My First Shot at a Vignette
Captain Genaro replied to The Ghost of Yellow Beard's topic in Pirate MOCs
It looks like a nice start. What is it suppose to be? I would suggest adding an animal and some smaller rock formations around the skeleton and mabey some additional bones scattered about. -
That's amazing! Huge, massive, and full of detail. This makes me wish I could go to Brickcon ( or any Lego convention for that matter).
-
It said that if your ship is built above the waterline to add 30% more weight. I'm assuming that the lego hulls are above the waterline?
-
That's a really nice ship. I love the tiled decks and the drum. Do you have any pictures of the crew manning her? Did you add any cannons or did that stay the same?
-
It all looks really good Horry. I think that I will like this. One problem, when I clicked on the link, it took me to a website with some questionable, not kid friendly pop up ads. I was able to download the rules but I was just wondering if anyone else noticed the ads.

So I added some Catheads and a preliminary swivel gun. I also lowered the ratlines. Now for some questions. To connect an anchor to the cathead, would I simply hang it like this? Also, what are the differences between this flag and this flag? I looked it up and I found multiple explanations such as the blue flag is for an officer in the RN reserve and it had to do with home ports etc.

Okay, so I decided to open a Flickr account with Brickshelf giving me all sorts of problems so now I have some updates! Overall You can see in this picture that I started to add some rigging. I think that the ropes are a little skinny so I might have to run off to a crafts store. Admiral Croissant: In English the red parts are called "Mast Caps". Also, since I used some technic parts so the spanker could turn, I cannot find a way to increase the angle without making it increased by too much. Captain Becker: I have been looking at some pictures of other ships to see different details and how to build them but if anyone has any good ideas or pictures, I would love to see them.

Looking over all these rules, I think that it would be a lot of fun but I would also suggest adding several things. 1) Some ships/crews were better at fighting because they had better officers who trained the men to be faster gunners, stricter discipline etc. 2) How would weather/ night play into effect? I might be able to escape an opponent who is beating me if the weather turns in my favor or if I can lose him in the dark. I really like where this is going. 1,4,3,2. Interesting logic:pir-tongue:.

I hate to put a damper on this but I agree with the rest of the comments. I think that a better idea would be to create a list of MOC's and then group them based off of construction, size, etc. I think that the mods have something similar to this already. Now, if you want something where individual owners had their ships battle each other, that might be a different story...

That's a really nice classic town that you have there. I like the houses and the brick built tree. Looks like you're off to a great start!

I know that it has been a while since an update. I have been busy but after a little time on Bricklink I have an update! Sorry for the bad picture quality. It's cloudy out and I don't have studio lighting:pir-hmpf_bad:. More here when moderated. Thank you for that advice. I decided to use those for the thinner mast part. I'm using that for the bowchasers but the rest of the cannons on the gun deck will not change.

Are POTC sets too expensive?
Captain Genaro replied to Swashbuckling buccaneer's topic in LEGO Pirates
I think that they are expensive but they seem to be a reasonable price for what I want. Additionally, I am only planning on getting several of the smaller sets for parts rather than the bigger sets. I remember reading something about copyright laws and how TLG had better protection for their product inside the EU as opposed to the U.S. This allowed Megablocks and similar companies to use more Lego designs and consquently, Lego had stiffer competition in the U.S. This was a while ago so I'm not sure if the laws have changed but this might be one reason for the lower U.S. prices. -
This looks like a promising MOC. I would suggest making the wall a little taller and perhaps adding a door or the blacksmith sign. Keep up the good work!

That's a very clever idea for the use of a rowboat. It looks like one of the cannons is missing. Could you not fit it in with the oarlock?
-
This sure is a big ship. Are you making it in minifig scale? Given that I know very little about Queen Anne's Revenge, I think that the bow looks too long and narrow. Is it supost to go like that?
-
This looks very nice. I really like the dead pirate with the peg leg. I can't wait to see the final pictures!

The second I saw this I thought that it looked familiar. Excellent job on the cars and the tree. The farmers and the speed limit sign are nice details.

Red Scare Mystery - Conclusion
Captain Genaro replied to Bob's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Thank you very much. I made several small mistakes (writing notes in english without disguising my handwriting, almost forgetting to make sure no english was in my cabin) but I guess that I was able to cover them up fairly well. Oh and one more thing, I also think it's a shame I died. -
Red Scare Mystery - Conclusion
Captain Genaro replied to Bob's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Thank you Bob for such a great game! It must have been hard with everything going on but I had a great time ( untill I died ). So now everyone knows who the framer was and his motives. -
That is really well built! I have never seen a HUMVEE in person but it looks like the ones in the pictures. How much did this cost? I'm tempted to build one...
-
That's really neat! I like the coconut in the tree and the way that you made Jack's sword stand up in the sand.

Red Scare Mystery -Confirmation and Discussion
Captain Genaro replied to Bob's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Well, thanks for a great game everyone (except whoever killed me). I hope I did a good job contributing to the game. Brickdoctor keep an eye out for anyone in compleat black holding a gun, they might try to kill you. -
Red Scare Mystery - Chapter Eleven
Captain Genaro replied to Bob's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
No that's not what I mean at all. Untill WW2, WW1 was called the Great War but after WW2, it was simply called WW1. Mabey you should borrow some of my books. -
Red Scare Mystery - Chapter Eleven
Captain Genaro replied to Bob's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
You know that the Great War was WW1 pre-WW2 but I assume you mean WW2. I would like to answer yet another question.
