Historic MOCs/Themes Inspired by Movies
Berry Syedow replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Yep, Forbidden Planet has aged pretty well, too. It's an acquired taste. ;-) (The funky light show goes on for far too long, however!) You might want to check this link out and then rewatch the 'Odyssey'. (It sums up what all the symbolism symbolizes.) -
I agree, that's another good use for the horn piece. A different color might be more convincing. Though it doesn't look like TLC has made the piece in any color other than red or white, yet.

It is? It doesn't exceed past the edge of the forum on my screen. Is there anyone else out there who thinks this pic is too big? Hmm, it does on mine. How strange. My dear? Deary? :-P

Just a heads up. TRU is having a sale on all LEGO Technic, Knights' Kingdom, Exo-Force, & Bionicle Sets. I myself am thinking of picking up a few Battle at the Passes. Link to the online site: http://www.toysrus.com/searchHandler/index...promoId=2502323 Happy Shopping!

I remember being blown away by the detail of this bust while surfing brickshelf... It's an impressive feat to be sure. My favorite parts are the jaw and the collarbone. This is also a rare instance where bley is the favorable color. *skull* I agree, that may prove to be better looking, and it'd be slightly more accurate.

Jiminy Crickets, that's a big picture! Yes, that idea is very original, he must have stole it from me. :-P Prefabricated log walls, my dear, 007. ;-) Yours is a favorite of mine, though. There

That islander MOC is stunning! (Quite lush from a distance.) But I agree with 007, that the library is a sheer spectacle to behold.

I seem to remember spotting a prototype of the skull and then seeing these newer images. Anyhow I kept thinking the skull had been altered somehow. (Maybe not?) Regardless of that, the skull is a well designed creation. The beads are a nice touch, too.

Here's an example of what a vignette should look like. ;-) Simple yet effective. Sir Dillon, I am confused as to why a grave marker would be present before the captain shot his crew member? (If it's a treasure marker then I could see how it might be a clever way to discourage treasure hunters from pillaging the captain's plunder.) Why didn't the captain bury the treasure by himself? Wouldn't the rest of the crew be suspicious when one of their lads doesn't show up? Good work. I've always been fond of this vig.

I like this MOC a lot. The use of log walls is very original. The little details throughout the ship are well thought out and nice additions to the ship. The abundance of brown makes the ship very visually appealing. (I feel warm and fuzzy for some reason. X-D) The stern and bow are also great. Where did this lad, Erik, run off to?

Flesh toned pirates could be useful as undead zombie pirates. >:-) A very original idea that has yet to be explored. (Where are the zombie MOCs, anyway? I caught a glance of one a few months ago...) What is so terrible about the current color palette? Haven't only the greys and brown been affected? (If not then I am worried.)

I did not meen in the Pirate Caribbean Movies I meen did pirates in real history sail from china to be in the Caribbean and commit the acts of piracy and such? Here's a link to an article about Asian Piracy. From what I gathered they didn't mention any Asian Pirates sailing to Caribbean, but that doesn't refute the claim. I have a few pirate books around here, which might contain some valuable information... Where is the almighty UltraLux? I haven't seen him around these parts lately.

This is curious indeed. Mr. Roger apparently uses wolf people as a type of mercenary that evolved from medieval times. I wonder if Lord Ravensburg would allow Castle and Pirates to intersect in his roleplaying game.

The first ever Phes Vigentte: The Pursuit
Berry Syedow replied to Mister Phes's topic in Pirate MOCs
Like the others have already said, it's a great concept that needs to be revisited. Why and how did the thief end up on the island? (Or will this be explained in later MOCs?) And when do you intend to unveil your latest creation? -
I'm sure that builder will be quite impressed if he ever finds his way to this thread! We must also bare in mind that every ship doesn't have to look accurate and sometimes builders should be granted the creative freedom to stretch reality. Alright, alright. *retracts naughty finger* Irregularly proportioned ship sides on pirate ships disgruntle me. Everything else is great. He just needed to widen that ship.

Yes it is, it might be the bottle from this set. Wow, I had no idea that piece existed. It would make a great addition to pirate sets, especially to change it up a little from the basic wine cup or rum barrel. It's annoying how little representation these elaborate pieces get in system themes. I suggested a similar plan back in this thread and it might be a good idea once the Pirate Fan-base is more established. Before we can commit to such a project we need a "standard".

Historic MOCs/Themes Inspired by Movies
Berry Syedow replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
That's one of my favorite childhood sets. *y* When movies do limit the scale of its universe and what is capable within its corridors, then I can agree with you. Completely open ended movie universes on the other hand can inspire so much. Star Wars, as an example, remains popular to this day because of its open endedness. Certain movies should only be discerned as entertaining fluff and nothing more. Such a movie that has already been mentioned in this thread is Star Gate. It had a few intriguing ideas, but those were stifled by a bad script and mediocre direction. In my opinion, most movies shouldn -
Wild West: Ghost Town Images "leaked" (UPDATED #3)
Berry Syedow replied to Brick Miner's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Ah, more excellent work. That's the best cactus I've ever laid my aged eyes on. Who has perturbed the cactus as to anger him so? And is that custom sticker or an official product? (If it's your work, then by all means take it as a compliment. ;-)) but you have entered the realm (aka thread ;-) ) of Ghost Town, escape is not that easy *skull* !!! :-D :-D :-D - BrickMiner I am not limited to my mortal self in the History forum! *Dissolves into the mist* Muhahahaha... -

Mr. Hook, you misquoted part o' me, but I'll forgive you... this time. ;-) Anyway, in this thread I already stated my likes and dislikes. From there both of you should be able to ascertain why I think this ship is superior. Basically, this ship is nicely designed, but its consistent, reasonable color scheme puts it over the other ship. And that's also why I prefer this ship's color scheme. It does what it meant to do, while the other one looks like it belongs in space. These are merely my opinions, excuse me if I made it sound like fact. I just prefer not to include IMO's and "I thinks" in my posts too often because they sound redundant. :-P
