Where to get NEW rubber tires for 60's through 80's trains?
Barduck replied to Rail Co's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Patrick, who is also a member of Eurobricks, sells them in his store: http://users.telenet.be/Patricks-legotreinensite/treinbandjes.htm Maybe you could contact him to get some http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showuser=999 -

UP 44 Seat Coach by Barduck12, on Flickr Seats based on a design by Garethjellis (http://www.eurobrick...72#entry2005069) This is the first one finished, second one is well on it's way, only like 20 bricks missing. When finished I'll allready have 6 coaches finished to put behind my Big Boy
-
the instructions are included in the booklet of the set

nice to hear you find my solutions good

Actually, this should be read as: My Own Copy. Some time ago I found this model by Michael Gale in his Flickr account: https://www.flickr.c...le/11256437495/ There is only problem with it, the dark green parts are non excisting so if I wanted to build something like it I would have to take another color. I went for red and am planning to build it in yellow aswell. There's some things that I couldn't figure out how he did it from only one render so I had to find my own solutions to try and build it as close I could to his design, which is, really beautifull, hence the reason to copy it. 80 ton Covered Hopper Wagon by Barduck12, on Flickr

there's 4 Large PF's motors in the boiler.

Finally made a vid of her running, and a close up of the running gear. Keep in mind that the batteries were almost dead so she's rather slow but I didn'nt want to wait a whole day again while the batteries charge. https://www.flickr.c...07/14925356925/ https://www.flickr.c...07/14925364645/

I'd say more like 6 studs extra in length. At the moment she looks cramped imho
-
Don't forget, it's easier for the LEGO compagny to do something with this than it is for us. All they have to do is change color of the battery blok and use it as a part of the body

I'm hoping for a nice big German steamer, like they use to make in the old days (4,5-12v era), possibly with some coal hoppers or something similar with it
-
well, I've changed the position of the top grab iron on all coaches that have them, just need to change it in the instructions aswell now
-
The double convex are also present on the bogies of the other cars, I like the look it creates so I'm not going to change those. The problem is, there should be a gap in between the steps, using brackets won't give me that. The "best" solution would actually be to go even more on the non purist tour (like with painting the other brackets) and remove the middle step of the ladder, creating a bigger gap in between. As for the grab iron, I've had time to recheck, and yes they should have a plate more space in between. But I'm not sure atm if I'm going to correct it, I'd have to do that on the other cars aswell then.
-
maybe, but I didn'nt have any around but losts of the others
-
I'll need to have another look at the pictures of the model to make sure about the grab iron. As for the plate with ladder, yeah I know it's supposed to be only 2 steps and I could do the snot you suggested, only problem with that is that it would make the bogies wider and they are allready wider than the coach
-
they don't exist in dark grey so I had to paint them. It's a bit darker than it should be but since it's underneath it's harder to notice the difference in color then when they were in their original color

The latest coach that's been added to the Union Pacific yard (I'm at 4 so far): The bogies have "floating middle axles to make taking turns possible (and switches offcourse): UP Luggage Coach by Barduck12, on Flickr As before, instructions will be on my bricklink in the next few days: http://www.bricklink...e.asp?p=Barduck

there's just one thing I don't get. What's the connection between a Exo Suit and a freaking turtle?

FBBF-BFBF-FBBF maybe this picture from Tony Sava's Texas Pacific will answer the question: TexasPacific610_20 by SavaTheAggie, on Flickr

sweet, I've allready responded

going to be a long train once I've got the 6 cars done. I've allready changed the bigboy I've got to have 4 XL motors instead of medium ones, at 3 cars she's pulling it easy enough though i'm more worried about the magnets not wanting to handle it. If need be I can offcourse always put my SD60 behind to help push
-
She takes curves and switches with no problems
-
Honestly, I don't know, haven't checked but it's a lot.

Next one of the coaches is finished, this time I've done the diner coach. Sadly enough I didn'nt do interior due to lack of interior pictures. I don't want to just put something in that isn'nt at least a bit accurate. Should anyone have pictures of interiors of any of the coaches I've done so far, let me know. UP Diner coach #6956 by Barduck12, on Flickr As before, instructions will be available on my bricklink soon, just need to recheck everything before I put them in (http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=Barduck)
