  1. Thanks a lot guys. I really had not anticipated so many positive comments, I'm happy now! @Kristel: I've done an archway like this before, it just went unnoticed ... @Mikey: I'm really glad that you spelled out the rules for the contest according to what I had sitting on my desk @DG: I've made the mixture of red, dark red and orange in walls and roofs sort of my trade mark, you can actually see it in most of my recent mocs. @Eccles: I sure did have the one or the other glass of red wine when I build this. So go ahead, it's meant to be enjoyed with a glass or two in hand
  2. Thanks guys, I'm really happy that finally one of my mocs seems to be exciting, been practising for a while I guess ... @MK: the windows are meant sorta romanesque/gothic style wich I found extremely diffucult to do in LEGO. I'm glad I finally manged the problem @Z: although I still am Mitgardian to the bone, I found Varlyria somewhat liberating. I really wanted to do something more Italian/Spanish and I guess Kaliphlin felt too Arabic for that. Mikey really hit the right note with his moc. @Wedge: I'm glad an Italian likes this @Legonardo: Well, you actually inspired me to do an irregular basis, so the credit goes to you! @CS+Penkid: Yes of course, having spent a week in Tuscany studying architecture, art and cuisine really helped this moc, there are also some Spanish influences in this too.
  3. skys have cleared up, snow has melted, in other words: the first entry:
  4. Eccles, it's a good thing your back! Quite an impressive layout you created there, I wish I had someone in town to collaborate with
  5. finally I can post this, it was to cold for it in Mitgardia : discussion: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=75409
  6. Whereas Mitgardia is preparing for winter already, Varlyria enjoys the sun of a typical Mediterranean autumn. It is the season of the grape harvest, people in Varlyria consider the year's most prestine time. At the St. Gustavo vineyard too, the harvest is in full swing: picking the ripe grapes is a strenous yet cherishing work: grapes are being sqashed nearby: and two soldiers off duty enjoy the houses best red: Sven Thorsson, captain of the Mitgardian cog "Lady Emma" has just arrived in order to take in wines so good, that they can't be found anywhere in Historica. It is a peaceful life here in Varlyria, why return to Historica with all its elemental havoc? (After spending the first week of October in Tuscany enjoying good food and excellent wine I really had to do this moc. Hope you guys like it!!)
  7. alright, I'm just waiting for the sky to clear (we're just having the first snow) so I can take the pics. My moc is done and fits the criteria perfectlty well!!
  8. good to hear that there still is life inside this guild!!
  9. looking much better now, espcially the battlements!! (dude, you really ought to get rid of that wall paper! )
  10. I really wonder what the guild leaders are up to these days, haven't seen either posting here for a while ... I know real life etc. ...
  11. that is one massive moc soccerkid, I really like the pillars and the rock gate! However, your inner courtyard (is that what it is?) still needs more detailing I'd say (btw, when did you change your wall paper the last time )
  12. Wow, what a great masterpiece! So many things I like about it, the rigging, the deck, the cannons, all just really cool. And the best thing about it is, that it actually made me take my unfinished Endeavour project from the shelf and stark working on it again!
  13. My moc is pretty much done, except for the one or the other minifig. So what do I do?
  14. Nice little vig, I like it. Interesting to see how you did these trees. With building in Varlyrio that shouldn't pose a problem.
  15. That's why I've started building medieval ships!
  16. Yeah great, I'm actually having something similar on my mind, but with GoH running, I haven't been able to do any pirate mocs.
  17. BTW, I just wanted to mention to all Mitgardians, that the community build is still running, although the contest in now down to two. So in case you had something in mind, bring it up, I'd be happy to see it!
  18. Thanks DG, unfortunately I've already broken up the whole thing, but next time I'll think of it!
  19. The pillory is just such a great idea. I mean the rest is pretty cool too, but the pillory really gave me a good laugh!
  20. alright you two, here is your challenge: in order to become Master Mason of Valholl you are to design a tower (not a corner tower!) for the wall in order to protect the beloved capital from outside dangers!! Due date is November 11th In the meanwhile I'll think of a follow up title!
  21. I'd say voting is over now, but somehow we have a tie. Which leads me to the idea, that the two of you should make one more section in order to to determine the real master mason. What do you think?
  22. Hey guys, thanks for the positive feedback. Well, doing snot water has been done before. The difficulty with this was to do a bend. That's why I had to include the rapids and continue with tiles as I didn't come up with a good way to continue the snot water around the bend. I hope the transition is not too extreme. As for the forge, I visited Guedelon this summer, where I came across this forge, which I really had to in LEGO:
  23. does that count for guild internal contests as well, and who of the three history regulators is actually in charge?
  24. that's pretty new, since when has this been policy? I'm just very curious as I was about to end my Wall of Valholl challenge.
  25. I'm almost done with my first Varlyrio Moc, it'd just be cool to get more information on how to handle this fith guild before I enter it.
