Ebay fails me... And how to trust Bricklink?
Capt. Redblade replied to Artifex's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I haven't been using Bricklink for too long, but as far as honest sellers and complete sets go, I am 10 for 10 so far. Pay attention to the seller's user feedback and if possible, email beforehand and ask if they can send further pictures of the prospective set to make sure it's a) what you're looking for and b) all there. As far as I know, most sellers don't have a problem with that. -
General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Capt. Redblade replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
If this is an new theme, I think I can see the waterwheel in our near future. Jack looks amazing. They'll probably do a new arm mold just for him. It's happened before, and it can happen again. -
Action Themes and You
Capt. Redblade replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I like Action Themes because, when I was a kid, they catered to my fantasy. Kids love to pretend, and most male children like to pretend that they're spies or treasure hunters and the like. Action themes allow us to act out those fantasies in such a way that, when we get bored with one fantasy, we can take it apart and turn it into another. -
A wonderful set. I picked it up yesterday at a shop in Chilliwack and found, to my surprise, an extra shark and a second chest filled with uncut rubies and emeralds (well, trans-red and trans-green studs, but you get the picture). 'Twas a pleasant surprise, indeed!

I'm still hoping Indy will make a comeback...

I am quite happy with my set/user number: 6242 Soldier's Fort. A hell of a set, if I do say so myself. http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=6242-1

Definitely the Messerschmit.

Review: 5934 Dino Explorer
Capt. Redblade replied to ZO6's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
You, sir, are a reviewing machine! Stop before I buy every set you review! -
Screw that! I want to see B:TAS sets! Let's see Poison Ivy's Greenhouse from "Pretty Poison", Rupert Thorne's Hideout with a Harvey Dent fig with a double-sided face (one face Harvey, the other Two-Face) from "Two-Face: Part II". I'd love to see the Riddler's labyrinth from "If You're So Smart Why Aren't You Rich?"!

Funny you should say that, because Sean Connery WAS Malone about 20 years ago. "You've just fulfilled the first rule of law enforcement. At the end of the day, make sure you go home alive. Thus endeth the lesson." (I might be paraphrasing. I've only seen the film once and it was pretty difficult to hear at that part.)

Did anybody else notice the engraved shield that says "James Potter Seeker" behind the suit of armour? It's details like that that scream "want".

Is the hat worn by the orange-bearded figure with epaulettes a custom?

Mmmm... Dark chocolate... *drools*

Hmmm... Dark green and gold colour scheme, dragon statuettes, dragon shields, there could be some Blackadder MOCs here...

Does Space Police III promote racism and xenophobia?
Capt. Redblade replied to Sonic Screwdriver's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
It's just a case of people being too sensitive about man-on-man violence and being too thickheaded and scared to see the irony in the fact that they themselves are pushing for toys where the good guys beat up creatures that are different. There should be a special holiday where every person in the world teams up with their most hated rival and fish-slaps at least three PC thugs to death. -
[Comic] Unlikely Society -- Chapter 25
Capt. Redblade replied to Joebot's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
If Anenome, or "the telepath", as the Benefactor calls her is the only one who can defeat the Benefactor, this reinforces my belief from way way back that the Benefactor is, is fact, Apathy Boy from the original Unlikely Society... There are two unbreakable rules of comicdom that support my theory: Rule 1: When a mysterious villain is mentioned at least two issues before his formal introduction, his identity will be revealed at some point. Rule 2: When said villain's identity is revealed, he or she must always be a character of note from the past. (Example: Red Hood=Jason Todd, Hush=Thomas Elliot) -
I'm surprised nobody else has thought of this so far, but kettle helmets mean one can finally re-enact the Black Knight scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. "Alright. We'll call it a draw."

Re: The shark portal Did anyone else notice the old-style skeleton in the Aqua Raiders helmet? Is it an omen, or does it explain why they disappeared so suddenly?

When are these to be released? Comes with two angry villagers and a rotten fruit stand.

Indiana Jones theme discussion & speculations
Capt. Redblade replied to Zzz's topic in LEGO Licensed
Signed. -
At some point I think you should return to the 918 storyline, KDog. The time travel is all well and good, but I want to see more of Ghost-Dash and the twins.

Uh-oh...

Indiana Jones theme discussion & speculations
Capt. Redblade replied to Zzz's topic in LEGO Licensed
I don't mean to start an argument, I was simply listing that as an example of the violence in the Indiana Jones movies and which is thus inherent in the Indy toy line. -
Indiana Jones theme discussion & speculations
Capt. Redblade replied to Zzz's topic in LEGO Licensed
If Lego does indeed have a no-violence policy, I think it was shown the door long ago. These days, you can't sell a toy to Lego's target group if it doesn't have opposing factions, guns, swords, action features, etc. The evidence against this policy is quite strong: Pirates, Wild West, Agents, Batman, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and just about every medieval theme since the early 1980s. Indiana Jones already has three clearly German wartime planes (the first of which cuts a large Nazi in half at one point), a sword-fight in a Russian camp, a sword-wielding Egyptian maniac who is shot dead in cold blood, a Soviet thug with an Uzi (who is eaten alive by big freaking ants, I might add), multiple vehicles with mounted machine guns, a minecart race against a couple of sadistic Thuggee cultists who strap people into metal cages and lower them into boiling lava for fun, etc. I see no reason why we cannot have an enormous, fully-armed tank manned by a full crew of Nazi soldiers. -
