Hello, Bonjour, grüß Gott, Guten Tag, Aloha
Princess Muttonchops replied to Madame Du Bricky's topic in Hello! My name is...
Welcome to Eurobricks Madame! With that great range of interests, I look forward to seeing your MOCs. -
Brilliant work LuxorV. You've really captured the characters...G man is so creepy. What is it about characters with halting, deliberate speech patterns that is so unnerving? You must have done a lot of research to achieve such good results...

Review: 852751 Pirates Chess Set
Princess Muttonchops replied to einsteinonthebeach's topic in LEGO Pirates
Lego chess sets are just so practical and stylish. We have a Knight's Kingdom chess set, which is great for those long-running, epic battles (not that we play too much these days, I get too grumpy when the Walrus beats me ). From that point of view, you might be able to overlook any difference in minifig quality. It is however alarming if this trend of sub-standard manufacture continues. Let's just hope the lesser-quality minifigs are the product of an out-sourcing mistake, and that Lego are just using them up while rectifying the situation... -
[MOC]: Osgiliath Invaded
Princess Muttonchops replied to Inconspicuous's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I'm sorry to argue with Fumoffu, but I'd like a photo with more light. It's kind of hard to see all the cool details of delapidation in the photo...maybe I need to get my eyes tested. Nevertheless, it's a cool MOC, and I really look forward to the gallery becoming public again. -
Corker! What a brilliant MOC! I love the clash of worlds. The lion head cornices (if that's the right word) are very cool and classic. I'm so glad the power miner and rock monster have sorted things out.

Wow, awesome work Kaitan...very arty photos. You've really captured the feel of the movie (my personal favourite out of all the Star Wars movies). And so much white...it gleams...

Thank you very much for the tip Arthas!! I'll probably still order the volume, but at least now my waiting will be less painful... -
What Books do you like?
Princess Muttonchops replied to Peppermint_M's topic in Culture & Multimedia
My husband and I (said in a very Queen-like manner) are both into Sci-fi/Fantasy. We both dig the classic writers, such as Clark, Asimov, Adams, etc. Robert Heinlein is good, if a little too obsessed with sex at times. Greg Bear is also very good. I think Stephen Donaldson is completely brilliant, although his work can sometimes be uncomfortable to read. It's really odd, I could tolerate the coarseness and brutality of the Gap series, yet I didn't make past the second chapter of White Gold Bearer. Lately I've become completely obsessed with manga. It all started on my birthday, when in sheer desperation I chose the Part 1 DVD set of Ouran High Host Club. It came bundled with Vol 1 of the manga of the same name. I read the volume and fell in love, and in short time scoured the net for more. Bisco Hatori, the author of Ouran High Host Club, has a real knack for developing compelling characters. Unfortunately, I've run out of volumes to read (Vol 14 comes out in September...so far away...groan), so if anyone has any other manga they recommend, by all means lay it on me. I'm thinking of giving Deathnote a try... -
MOC: Japan Railway Bullet Train
Princess Muttonchops replied to PrinceWilliam's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Very cool MOC, Prince William. I love the cut-away sections, exposing the cool stuff within. The multi-floored car has to be my personal favourite, with the helpful attendant waiting patiently to serve hordes of passengers. -
Pirate Tic Tac Toe - Cheap Part Alert
Princess Muttonchops replied to Apache's topic in LEGO Pirates
Double darn and ouch! -
I agree it's disappointing that they're doing yet another fire station. Perhaps it's time Lego stretched the cycle to a new fire/police station every 5 to 6 years, as opposed to the 2 to 3 year cycle we currently have. Seriously, the gurus at Lego need to add a few more options to their list of City set ideas. Instead of focusing on such action-oriented sets, maybe they should include themes that kids can actually relate to, like going to a supermarket, or school? Of course, they'd probably feel compelled to add explosive devices to keep young boys interested (maybe a black market rather than a supermarket then...) On the ultra-bright, super-duper terrific side, I can now stop oogling Brick Forge pigs, whining all the while "why can't Lego make mini-fig scale pigs? Why???!"

Pirate Tic Tac Toe - Cheap Part Alert
Princess Muttonchops replied to Apache's topic in LEGO Pirates
Darn, I was so excited when I learnt about these sets. We'll probably still buy the Pirate TTT when it comes out, because it contains the gorgeous female pirate, but I guess our excitement will be somewhat fettered. Can't say I've noticed any marked difference in quality with the magnet sets (admittedly we've only got two so far). Now I'll be too afraid to look more closely at them... -
I feel the jester's pain...

I'd have more hope for the Tekken movie if it was done as a CG feature. The unlockable clips in the game are done gorgeously...why not just do a whole movie like that? And that's not counting the upcoming Tekken 6, which promises to be absolutely awesome. But seriously, what is Hollywood's obsession with turning any vaguely amusing console game or anime into live action flicks?? Arrgghh!!!

Getting girls to play with/buy LEGO
Princess Muttonchops replied to FiletOFish's topic in General LEGO Discussion
At the risk of having virtual pens and paper balls hurled at me (imagining that we're all in some virtual boardroom, discussing this troubling issue), I think the core of the problem is that the powers-that-be at Lego marketing seem to have a stuffy, old-age view of girls in general. The severe lack of female mini-figs in the "normal" city sets is astonishing. Any female mini-figs included are at best token females, with no clearly defined role besides their obvious femininity. I would love to see female cops, female firefighters, female rescue workers. Seriously, give the girls something to do, Lego! Why do we need to have sets specifically designed to capture girls' hearts anyway? Mini-figs are adorable enough without making them pink and frilly. My nine-year old daughter loves playing with the mini-figs, whether they're "girlified" or not. To be honest, I don't mind the Belville line, but as many people have pointed out, the pieces are hard to build freely with, being so big and chunky. This isn't going to encourage girls to be creative with Lego. So, in summary (imagining that I'm pointing at a virtual whiteboard, covered with confusing, messy diagrams), we don't need "special" Lego for girls, we just need to demolish this "him"/"her" mentality that is currently so prevalent. Break down the gender walls, Lego, and set our children's minds free!!!...A heavy silence falls over the virtual boardroom... -
Fantastic review Copmike! Admiral Ackbar is just awesome. And Mon Mothma is a babe! I didn't realise how interactive the set was. I'd say the magnitude line, but you did too good a job in the video.

Congratulations Sieggy! Do I now have to curtsy or something whenever I'm in your presence? Or maybe just clamber onto a table and cry out "O Walrus, my Walrus" (reference to "Dead Poet's Society" for you youngsters out there)?!?
-
Great layout, Brickster. If I were a minifig, I'd definitely want to live in Train Town, although I am concerned that the presence of a "friendly" farm hints at the existence of an "unfriendly" farm. Cue Twilight Zone music... The big dark red building looks gorgeous!

REVIEW: Indiana Jones 7196 Chauchilla Cemetery Battle
Princess Muttonchops replied to Svelte's topic in LEGO Licensed
Definitely no argument there. You could have knocked me over with a feather when the UCS Millenium Falcon reached the number one spot on Shop at Home, and stayed there for weeks, even when it cost Australians just under $1000! You really have to wonder at what point people will say "Gosh, that's just too darn expensive, even for a Star Wars set". -
Wow, the quality of the stitching is amazing. It must have been made with love (tee hee hee) (girly giggle). Aagghhh!!!!

REVIEW: Indiana Jones 7196 Chauchilla Cemetery Battle
Princess Muttonchops replied to Svelte's topic in LEGO Licensed
Great review as always Svelte! The conquistador armour is gorgeous, and Mutt is so much hotter as a minifig! We (ie. the Walrus and I) were very happy to find out the prices for the new Indy sets. For licenced sets, they're reasonably priced. We just hope the good prices hold out, what with Lego's recent trend of upping prices without warning... They're definitely a better deal than the Blockade Runner set...$280AUD...ouch!! -
It's awesome...so surreal. But then anything inspired by a Tim Burton film (especially his recent movies) has to be surreal. Whatever that guy's on, I want some.

REVIEW: Indiana Jones 7197 - Venice Canal Chase
Princess Muttonchops replied to Svelte's topic in LEGO Licensed
Brilliant review as always...I love the fezs (fezes?), and those compelling moustached faces! It's going to be hard to prioritise between this set and the mine cart chase set, they're both so cool... -
Did you have to do such a brilliant review Svelte? I wanted this set badly enough before, but now it's like "we've got to get this set man I mean walrus!" The stickers for the horses' eyes are a bit weird...I guess they offer a range of personalities, though they all seem to be verging on some form of insanity. The sound and motion is spectacular, watching the clip gave me flashbacks!
