that it can be improved. First, for the sails try using a white or gray brick instead of the gold ones. I think that would make them look more realistic. I also think that the bowsprit is too long. Since you can use custom rigging, try to use some string to make it look like the ship is rigged. Also, the bowsprit should angle upwards. Towards the stern, try to make the side of the ship slope upwards towards the top of the quarter deck. On the bow, you have a 1x1 plate with a side connector. I think that you should clarify what that is and add a second to the other side to make the ship symmetrical. Finally, good luck in the contest!
  19. This is one of my favorite battles to learn about and I think that you captured the feel for it. The destroyed cannon with the French troops in retreat and some craters from cannons look really nice. Using the feather for smoke coming out of a musket also looks really good. I can't wait to see more MOCs from you!
  20. You did a great job creating this scene. All the details are there and the comic just makes an already great MOC that much better! I also really like the way that you built the walls with multiple colors and the donkey's gear turning contraption ( I have no idea what it's called). I also like that Will has a raptor while Jack has a cutlass. To sum it up, you seem to have captured every detail of this scene from Pirates of the Caribbean. The only thing I would change is the floor. It's a clever design to be sure but I dislike the holes in it.
  21. Thank you for sharing that find with us! I like that fort. It's a decent size and I really like the circular wall design. The only thing I would change would be to change the white circular bricks to gray to match the rest of the wall.
  22. EDIT Doubble post:blush:.
  23. Sign me up! I've played in three previous mafia/ Role playing games with praise from Bob the Construction man in Red Scare. I am going to be in the Dominican Republic from July 6-13 however I will have internet access and should be able to post at least twice a day.
  24. A nice MOC of an easily recognizable scene. You did a great job on the ships interior. I especially like the lowest deck and the way that you seem to have captured the mayhem on the ship as the crew prepares to battle the Kraken. Several things I might do differently. First off, I really like the ripples in the water around the Pearl and where the tentacles come up however I think that you should make the water using the SNOT tecniqe. Also, the ship seems to have a lack of crew members. I think that adding some more minifigs could help to fill up some of the empty spaces. Finally, I think that you should change the scene so that the Kraken is attacking and the crew is fighting back. You could have cannon balls flying, muskets firing as some helpless sailor gets plucked from the deck. Good luck in the contest, you defiantly have a chance! EDIT: I missed the first picture with Jack facing the Kraken! That's fantastic! I love all the teeth facing inwords and the tentacle crawling up the side of the ship. Really well done!
  25. That's a fantastic MOC and you did an outstanding job on the background photoshop job! The bridge in the upper right in really clever also. The only thing I might do to improve it would be to add a Cannibal on the bridge walking past or add some more people inside the cage.
