Thanks for all the great comments! In regards to the sails, many Triremes had colourful sails. Just depends how much dye was on hand I guess . However I agree that maybe the back sail good be larger, or alternatively, the front sail good be smaller. Especially seeing the link 'Sirens-Of-Titan' provided. Now it's interesting that 'Skipper' said that the eyes look like Grumpy Sparrows. I had the same feeling in the back of my head. I love the link you provided, I wish I knew that this MOC was there whilst building the ship.

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
______ replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
No, TLC did say that, it was in response to an email I sent to them questioning the future of LEGO Pirates, alas I have not saved the email, but they definitely said in it "There will always be some pirates sets on the shelves". So at least we can remain hopeful of SOMETHING -
[pid][/pid] 130B During Christmas I decided (finally) that my Series 2 Spartans needed something, not having any of those new column pieces a Temple was out of the question, instead I tried something new, a rather unusual thing to make from LEGO, a Trireme. These were used during the 5th Century BC by Spartans during the Greco-Persian wars. Mine is based off a real replica off one (loosely) called Olympias. I think my favourite thing about this ship is the fact that very few people have replicated a Trireme in LEGO, It makes me feel unique So here it is. The ram at the front is used to smash into other ships and hopefully make a hole in the hull. Triremes usually had eyes painted on the bow. This ship has 60 Minifigs to row it, they range from Darth Vader to Father Christmas. The back section of the ship uses a viking hull, the shape was perfect for the back, though I needed to add a bit extra to the sides using a bit of sloping and SNOT in order to cover up a big gap. This is my favourite shot of the ship, probably because it's the only semi-clear one I have I hope you enjoyed seeing my slightly unconventional LEGO ship, Comments and Criticism are welcome

I hate....! Share your building annoyances here...

Colour sorting bricks is so annoying. I took days doing it last time when none of it was colour sorted, and still have tonnes more to do... In regard to instructions, I hate mixing up dark grey with black, I can't tell them apart in the booklets -
I think that the ork forge will be the battleback set. 3 orks and 1 Uruk-hai Similar to the first clone wars battleback of 3 clones and a commander.

I think this theme has potential to stay at least as long as the Indy sets. Kids will buy them, I know many TFOLs,AFOLs and LOTR fans will buy them as well! Also the Hobbit film is split into two separate films, thus two years for sets to come out.
-
What type of ship is it? An 18th century ship or a more modern one? For the latter I would take a look at the Maersk ship.
-
I concur, small ships are great fun! Fun to build as well
-
These sets come out in June/May, the Hobbit film comes out in December, therefore we will see the Hobbit sets in December or January I think.

The Mines Of Moria is a must have for me! It looks so fantastc! I am also really happy with the design of Helms Deep, less BURP's more actual pieces. I did not like the horses at first, but it seems that LEGO is keeping both types of horses, therefore when we can finally make the battle of Pelenor Fields we won't just have boring horses. It is going to take a long time to gather up the money to buy all these sets

I think that nearly everytime we see LEGO girls, they have boring sets and jobs. The Space Girl (EDIT: Cave-Woman ) in the new CMF is the closest we have got to a LEGO girl actually having something cool as a job. Seriously, if LEGO gave girls a cool theme, like a space theme, I know many girls (and boys) that would buy those sets. Pink space would be awesome. I am just bored of girls sets being too girly, i.e. pink, bracelets, dolls... I can see why some people are so offended by this.

I love some licensed themes, yet I would rather they stay separate to the other sets, i.e. they are there, you do not have to buy them. But when they interfere with normal LEGO themes (POTC with Pirates, LOTR inevitably with Castle) I get slightly annoyed, Some Pirates fans admire the new pieces which POTC brought to Pirates, but in the end of the day we also want LEGO to produce their own Pirates sets, original ships, redcoats and the like. Licensed sets are very expensive, (More so in the last couple of years) so if we had no interference, such as a Pirates theme at the same time as POTC then die-hard fans could buy POTC but general fans of a certain theme could buy LEGO's official sets, which would not have the licensed theme tax added on. However I suppose the interference forces Castle or Pirates fans to buy licensed themes just to get these good pieces, if we did have two themes at the same time one might get a lot less sales than the other, so it wouldn't work out anyway. Well, TLC knows what sells, they are a "For-profit" business.

Wow, that alien looks fantastic, as does the monorail! Shame that these were not made :(

This MOC has made my week. All the lovely little details are there, I especially love how you made the movie poster as well

LEGO's own version of Brickshelf? It sounds pretty cool and after some inspection I think I'll end up joining!

Now that is interesting. There is so many sets that LEGO did not make that would be good for a second line. Hopefully now we'll see a UCS Black pearl or flying Dutchman. -
I was told in an email a couple 'o months ago that we will always have some pirate sets on our shelves.(This email was from Lego) However I think that if we do see any new POTC sets then it will coincide with a new theme. I don't think we will see a UCS Flying Dutchman, many people would want it, but you'd have to be a TFOL or AFOL to actually buy it! I hope I am wrong As much as I liked the POTC theme I would love some new Pirates sets. Small ships like the Caribbean Clipper would be awesome.

weirdest place you've found random LEGO?
______ replied to slovakiasteph's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I went to the beach once and near this bin (I don't think any LEGO was in the bin) was some classic pirate muskets and various hinge bricks, overall it was 5 bricks! I was confused yet happy at the same time because back then I actually had no muskets! -
My dog likes to step on my LEGO if I'm building on the floor, she seems very interested. She never chews it, thankfully. My last dog did chew one or two expendable bricks. The simple thing to do I would imagine is simply keep LEGO out of reach from your dog

Has anyone mentioned Megafactories:Lego yet? It was really good and we got to see inside the various factories and the process of how LEGO sets are actually made!
-
I am rather good at painting models, I collect orks from GW. However they are so expensive that I hardly ever get any, usually once a year there is a fair thing that sells the models pretty cheap so that is when I tend to buy them.
-
That ship is a really nice looking MOC, I especially love the engines using tank treads, genius! The only improvement I can think of is to give the wings more of an angle if you know what I mean, using hinge bricks to angle them down or up. Like the CW Anakin's Starfighter.
-
Ooh, I really like this ship. I really like how it has a full interior! Also the colour-scheme looks awesome, finally I am glad that you didn't make it studless, I like it when creations have studs. The onlt thing I can see is that maybe it has too many crew for it's size.

The arms and the fact that I paid no attention to his back are my main problems.
