  1. :-D i think 007 knows me very well... i don't like mixing the "replacement colors" into traditional themes.- BM
  2. the color scheme is what really works !!! and this does have a very "system" feel, i bet it blends in nicely with your city. glad to see the digital background too. adding the dirt buffer zone between the skyline and the gravel works well... the only thing that stands out a little is the drastic lighting on the MOC... especially towards the back of the station. i know taking photos that are suitable for digital editing is difficult, and overall the presentation is excellent. thanks for sharing, alex. id always like to see more from you ;-) - BM
  3. the indiana jones theme maybe giving us some more outfits to work with... hopefully there will be more from that line. - BM
  4. hmm... interesting. i haven't come across any weights problems, etc. yet. maybe my style is too simple (or at least rooted to a baseplate) to ever come across stuff like that. however, i do always make sure to use plenty of overlapping techniques, so that i rarely run into structural issues, once built in real life... enough overlapping is something easily missed in the digital world.- BM
  5. the real problem here is that you said you would pay for the other one, am i reading that right ??? so now you've gotten two castles that you don't want and had to pay for one. yikes !!! also my reply in this thread seems semi-relevant to your issue... http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...ndpost&p=229880 - BM
  6. i know when i receive LEGOs as presents it's hard, because it's always a surprise (i never ask for LEGOs as gifts), and it's never exactly the sets i want... so i take them, am happy, and content with them for at least the parts. however, another problem comes when my GF gives buys me sets... then i feel obligated to keep the sets whole (and not break them up), because she wants to see that i liked what she got me, and that i didn't just part it out to sell on BL :-$ :-D that's when it's tough for me - BM
  7. i have never had this problem, because everytime i start a new project i go straight to MLCad and then to BL. anymore, i never just sit down with a bunch of loose pieces and build... it's kinda sad, but cheaper and more effective. - BM
  8. undoubtable the best decade was the 90's... adventurers, islanders, and of course wild west... the sets really started to get some personality in the 90's. however, i think the best single year is 2007 (too bad the rest of the 2000's sucked ;-) ). - BM
  9. the only ghost town i've been to is jerome in AZ... it's really a strange town because it's built right in the side of a mountain, and you have to drive up a bunch of loops and curves to get there. i dug out a couple post cards i picked up, one is very cool and shows off the town hotel/saloon. currently, the town has experienced a second life, and is a thriving art community... so it's no longer a ghost town, but still has the ghost town history and the city promotes the tourism ;-) - BM
  10. i was one of the people who really liked the original... i liked the mod architectural style, and felt it had a lot of personality, it just needed to come off of it's raised baseplate. however, i think you did it justice in this MOC. i love the top of the helipad and how it accesses the upper level of the hospital, and also how the ambulance path goes under it. i also like how each room was thought about and therefore each has a distinct purpose. though, im having trouble with the bottom of the helipad, im not sure if it is sitting on snow (because there is a plant growing out of it) or if the structure is irregular in shape... to me, it doesn't seem like it should be irregular. also the fading of the white bricks take away from the presentation. it's too bad those old white and blue pieces faded over time. it makes me wonder what might happen to the colors im buying now :'-( all-in-all, it does look very nice... i also like the big red cross symbol, it reminds me of the 2008 police station's "police" sign. it's also very impressive how it is built completely on a curved baseplate, that gives it a lot of appeal - BM
  11. i thought we had determined that distribution and LEGO's illogical supply chain were the cause of it's financial troubles in the years you spoke of ??? as least that was the official word from LEGO - which also induced the color changes of the grays and brown. though, i do agree with the point that a well developed concept is the key to a successful product line. but i also think LEGO took a great deal of time developing the high concept theme of KK, which i think most consider a flop. so i don't know if labeling LEGOs failure on poorly developed themes (due to diverted interest) is accurate. - BM
  12. i'm looking for a way to do this "systemly" though. the 9V and RC track was not designed to be anything but flat, and i respect the design of LEGO elements, for what they are. inclines would be the only thing that would really get me super interested in the new track over the old. well, that and a way to connect curved rails to a baseplate without having to build a bed for the tracks. that is to say, curved tracks right to the baseplate... just as can be done with straight rails, and as seen in official sets. - BM
  13. do you guys think "new track geometries" possible includes inclines for elevated to ground level passenger trains ??? if so, this could be the selling point for me. - BM
  14. hmmm... i'll have to see if i can work that into a traditional system building style. i bet if you put a 1/2 technic pin between the two meeting points, it would really make it stable. thanks for sharing !!! you know, you having something there... cell phones are a staple in modern life. im surprised LEGO hasn't caught on.- BM
  15. he parted-out 4 sets on BL... hinckely, maybe you can tell me how you get your auctions up to 60 USD, when other ebay sellers are selling the same item for as low as 25 bucks (and even feature buy-it-now option) *wacko* this is a confusing world we live in X-D oh, and i think your BL prices are a little high - will you reduce them once this set is more widely available ??? aka, is this just the "advanced copy" price. - BM
  16. joey, you might want to check out the discussion going on here... http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...showtopic=12662 - BM
  17. wow, that's a tough one glyman... id say take the precautions 6studs recommended. this made me instantly log into my paypal account just too see if i had any trouble - nothing there for me. good luck and keep us updated - BM
  18. i see that you found at least 4 more >:-)
  19. ya, because he is wearing a tie, he's obviously a foreman or someone more than just your average grunt worker. having a character like this adds a lot of potential for scene building via visual cues. and although it wasn't my original point, those eyes are gental and sad, i like that face too :-D - BM
  20. don't get me wrong i like generic fig in the city theme. what i don't like is that LEGO uses the same torso for different occupations - the medium blue mechanic shirt is also the dock worker torso, and the construction worker jacket is also the sanitation worker torso. i would think each occupation deserves its own design.one of my favorite torsos is this guy's... it's a slight spin on the standard construction worker torso, but it adds a lot of depth. i would like to see this variation in the minifig packs - then i could see a purpose for them. - BM
  21. ok, i can buy that...also, if you sold both you may have saturated the market... just a little. you'll probably end up make a little more on one set, than half of two sets. still, though, this is really making me eager to part out of few of these on BL 8-
  22. holy smokes... 50 bucks. i bet you do feel stupid for openning one of them. damn, could have been an easy 80+ dollars. but who would have known. congrats ;-) BM
  23. gottcha... i knew you weren't dumb :-P
  24. hinckley, why didn't you buy up 20-30 of this set an part them out on BL ??? with this early find, you could have jacked-up the prices and make a killin' !!! i would think you could have gotten 4-6 dollars per fig, 1-2 dollars on the purse, and 3-4 dollars on the bikes alone. not to mention the crates, 0.50-1 and the other accessories. double, triple your money ??? why :'-( ??? i would have bought at least 4 purses ;-) - BM
