  1. Thanks ZO6 for the great review. What a great little set. Makes me wish Lego would give the Adventurers theme another go, but I can't see that happening anytime soon, even with the phasing out of the Indy theme. Maybe in about two to three years time, fingers crossed. At least we managed to brick-link the zepplin, which should be arriving in the next couple of weeks...
  2. Gorgeous figs, LuxorV. They all look suitably smug and heroic.
  3. Cool review Svelte! I'm surprised Lego aren't trying harder with their colour mixing system, when this is the result. In large scale sets, like the Turbo Tank, or Sand Crawler, you can get away with such inconsistencies, but here it is so blatant, even a relatively unobservant person like myself can notice. It's still a cute model though, especially with the exorcist head feature. And no, you've got Sieggy all wrong, he's really a very shy, introverted person (cough)...
  4. What was really sad was how excited Sieggy and I got by the commercials at the start of the DVD. We just don't seem to get Lego ads on free-to-air TV. The movie was great, and I hope they do more (they've definitely left it open for a sequel or two). It would be a bit odd if Lego didn't at least do a basic set or a mini-fig pack from the movie, seeing as they are doing so many other licenced themes. I mean, why not? I would love particularly an Arty fig, with that gorgeous two-tone hair and the shoes-and-trousers printed legs (admittedly the legs freaked out at first, but I grew to like them). This could be the first time in ages when I'm eagerly awaiting any merchandise they churn out...
  5. Aww, that's gorgeous! All those pretty colours... I wish our kids would make stuff like that. They are both a bit too lazy, tending to throw together a few random pieces and call it a "head ship"... Er, that's great kids (cue weak, confused laugh)...
  6. Great MOC Aliencat, I love the chunky sides, and the colours work so well.
  7. Oh my ISC, that's amazing work. I love all the details and figs you've crammed into this MOC. The stained glass windows work a treat! Well done!
  8. One trend that the Walrus and I have noticed with Shop@Home prices is that sets that are one-store exclusives (noticably Myer/David Jones) always seem to mysteriously to go up shortly before the set is released in the respective store chain, where they appear on sale. I don't really mind, except that I sometimes feel like a dog in a Pavlov experiment, being conditioned to salivate when likely-looking Myers/David Jones exclusives appear on Shop@Home. Yes, I've been well trained...
  9. OmiGod Svelte, this MOC is the "da bomb", as the young people say. I think I know the building it's based on, I probably used to pass it on the way to Kings Cross (ah, good times...). The tile roof is a thing of beauty, and the trees are completely awesome. What set/fig is the hipster chick's torso from? It's completely gorgeous, I want one. Oh, and very sound advice about staying away from men wearing gold pants! Triple A+++! Yay!!
  10. In these recessional times, you might have to settle for a firm (not limp-wristed, please!) hand shake.
  11. At $250, the Australian price for Grand Emporium actually seems more fair than usual, compared to sets like the UCS Millenium Falcon, where we paid well over twice the American price. Could it be that Lego are finally updating their currency conversion rates from those awful days when the AUD was half that of the USD? Referring back to the UCS Millenium Falcon example, when that was released, the AUD was hovering around the 90 cents mark. Even taking into consideration taxes etc, we shouldn't have been charged twice the American price. We were so enraged about it to the point of sending a similar "WTF" email to Shop@home, and got a very similar reply. The real reason behind the disparity is that TLG really want to suck up to the US market, and are prepared to do this at the expense of everyone else. As much as I want Lego to live long and prosper, can't they share the pricing love a little more evenly? Sometimes I think that's why Shop@Home anomalies, like the AUD$400 price on the Death Star, mysteriously occur, as an attempt to "kiss and make up" to non US customers.
  12. Great review Svelte, and what an amazing set! I didn't think this was possible, but now we want this set even more. Like a giddy couple sneaking off to a love hotel, we're jiggling with excitement (sorry, I've been reading too much manga), or maybe I'm just feeling a bit odd looking at that half-naked mini fig swanning around the trouser shop...Yay, Viagara!!
  13. Wow, great MOC ImLost! I love all the little details you've managed to squeeze into this cute model. The levers as windscreen wipers work really well.
  14. Yes, we owe a lot of our Star Wars Lego purchases to this magical sliding scale of prices. Honestly, sometimes I think this is all some whacky, and somewhat disturbing social experiment by Lego. Personally, I think they've gone a bit far this year. Even on sale the Fresco speeder doesn't seem to be racing off the shelves. What's even more telling is that a certain walrus isn't saying things like, "Well, actually that set is better value than I originally thought..." Heh, if I had a dollar for all the times I've heard that...
  15. Whoa, amazing MOC Kim T! It's so impressive to see so many Moncalmari together. Really, you've captured the scene beautifully. And all those gorgeous shiny tiles...wow...
  16. There is so much love lavished on every detail of this, it's just amazing. The parallel Luke about to swing over to the other platform with Princess Leia is a very dashing figure indeed. Great work!
  17. Hinckley, feeling the pressure of being uber-hunky, walks past a beauty salon and starts feeling the urge for botox. But never fear, the dynamic duo of Siegfried and Walrus Keeper are on hand to "whack" the idea out of his head! Did they succeed? Only time, and more Facebook discussions will tell! Go Team Planet I mean Walrus!!! PS A big thank you to Sieggy for helping me with this. And again, sorry for spilling all that Lego...
  18. Great vigs danny! Considering their monochrome nature, the photos turned out pretty good. The second one is probably my favourite. It always stands out (to my mind) when someone creates something out of Lego with dark overtones. Of course, I'm a complete wimp when it comes to horror, but good work anyway!
  19. I know from personal experience that it can be a long, torturous process. Siegfried took a couple of years to clamber out of the closet. The funniest part is that I missed so many signs: the slowing of the feet whenever we strolled past a Lego lane, diving on ultra cheap sets that found their way to the bargain bin, the constant ridicule and distain of Mega Blocks. It wasn't until he finally, boldly declared his interest in Lego one day that I realised this wasn't just a passing fad, but a deep-rooted love. Nowadays of course I get just as excited about up-coming sets as he does, so it's all good!
  20. Are you okay sweetie? You're suddenly sweating profusely, and your hand is trembling so much you're spilling coffee all over the place...
  21. Ah, it's so good to see the sport of Curling get some love. Great MOC Matija, and very nice photography too. The Swedish team is gorgeous!
  22. I know it's already been said, but...CUTE! Gives me flashbacks to the good 'ol days...
  23. Happy Birthday WhiteFang! May you be showered with hand-made snow globes and love!
  24. Yet another great MOC lightningtiger! At this rate, you'll have a full-grown CBD at your disposal. I'm really looking forward to Ettamunga (?) Pub...
  25. Oh my God, with hair like that he is like a character out of a Manga!! Somebody help me, I'm melting, I'm melting...
