Love it, my favorite part of Star Wars is the aliens and creatures so the fact that you got this interview makes me very happy I like the story about the sandflies and the honey. I guess my one criticism of Force Awakens used to be that there wasn't enough of the original aliens but after reading this i'm okay with them not doing them for TFA. If I was him I think I would want to be free to create new creatures and not be trapped in the past too much. I do hope they include more of the original aliens in the rest of the trilogy though, even if mixed with new ones. Great interview Bendu!

I doubt Lego would have final designs on this many characters so far out from the set releases. We still have 5 months until they release, so while i'm sure they're pretty far into the design process I doubt they're shelf ready let alone display ready. Either way i'm excited for the sets. In the trailer we got to see a bunch of Rebel Naval Troopers and Endor style commandos. Hopefully a set with those guys. The two ideal sets would be an empire and rebel battle pack on the same level of quality as the current two but with Rogue One units.

Well played Unfortunately that movie would never sell here, most Americans would look at you and think "what the heck is a meter?" It'd be one of those big successes in Europe we never hear about in the US except for people in niche film clubs and random connecting articles on Wikipedia.

I may be totally insane for saying this but this is an awesome set! They definitely should have replaced Alex and Steve with two additional villagers. Perhaps this will seem better if they come out with a cheap set that has a villager or two.

No I think it's "A Yard"

I don't know if i'm sold on these designs yet. On one hand they're still cool on the other it's like why not just use ESB and ROTJ style ones? They're kindle cool in the sense they appear to be a merging of the ones from Rebels and the ones in ESB which adds to the whole evolution of design. That aspect I really like. The real question is, does their design diverge enough to warrant another Lego Set?

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here

Thank you everyone I am going to get the Final Duel then. I've also been seriously considering getting Arealight's custom clone commando helmet and backpack, does anyone have any experience with Arealight or own any of their products? It looks like high quality 3rd party stuff but I haven't talked to anyone whose actually gotten an Arealight's products. -
That is awesome! Are the pictures public or not? If not could you give us set details?

Four hands?

I could totally understand it then if they were setting that up for her to be Rey's mom. Casting range could be a little limited in that case. I guess this is a testament to how exciting it that a new Star Wars movie is coming out.

It's partly because it's Disney AND Star Wars so the potential of a very archetypal character is much higher. Disney had less a hand in the Force Awakens I don't know their involvement in this. Like I said it's just my opinion based off a single trailer. I'm not saying that will be the result and i'm admitting I could be completely wrong. I hope i'm wrong.

You need to see that movie, love or hate you need to see it at least once it's just that much a classic. I would say that about most of Hitchcock's films but especially of Vertigo, Psycho, The Birds, and Rear window. If you enjoy his style and the simpsons episode you will like it. Same here I absolutely love Hitchcock films. I have yet to watch Hitchcock Presents but as far movies go I would say i'm also a bit of a fanboy

DISCLAIMER: I am looking forward to Rogue One a LOT, the following is just my opinion on Jyn Erso. Let's be real Jyn Erso does not look like she's going to be an interesting character BASED off of the teaser trailer they have released. She feels generic because I think it's on purpose. She's like Luke Skywalker or Commander Shepherd in Mass Effect, she's a point of entry character in a universe full of crazy stuff. Her character is supposed to be bland so that a wide range of people watching the movie can find a way of relating to her in an otherwise unrelatable situation. The reason her character bothers me though isn't because she's a female, I love that they're diversifying. In fact i'm annoyed yet again the strong lead female protagonist is white and not Black, Asian, Latino, or even white from a culture different then the US or England. It's because like Divergent, 50 Shades of Gray, Maze Runner, even the Hunger Games to a point, and so many others they do the same thing with the female protagonist. Strong, independent, rebellious, goes against the system but with a laid back demeanor. To me that's fake diversity. Look Hollywood does the same thing with male characters as well but here's the difference. There are so many male protagonists that there are enough interesting ones to counteract the slew of generic ones. That's not the same for female characters, the weight of having just another generic female character is much heavier. At a certain point she becomes less of a character and more of a caricature. This could all turn out to be unfounded and Jyn Erso in fact becomes one of the most interesting characters in Star Wars, if that's so i'll recant what I said above in a heartbeat.

why don't you just keep the FO BP's, open a few and then sell a bunch a few years from now? At one point you may not be working for Lego Retail anymore so will it matter once that happens if you sell or not? Battle packs especially go up in price and while we criticize it now for having a weird minifiugre selection, it's perfect for building up a well rounded FO army.

Android Game I've Developed - Feedback Appreciated
Forresto replied to Vorkosigan's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I'm not going to lie i've been playing this game for a week and i'm really enjoying myself! I think some sort of time element is a good idea. Here's my suggestion take it or leave it. Maybe you could add a "leveling system" to the game. Each level gives you less and less time to place a piece. For example level 1 and 2, you have a 35 seconds. Level 3 and 4 you have 25 seconds, level 5 and 6, 20 seconds. Level 7 and 8, 15 seconds. Level 9 and 10, 10 seconds. You keep it like that for a couple levels until eventually, by maybe level 15, take away one of the three options of shapes. By level 20 only give one option of shape. If not that I think Roizirobs is right about a time system. Maybe something as simple as if each level had a threshold of points you needed to reach to move on and you only have 10 seconds to place a piece. -

Found a DVD of Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window at a thrift store today. What a fantastic movie, still holds up after all these years and of course it's Jimmy Stewart in a Hitchcock film! Need I say more?

Wouldn't that be an awesome idea for a storyline though? The Mon Calamari are passively supporting the Rebellion by "Losing" ships in raids or attacks. Maybe the Destruction of the first Death Star is sort of like the Battle of Saratoga in the American Revolution which convinced our foreign benefactors such as the French to form an official Alliance. The difference here since Mon Cala is under Imperial control, Imperial military presence increases to protect the Mon Cala shipyards, so they as a people inadvertently put themselves under greater scrutiny. It's possible that Mon Cala is always under Imperial rule until a certain point like the death of the Emperor but the Mon Calamari were able to sneak a bunch of their ships over to the rebellion.

I almost feel like we need an updated thread of this. As for old big sets I own literally none of these but I remember as a kid desperately wanting the AT-AT badly. My mom didn't think it was very interesting with all the grey pieces so alas it never happened. First world problems

Yeah the windows are definitely square but screw it, this is such an awesome diorama and the lighting is perfect! Greatness!

I just want to see the Empire maintain it's badassery. For me it's not enough to hear about them winning, I want to see it. With Clone Wars, If the separatists lost I could care less even though I acted like I did, but the Empire is iconic. I guess I look at it this way. The Imperials are basically the nazis and the Alliance is the allies. Well what makes WW2 so horrible in reality but compelling to study is that even when Nazi Germany was at a fraction of its strength and losing the war badly they were still holding out and fighting hard. Just look at the Soviet siege of Berlin. Obviously I don't find the nazis badass, they're evil people, but my point is that even when they lost battles it wasn't any great victory for the Allies considering how many causalities they inflicted in the closing battles of the war. We talk about Normandy being a success in tandem with the large cost and loss of human life. In my opinion if Rogue One is going to be the gritty Star Wars war movie, even though we know at least one of them escapes with the plans, the rebels need to be shown paying a large or significant cost for their victory. Considering ANH Yavin seems like that's all the Rebels have at their direct disposal they're not in a great state. In the new canon comic 'Leia', Akbar leads the evacuation of Yavin IV after the destruction of the first Death Star. It's a weird change I would never have heard about if a friend hadn't mentioned it to me. Edit: Juniorshark beat me to it hehe
