  1. WOW!! That is exellent! Very simple and to the point. Great simple details. I like the fenders for trailer wheels. I'd love to see how you'd make an enclosed trailer. That mightbe one ofmy next projects.
  2. Thank you! At this time i have no plans of taking it apart, but my next project i do plan on making a Camper very simular to the mobile command trailer. Stay tuned!
  3. Yop, pretty much. This is the final episodes, and at this point i think your right that there running low on there budget and are doing what they can with what they have. Its a shame too. Cause i thought the series was doing very well up intill the last few episodes. I don't care for all these "dreams" that Sara is having. Its boring. Thing is we don't have to have a bunch of 101's running around for it to be interesting. Cameron's fight scences with Chromarty were great. The series is starting to turn into an hour long Doctor Phil session.
  4. I agree. Media has never played a part in any toys i owned as a kid, currently own, or plan to buy in the future. Design is wat has always sold me. This is probbly why the movie bots are some of my favorites. While i agree that seeing more bots and less humans would have made the movie better, i really don't see people gripe with all the human presence in the Movie. Espeacailly when you consider a few things. I think the main thing that prevented more bot presence in the movie was budget. Both bay, as well as Dreamwork said that this was a learning experiance as far as designs and animation. They used up as nearly all the computer power with the animation that was in the first movie, as well as movie budget. (animation took the majority). I've heard arguments of "They should have used less well known actors to increase the animation budget", but i don't think that would have helped. Other than Jon Voit and Tyresse, the other actors weren't really all that popular. TF was Megan Fox's first real movie, Shia only real movie before this was Disturbia. I aslo fell the relationship between sam and the autobots was nessasary to tell the full story, as well as show bumble bee's compasion with humans. Ya, the decepticon could have had more time and character development. No argument there. But again, it was a learning experiance. Also concerning other TF series, i don't think its fair to compare them to the movie. Its a lot easier to make the story more about the bots when both the humans and bots are all animated. In the case of the movie, all the bots are animated whitch contributes to most of the budget. In G1, TF Animated, or Beast wars, everything is animated from the bots, to the humans, to scenery. So the stroy could easily made more about the bots and their war. I really think that Bay and his writers learned alot from the first movie and previews for ROTF are showing that. I'll agree that on screen transformations were done more for "wow" factor than consistancy, but i don't fell they were that far off. As far as using the Alternator designs or simular, i think that would have been a big mistake. To blocky and basic. Like G1. The movie designs have alot more diversity and detail that i think alot of people expect from a movie like this. When it comes to CGI animation, people demand the best, and bots based on the alternator lines would have looked sub par on the big screen. Well you have to remember what your going to see. Its a movie about transforming alien robots. Most people would rather see fighting and expolsions, rather than dotor Phil interviewing Optimus Prime about his feelings. Its an action movie. Its meant to be fun.
  5. I'm, the opisite of you. When it comes to trucks, american is the only way to go! Actually, it kinda is a big pickup. The Topkick is basicly a heavy duty pickup truck. The refer to them as "Medium duty trucks". There kinda in between a full size pickup, and a semi truck. They can be fitted with either a standard pickup truck bed, flat bed, or various tow beds. Thanks to everyone for there nice coments. If anyone is close to the Arden Fair Mall Lego store in Sacramento Ca.,my Mobile Command Trailer is being featured in the comunity window! It will be there for the next 4 weeks or so.
  6. Very cool! I like all the storage compartments.
  7. Yes i did. They let in light, but still give some privacy!
  8. Thats really cool! I like it! The stair design is really cool. Looks just like the real thing!
  9. Well a couple reasons... 1.- Many people (parents) don't always have the extra money that lego warants. MB and other clone brands are an average of 15 to 20% cheaper with the same brick count as simular lego sets. 2.- Many clone brands (mainly Mega Blocks) get liecence that lego doesn't have, Theme's like Pirates of the Caribean, Catapillar tractors, or thier newest, Halo. Or they do themes that lego won't do at present time such as military type themes. While the quality and building experiance isn't always up to Lego standards, these reasons alone help to keep the clone brands competitive.
  10. Sorry, but i feel your being a bit contradictive. Especially when you consider that this year one of the Agent sets is going to be a helicopter very simular to the Dino attack Helicopter. There are many Agent sets that are very simular to the Dino line. If you feel that lego shouldn't be making "realistic" style military sets, then you should include Indiana Jones. Those sets should have been on your worst themes list also.
  11. Thank you! A motorhome is actually going to be my next project. I'm think of making a toy hauler 5th wheel. Your correct. Most of the stickers are from LEGO mobile command center, and the rest are from the 7741 police hellicopter. http://city.lego.com/en-us/Products/Police/7741.aspx I bought the hellocopter a year or so ago, and the sticker sheet was perfect for the truck!
  12. Wow! This is exellent! Very creative use of parts! Its a shame the wheels don't turn, but other than that its flawless! Very impressive!
  13. I like it! i would sugjest some kind of mining tool on the front. Take the forks of the shovel, remove the shovel and attach some kind of spinning blade. Kind of like the one in the crystal sweeper.
  14. How about a technic month? Or Racers month? We could have the bulldozer, or off roader tearing up some hills, or a Ferrari riping through a race track with a mini fig waving a checkered flag!
  15. Thats not really a fair comparision. Star Wars has a much, much larger fan base than Avatar probbly ever will. But thats not to say that there wouldn't be a posibility of new avatar sets. If theres enough interest and lego feels its profitable, then it could posibility be revamped.

    Pet Peeves

Problem, is (and this is addressed to know one in paticular) many people that claim to have spelling and gramar pet peeves, have used impropper spelling and grammar themselfs. It happens to everyone at one point or another. Mine are.. -People that mean mug (stare you down) -Falsely accusing me/friends/family of lieing -People that get all bent out of shape for saying "Legos" legos, legos, legos, legosssssssss!! -Loud eating And biggest one.. -people that touch my car radio without asking. This includes making a phone call and turning down the volume. Doing this will result in instant ejection from my vehicle.
  17. Those are exhaust stacks. And some larger tow trucks do have them. I would sugjest extending the boom arm in the back so that it reaches to the back of the truck. Also,i would add some tools like a shovel, broom, some wrenches and such. Other than that looks like your off to a good start.
  18. I'm really liking ROTF Rampage in bot mode.. Very animal like and looks meancing! Just like what the decepticons should look. I know many arent fans of "Bayformers", but i have to say i like'e, Its nice that thier thinking out side the box on alot of these designs. Pic of his vehicle mode..
  19. Can't argue with you there. It ispreety much the same thing every episode. But even so,... I still enjoy it!
  20. Ha ha! Actually, i'd have to say it would take more skill to pilot a podracer than a nascar. I love it when people try to argue with me that its one of the most "advanced form of racing there is". I ussualy just smile and wave after that.
  21. Other than the electrican picture, the rest doesn't seem to be public yet. But judging by this alone, i'm sure the rest are going to be great!
  22. Thanks Simonwillems. The Surveillance squad was one of my favorite sets when i was a kid! I still think it was the best Mobile command unit that TLC ever made! Thank you White Fang! I appreacaite you including it in your classic town web site! I'm truely honored! Thanks again to everyone for there nice comments! Much appreaciated! Here is a shot of the real truck mine is based on.
  23. Yup, i watch it too. lacey and Coleen need to go. I have a hard time believing that Coleen teaches cooking when she can't get the basics down. I haven't decided who i'm cheering for yet. Robert is a good possibility. Probbly the best on the guys team. Not sure about the girls team. I'm thinking the red head. (sorry, can't remember her name)
  24. Thanks! The reason i used 2 axles for the truck instead of 3,is because the real truck itsbased on has 2 axles. That and i like the storage compartments on the side. I'll see if i can dig up a pic for referance. Thanks! You know whats funny, i have this down stairs every night since i "finished" it trying tosee if there's anything else i can improve. In the mean time, i've been roling it around, poping the slide outs in and out, setting up the trailer and such! It really is fun to play with!
  25. V-LP-7E I've been wanting to build my own mobile command trailer for some time now and unfortunutly work has been slow, so on my extra days off i just started building. I've meantioned in the past that i build emergency vehicles for a living and this trailer is loosly based on a real mobile command trailer that my company built for one of our local law enforment agencies. So here's a little background story. So last year my lego city purchased a needed command trailer. Most are familar 7743. After its inital purchase, the chief did his inspection and..... Well.... He was not impressed. Only two work stations, room for two officers inside and no orginized storage. A few months after being put into service it was used during a hostage negotation and it was then, that the intire police force realized that this paticular vehicle just wasn't going to work for our police department. It was decided that a new mobile command unit was going to be needed. The police department quickly drew up plans for what they required in a mobile command unit. Propper lighting, radio comunications, surveillance equipment and storage were all in the plans. A local coach builder won the bid, and began construction immediatly. After a few months of building (these guys work fast) my Lego Police department took delivery of there new pride and joy! It was decided to keep a truck and trailer combination vs. a self motorized unit cause this setup has proven to work just fine for the department. lets start with the truck. The truck is loosly based on a chevy Topkick medium duty truck. It has been out fitted with all the nessasary lighting for police duties. The truck cab is 6 wide, and the rear bed is 7 wide. I think this gives the truck some depth, as well as making the transition to the 8 wide trailer more "flowing'. More on that later. One more shot of the truck bed. Here you can see the ball hitch in the bed. Now on to the command trailer.. The trailer is 8 wide (technicly 9 with the wheel flares). The size was needed to acomadate the equipment inside. Speaking of size, lets take a look at the highlight of this beauty.. Here you can see the teloscoping light towers and slide out work stations. Slid in for transport... Slid out for work inside! The purpose of this is to give more interior room. Speaking of interior, lets take a peak inside shall we? Here the happypolice chief awaits to give us the tour! this is the forward slide out. It is has two work stations and can be tied into any of the radio systems in the trailer. Next we have the forward galley. We have a sink, refrigerator and for those long nights of surveillance, a coffee maker! This is the chief's favorite part of the trailer!! We all also have a work light, as well as a TV to keep up with local news. Here we have some storage for radios and clean up equipment. On the oppiste side we have two small storage bins, and a large equipment locker. Closed... Open! We have some hand cuffs for the bad guys, and i know its hard to see, but right above them is a saw. Next we have the rear slide out. It features one work station with two computers. The rear work area also features a map of the city, and right behind the it is a back up work station in case a 4th officer needs to work, as well as a TV like in the forward work area. Ariel shot with slides out... With the slides in for transport. Out side we have the much needed storage. Cones, barriers, tables, just bout anything can be stored up there! A few shots of the trailer setup for the duty! You can also see comunication antennas for UHF, VHF, 800 MHZ, radios and satalite TV. You can also see the scene lighting whitch is very important in a mobile command unit. All of the barriers and cones you see can be stored in the trailer. So thats it! Thanks for looking. The department hasn't had the chance to use yet, but in training exercises, it has already proven that its much more capable than thier last MCU. Coments are welcome, as well as sugjections for any improvments
