To open or not to open...

Well, if the second hand prices are high then you may as well appreciate it now as new as you could still sell it at a later date and get a decent price for it. I'd open it. -

I know this is rather off-topic but I'd just like to thank those of you who have very cleverly designed some compact gear function backpacks and posted them on this thread. I'm in the process of using the different designs to give functions to my Chima Ultrabuilds who just seem (for what exact reason I don't know) like they need functions. Thanks again! Back on topic, I don't mind if the masks are flippy-up ones, although I see where some of you are coming from when you say that the MOCing potential will be lowered. The 'o' mouths aren't too bad either. The 'o' mouth seems to suit Kopaka's helmet design nicely as he has a fair amount of circular thingies on his right hand side of his helmet. Even if the name BIONICLE has no significance towards the younger 'newer' audience, they should see them as 'cool action figures' and buy them anyways. The added functions of the sets will help too I think- it makes them a lot more exciting. The packaging will fulfill its role well too to make them stand out on the shelves- a dude lava surfboarding is pretty cool and striking in comparison to some of the CITY box arts, so I think that there should be no problem with the theme becoming popular with the new young audience. Also parents could be useful in promoting the sets to their children. If their child had an older brother/sister who was into Bionicle for years then the name might have stuck in the parent's brain and when they see them in store they might think of the substantial size and the fun their older child had with the original Bionicle and then buy the new ones for their younger child, thus drawing the younger childs attention to it. Or something like that.

I like the idea behind that comic maker. It seems more creative that way and there is more hands on involvement with the creating. It's nice to see that it's not completely computer and screen watching orientated. Although more variation in the drawings and if they were colour-in-able would have been nicer. And just some blank boxes for people to draw their own stuff, with some brief step by step guides on 'how to draw a...' 'hero' 'beast' 'machine' etc.

You may say the build is nothing special, maybe not in technique, but it certainly is special in appearance- very effective, very good! I love the look, its very clever.

Well if the organisation and a huge collection is a problem, why not randomly select a large chunk of it all and then donate it to a charity or a childrens hospital or something like that. The organize what's left, keep the minfigures and some parts and either store the rest or sell it/donate it over time. I got rid of my collection some time in the past, and although now I think ' I liked that set, its a shame I still don't have it ' I don't feel bad about it as I've successfully amassed a new collection and the old one benefited a charity.

I agree with most of what TheGreatSpirit says, bar for one thing- this thing IS perfect! The mixel eyes and so much character to the model on the whole and goes really well with the interesting parts and designs used. ,

You could just box them up and put them in your garage/attic, which would be cheap and out of the way, and also meaning you wouldn't have to get rid of them. If you have a brickset account then all your sets have been listed and so you could just use instructions online.

I am certainly looking forward to long lasting, building/playing resistant Bionicle sets.

I don't think he looks too goofy. I quite like the clever use of the torso enhancer piece as his 'face'. I can see what you mean though in part... Hrm. I don't think it'll be olive. It just wouldn't seem right alongside all the other brighter things, although they do look too muted to be lime green. Maybe you are right.

They could do. If BIONICLE is likely to overshadow other themes they might want to keep it secret from the wider public and bide their time. For one it would build up the expectation/anticipation in the AFOL community/the community in the know and so more people would rush to buy them when finally released. Secondly it gives them time to exhaust all the remaining HF stock before attention is lost completely to BIONICLE. And lastly, if they don't advertise it too much and release it after all the other (less popular) themes, it means that the people unaware of its return will spend their money on other themes first instead of saving all their funds for BIONICLE sets; thus meaning when they eventually come out on sale they'll want to buy them despite the fact they've spent a lot already- increasing sales for LEGO. EDIT- that first point is actually a pretty poor argument actually. I realize that now I've said it, hee hee. I think most AFOLs who like BIONICLE will rush to buy them whenever they get released.

At what point does Lego become valuable enough ...

Well, they'll be using the same parts so I'm not too bothered about the *'loss'* of HF as I'll still be able to use all the same parts as before. I also welcome the opportunity for newer parts and more organic looking parts. But I'm kinda sad that the IFB line has ended. I'd have liked more beasts... *I prefer to think of it as a period of 'hibernation', it'd be nice if HF could still exists and return at some point*

Slightly irritating that LEGO insists on doing re-makes and clones of sets that really don't need to be remade so soon. However there are a few interesting sounding sets there. I'm most interested in the Balloon- hopefully it'll have new hot air balloon parts that'll be used in other themes later on! The pizzeria and rabbit sets could be good, as could the lighthouse and the house. One thing I've noticed about that set list though- there's one number missing! It changes from '41095 - Emma's Family Home' straight to '41097 - Heartlake Balloon'. Where's 41096?? Or is the balloon meant to be 41096 and the '7' key was hit accidentally??

I certainly hope not! That would be rather useless for me and annoying...although I doubt it will be that...it can't be that!

Well I threw together (badly!) on 'Paint' some Exo-Elves (!?). Although Im clueless how to put them on here, I can provide links to the pics.
