Post about Cartoons and Anime you like
5150 Lego replied to Peppermint_M's topic in Culture & Multimedia
This is exactly why they are labeled adult. Due to there "mature content". It has nothing to do with a more mature story line/plot. There made to make you laugh, not think. Now this if course is purly subjective. What some find funny, others may not. As far as no real plot to Family guy, i'd agree with that. But the same could also be said for the Simpsons. -

I really don't think there is any real concept to speak of. Its justmindless entertainment. I don't believe you offended anyone. (at least not me) Personaly, i think we need shows like this in life. Like i said about about AquaTeen, its just mindless entertainment. No real story, plot, no real point. Just entertainment. Sometimes after a long day at work dealing with customers, and busting my head with wiring diagrams... Its nice just to laugh. -
8295 Telescopic Handler Review

Your right. He does know what a true review consists of. And he acknowledges this is his response. The thing is Anio, he showed appreciation for the review, and gave reasons why he didn't like the set. (unlike you) He also isn't forcing his opinion as being the only correct one. You really need to understand that everyone has different expectations of what they want out of a technic set. -

I love Cartoons. Nice way to get away from the real world. One of my Faves (when it was still on) was Transformers Animated. Good stories, funny, and serious when needed. This series also gave some of the best toys in terms of design, strength and fit and finish. Very well made figures. I'm very partial to Family Guy. Unlike the Simpson's, its still funny and they keep coming up with original material. I like a show that has this kind of staying power and can keep the audience entertained yrs after its start. Old Nickelodeon shows were great. Some of my faves were Hey Arnold!,Ren and Stimpy and Rocko's Modern Life. I loved episodes that focused on Rocko's dog Spunky, and the Big Heads. Great stuff. For Anime, does the Boon Docks count? They were kinda drawn in anime fashion. As well as Afro Samurai That was one bad A$$ dude! AFROOOOOO!!!!! I almost forgot my current Favorites. Aqua Teen Hunger Force - Adult humor at its finest! Master shake is great! Pure comedy every time he opens his mouth. Squid Billies- Early is great! I love his hats! Metalocapase Good humor, animation and killer music! Can't wait for there second album to come out this September! While i see what your getting at, this could be said about any adult liking any cartoon. It has nothing to do with being mature or not. What apeals to one person does not nessasaly going to apeal to the next person. Its all about personal taste. -
Official Lego Military/War sets?
5150 Lego replied to Clone Commander's topic in Special LEGO Themes
No one is asking for a WWII theme. Just modern military type vehicles like F-22 Raptors, M1 Abram tanks and Humvees. There's nothing wrong with producing these sets. Excellent, excellent points Captina Kirk! Very well said! Completely not true. What do you think happened to these people relatives? There are many people alive that are related to many people that have done some not to nice things in history and to this day are still affected by there relatives past actions. Either way, even if someone was not directly affected by a said outcome/war, does not mean it is now OK (at least in your thinking) to act it out. It is no longer a "fantasy" war. But is still time in history that was filled with blood shed. This is absolutly ridiculous. No one, at any point was asking to make such sets. Even companies that specialize in military toys don't not glorify POW camps. Com'on now. But, if we use your line of reasoning, once it becomes a point in time that no one alive that was affected by this, it would then be OK to turn it into toy form? I don't think so. As far as a war type theme coming about from TLC. It has already happened. Its called Agents. While it might not be modern, it is about a war between good and evil. All the signs are there. It seems every year TLC gets more and more violent in there themes. There so called "No violence" policy does not exist. The evidence is all around you. Its only a matter of time before TLC does the unthinkable.... -
While i understand your point of view, TDK and Iron Man are completly different in terms of story and characters comparared to TF. Also, there subject material isn't nealry as cheezy as TF based stories were. And that in itself is a big problem that i feel many "hard core fans" have yet to,or will not exept. I also don't understand the whole "respectability" aurgument. Adding a couple jokes and showing devestaors balls does no constitie disrespect. (at least IMO) The story in both TF1 and ROTF were both well rounded and easiy ehough to follow. Yes, character development lacked, and at this point still needs to be worked on. But it did get better with ROTF. While i agree that that Animated and Beast wars are above expectations for animated series, they still would be hard to bring to life on the big screen. Example.. While I thought giving the Constructicons a "New York feel" with there accents and overall characterization, i don't see this working on the big screen. Could you imagine all crap Micheal Bay would have gotten if he did this? I could imagine TF forums around the world crashing.

8295 Telescopic Handler Review
5150 Lego replied to ZO6's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
IN your opinion. This does not constitute a bad set. How is it misused? Functions like this are what LA are used for. I will agree that it is hard to turn, but that also is a result of having a LA. Very set I've seen that uses LA's are a tad hard on the fingers to turn. Sure the gear reduction could have been lower, but then it would have taken twice as long to fully crank the arm up. I won't argue with you there. There is room for improvement on the steering. I've found that the lever mechanism is clever. While i would have preferred the stack to be vertical when outriggers ar up, its a minor detail that can be lived with, or even fixed. Again, your opinion. The chassis accommodates all the necessary functions that a real telehandler has. So i can't agree with you on that. While i respect his thoughts on the matter given his old position at TLC, his overall opinion doesn't mean anything to me. I don't, and will not let someone else influence my thoughts on a given subject. I will analyze the data myself, and figure out whether the subject matter (In this case 8294) and decide myself if this set appeals to me. If you don't like it, fine. No ones forcing you. But you can't knock someone else's review/thoughts just cause there not the same as yours. Not cool. Agreed. Well said Blakbird. You should look at the model/set and see what functions it has compared to the real one its based on and see how it compares. IN this case, the snow groomer has a front shovel that tilts up and down, side to side. (swivels) and has a mechanism in the rear that lowers up and down to compact the snow. TLC's set does exactly this. In terms of relism, the overall design is very similar to what you would find at a ski lodge getting the mountains ready for winter skiers. Same could be said for 8459. Great design, functions exactly like a real loader. So i could both model receiving high scores. Is it perfect? Nope. But does it deserve the low score that you claim it does?Again, thats subjective. -
So my birthday was last week and i was blessed with some TRU, and Target gift cards! I haven't bought in TF in quite some time so i felt i needed to amp up my collection. Here's what i picked up... ROTF Deluxe Rampage. Good figure. I really like his robot mode. Different than anything we've had before. Very orignal design. HIs alt mode is cool too. BUti felt he would have benifited better from a Voyager size. ROTF Voyager Demolisher.. Nice Figure. Very different robot mode whitch i like. Its hard to get his wheels roling in robot mode though, and they don't move in his alt mode. I also like that he is fairly easy to transform. ROTF Voyager Mixmaster.. One of my favorites. Great alt mode. Very detailed when he is in cement mixer mode. His robot mode is nice too. Although i don't care for the front cab of the truck just just trucking behind him. Takes away from his overall design. He is also a bit tricky to trnsform back to vehicle mode. The mixer panels have to be movied just right to get everything to fit back into place. I like that he is a triple changer and can be a cannon. Nice extra touch. Deluxe Skids. I like him. Fairly easy transformation, and looks great in Robot mode. His little punching fist is fun. ROTF Leader class Megatron... I picked him up cause i never got the last movie Megs. I like him! Pretty easy to transform, and his tank mode is clever. NOt as solid as i would have liked though, but overall not bad. This week TRU was having a sale on Animated Leader class figures. So i picked up Leader class Ultram Magnus.. Let me tell you. This has to be one of the best figures ever to come out of hasbro. Fit and finish on this is exellent, only to be rivaled by Animated Leader class Bulk head. I have to say, i'm very impressed with the Animated figures. Very solid in both vehicle and robot modes. Way better than anything from the movie line. But back to Ultra Magnus.. Great fig. Just great. Easy transformation, very solid, and great voice effects. I love his "Battle mode" with retractable cannons. Easily possable and strong. At $19.99 he was halk off and a steal, but easily worth full price. Highly, highy recomened!

8295 Telescopic Handler Review
5150 Lego replied to ZO6's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
What exactly do you not like about this that makes it no more usefull than just a parts pack? I agree that it not superb, but its really not bad either. At least not as bad as your making it out to be. -
8295 Telescopic Handler Review
5150 Lego replied to ZO6's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
8421 also had two of its tires stationary to help ease some of the weight. The tires it uses are also lighter as well as less contact patch to the ground and can support the weight better. And one of the bigger factors is the gear used to turn the wheels of 8421 is twice the circumference of the beacon used on the handler. All aids in the steering effort. I won't argue that 4821 steering system is better. Cause your correct it is. But taking everything into consideration i think TLC did what they could with the handler (well not everything, cause as i said, i found a way to improve). This is subjective. What you find useful or "playable" in a set, might be completely different than someone else. I found once you hooked up a Power functions motor to it, it was quite fun and is by no means one of the worst sets TLC has released. My biggest gripe was as CP5670 mentioned, the tilt mechanism for the forks. This was pretty lame for a model of this size. (though in TLC defence, i still haven't figured a better way to do this. Though i haven't taken much time to look into it either). You have to take a review and look at it from your perspective and use the goods and bads as you see fit to what you expect in any given set. You can't knock someones positive review of a set cause it (the set)wasn't to your liking. That's not fair. -
8295 Telescopic Handler Review
5150 Lego replied to ZO6's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The steering actually works quite well, but you are correct that it isn't quite as smooth as two wheel steering, and due to the size of the model, as well as the weight, it can make it difficult to steering while the model is just sitting still. Another problem with the steering is the beam that spans the underneath of the handler that connects the beacon on the cab, to the gears in the middle. Its very, very low and gets hung up on nearly everything. I couldn't even load mine on and of my trailers cause it would get hung up. I solved this by relocating the beam inside the chassis of the handler. It took some doing, but it wasn't to difficult. -
Heights. I'm scared to death of heights. I can't even look up at a flag pole without getting dizzy. Funny thing is though, i really want to sky dive and bungy jump. I'm hoping that will fix my fear.

Very cool! Exellent attention to detail. I love scale accurate mini fig creations. Well done!

True. I'll give you that one. One would think so. Either way though, its still a ranking system.

Are you sure? I don't recall seeing any contact in the replay. I agree that he came in a bit to hot, but hemight have made the turn if he didn't make contact with Webber as you described. Again, this is a maybe. He's proven he can make deep turns in the past.

Yes, but in the same post he also meantioned that paticular forum had a different member base. What worked in one forum, many not nessasarly work in another. While yes, it would probbly be a small number. If it were in fact abused, this could be very discouraging. Especaily for new memebers. You say that it should be used only to reward good, well thought out posts. Even you admit that this may not always be the case. While i'm sure its very easy to just say.. "Ban the people that misuse the system." That to me would seem like alot of work having to constantly be checking peoples profile to check the reasons for such high rep points. I don't see this happening with people that would rather just cruise and look around and ocasionaly posting. Can you provide an example? I don't understand this. In a few posts back you say that the rep points would be visable in the members profile. So while its not publicly visable, it can still be accessed and seen. Thus my hypothetical conversation could take place

Congrats to Webber. Its about time. Have to disagree on the drive through. He clearly bumped Rubens and could have caused a nasty accident. To bad for Hamiltion. Such a great start, only to get a flat on the first turn. His car had such great improvment in practice. Had the wether held up, i think he could have taken pole on his final qualifing lap.

I've seen this system on a few automotive forums i frequent. They tend to be mis used, even by adults. I think you hit the problem right within your own post. While its very clear that you would only give out rep points when you feel someone post something "extraordinary" as you put it, many would just add reps to their friends, or for small little comments that don't necessarily add anything new to a said conversation. IMO, this system can actually give a false representation of someone. But again, there's still the few that would potentially cause problems. There's also the strong possibility of someone getting bad rep points due to a simple misunderstanding of someones post. This could also hinder many's true feelings on any given subject just cause there afraid of getting "Negative rep points". Although its not intended to, i could see this turning into a popularity contest real quick. Also, its obvious that some members are going to contribute more than others. But that doesn't necessarily mean that there a bad person, or should be trusted any more/less than one that does. Some have more time than others to write reviews, post mocs, or just generally take time to cruise the boards and post to said topics that they find interesting. People could also use said system against another with post like... "Nobody likes you anyways. You only have two rep points to my 15!" Or something of that nature. I'm not saying this will acure, but it is a very strong posibility.

Very cool! I really like that! I love the transition from white to yellow on the trailer! Exellent design!

Holden makes some Bitching cars. No doubt. And i have experienced this. My father has a Pontiac GTO ( an American renamed version of the Holden Commodore i believe). Has the 6.1 liter V8, 400hp. Its a beast. The pull is awesome. Holden has also given us the Pontiac G8 sedan (same engine as the GTO, but i think has 25 more HP) And is also responsible for the new Camaro. They all share the same "Zeta" platform. I also recently got to ride in an 07 Corvette Z06. 7.0 big block, 505hp. Unbelievable! The pull that car had..... Crazy fast. I've also driven the Mustang Shelby GT500. 500hp. Very cool! But the slow throttle response hinders the driving experience. Do some research before you start on your bashing spree. The rally cars you love oh so much, average around 4mpg, and the street versions of Evo's and STI's get worse than the average american V8. And since when does putting a V8 mean horrible handling? The new mustang out handles anything in its class, and the ZO6 Corvette isn't matched by anything short of 6 figure ferrari's. And the new ZR1 can't be touched. Even your buddies at top gear praised it. But anyways, MPG really isn't, and should be the point of performance cars (but if you want to go there, the Z06 will get mid 20's in MPG while cruising.

There is no better sound (in a car) than an American Big block V8. And to be in a vehicle equiped with one is a feeling that needs to be experianced. Mr. Bean is awesome! I crack up every time i watch his show! Bumble Bee is my favorite Movie car too! The new Camaro is bad a$$!

REVIEW: 8263 Snow Groomer
5150 Lego replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This set is actually better than i thought. Not sureif i preffer the main or alternate model. Might have to pick up two at some point. I really like the cab design of the Snow groomer. Especaily the mirror design. To bad there no way to motorise it (well, at least from Lego).
