-
wow alex !!! this set is one of my favorite (in its original state ;-) ) city sets... probably my most favorite. but i love the 6 wide version too !!! im really impressed by this - great job !!! - BM

im actually building an MOC to explain where this mysterious substance comes from - and what place it has in LEGO city.
-
i would like to add, that if you recreate an MOC that isn't yours, you should contact the originator before hand, or at the least, after... because if he/she stumbles upon it by accident, it might be quite shocking/worrisome for him/her at first - even if you've given credit. communication is always the best... that way, the builder can ask any questions of you, if he has any, and vice versa. if it were me, i wouldn't use anyone

:-D thanks P :-)

:-D though, i see not many others share my idiosyncrasy.

that was very funny brickster... your humor is really showing (not that you didn't have it before - your just being really silly lately ;-) ). is it possible hinckely is bringing it out of you ??? and i like to discuss concepts for months. - BM

well, i don't mean story like, "he woke up, got some breakfast, then went to work and found a carotcake on his desk."i mean that i can't place this character. with LEGO MOCing a lot of "story" is told visually. i really liked your first post-apoc MOC that you posted here on EB (the war ship), i thought it was developed very well, visually. the story was clear, and the world you created with the visual cues was very vivid. the characters "spoke" to me, and told me there story. this MOC looks complex in that it isn't just a car, or a house. there is obviously some concept behind it. its like there is a lot of story there, but i just can't quite read it... i thought maybe you could elaborate. for example, i don't think the visual cues are clear enough for me to determine if he is a mutant rabit/human... or a guy in a rabit suit - as an example. in other words, i think it needs some more developing, but has a lot of potential ;-) - BM

im not sure i quite get it ??? whats the story behind the steam punk rabbit ???

wow, i love how organized the whole display is. that is one quality that i often find lacking from larger displays - which is understandable, im sure its easy to get carried away :-D but i have to say, this might be one of my favorite "larger" dispalys, and im not even much of a castle fan. along side the organized feel, every element seems to have a distinct purpose in the kingdom. i could imagine arriving at the harbor and making my way through town. it just has a very "complete" feeling to it - not a hodgepodge of differenet builders coming together for one dispaly. this looks like the work of a single artist, realizing one vision. which is why i think it comes off as a work of art, rather than a fan-produced piece. only thing i don't like is the mixing of yellow and flesh tones... it doesn't seem to have a pupose. - BM

i could... it will probably be late tonight though. i'll see what i can do.

there is an article in the new LEGO magazine that interviews one of the set designers. by the sound of it they had plenty of material to research from - archives and such. - BM

i agree with piranha too. i interpret his meaning to be no "political war themes." fantasy war and violence doesn't seem to hold the same taboo that politics do. as for a new theme. i still want a city sub-theme of industry with two opposing forces. one the eco-friendly fighters - and the second, the polluting factory workers and corporate "big men." much like the kids cartoon captain planet. - BM

Best ways to prevent sets getting dusty
Brick Miner replied to Nonpoint Fan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
this is a good topic, as my MOCs sit like scuptures all over my house, only to collect dust. as it is, i wash my display models every 6 months. apo, im surprised the brush works... maybe i will try that, but i think im looking for a more thorough cleaning. perhaps the best method is prevention. i'd love to try that reverse ventilation system or the allergy remedies machine suvie mentioned. i wonder if that is the same thing as an air purifier. i have one of those, but i only use it during the fall, when allergies are the worse here in the states. - BM -
thanks for sharing... i like looking at users city layouts - it's fun to see what we do. the subject matter of yours makes this a very unique display. i really like the pine tree made from the palm leaves. definitely keep a running update on this thread. i'd like to see the prgress. - BM

i'll close this then.

i see my triple punctuation is really catching on !!! <== *sweet*-------------------------------------------------- now, i just have to get a few of you using my dash line (which is always 50 segments, BTW ;-) ) - BM

good point B... this design is just too foreign to my eyes for me to enjoy... i don't like either of these sets, very disapointing - the postal theme has so much potential. i don't really like the torsos either - too plain/cheap as kanal suggested. and i will agree that the wheels on the van look cheap. i was sooooo impressed with city 2007, this is a real let down.though, i am happy to see a small set with a postal box. so, even though, all that aside, i'll probably buy 6 of the van - just for the yellow mudgards, postal box and stickers to populate my city. and i think this set will provide some excellent piece to MOC a yellow civillian convertable with *sweet* - BM

my girlfriend was in Washington DC when creation nation was hosting a kids event there... they were building a giant map of the states, and she got to build part of the section of St. Louis - where we live. i thought that was pretty cool. - BM
