Not to meantion very unreliable. $17,000??? Thats it? Was it in a wreak? How manymiles? That car sold for close to $80,000new. Thats a pretty drastic drop in price.
  2. Yup, that was a shady way to bend the rules, but i seriously doubt that he gained any kind of advantage from that shoot. Its not bending the rules. Its very clear that the Valincia race has many fans that support Alonso. A race without him would have drasticly hurt sales for this race. Also keep in mind that many tickets were pre-sold because Schumacher was said to be making a return. When it was anounced he wouldn't, ticket sales slowed. Add the fact the the Spaniad would not be racing on his home track, and well;..Thats just insult to injury. Politics took effect in the decision to revolk the race ban. Thats two completly different senerio's. It was admitted by the Renault Wheel man that he knew the tire was loose but "Didn't have enough time to inform the pit wall." Brawn on the other hand had no way of knowing that the spring was going to pop off. Even if it was human error, the difference was renault was aware from the moment Alsono left the pits that there was a problem and did nothing to inform him of the problem. Even after he radioed in that there was a problem with the right front wheel. That is not an accident, it is neglagence. Hamiltion will dominate all!
  3. Lol. The DHL truck with trailer is one that i'm concidering getting. Along with the mack cement mixer. (might re-paint it as the Transformer constructicon "Mixmaster". I also like the Jeep Wrangler with trailer and Cat loader. Luckly my new house has a spare room that i can take advantage of!
  4. http://www.brudertoys.com/ Mainly interested in the Pro series and accesories. I was first saw them at my local hobby shop last year. I know they've been around for quite a while, but they are very rare in the States. I really like big toy trucks and while a bit on the pricey side, they seem to have good quality. Opening doors, opening hoods, tilting beds, working suspentions, rubber tires steering... The list of details goes on. But i haven't seen one outside the box. Anyone have one that can coment on the quality first hand?
  5. Oh, i agree with that statment 100%. Even if "Good and bad movies" are subjective to the person watching them. But while i believe like Tyrant that there is no set defenition of a good or bad movie, i do believe that movies should focus on there criteria at hand or the theme that said movie falls under (action, love, suspense, horror etc.) Pretty much sums up how i feel on the matter. Well said Tyrant.
  6. Sounds like he understand this just fine. Its others that seem to want to state their opinions as "facts" when they have nothing factual to base this on.
  7. Not true. There is no set definition for what qualifies as a good movie. Largely because depending on the subject said movie is focusing on it will, and should follow a certain criteria. You can't say citizen Kane is a fantastic movie cause it has an excellent plot and story, but then slam a movie like transformers for being crap cause its plot isn't as strong. Two completely different movies, aimed at to completely different audiences. TF main focus is the explosions and "cool factor". That's what every series in the TF series has always been about. Its not a thinking movie. It it had to much depth and followed the criteria of the movies you used as examples, then it would have not only failed at the box office, but as a Transformers movie. That's what people like yourself, as well as critics need to understand. It did what it was supposed to do. Deliver two hours of awesome special effects, great characters (i will admit, more character development was needed), top notch fight scenes, and explosions galore. Like i said, most movies that critic's seem to pander over, never even make it out of the Sun Dance Film festival. Why? Cause its not something anyone wants to see and major production companies know this. You can't tell me something is good if no one is willing to pay to see it. Anyways, i don't get why some complain of the plot and story of TF anyways. If my 60yr old mother who has never had any exposure to Tf other than the occasional glimpse of the 80's cartoon can understand whats going on just fine, then i'm sure critics who's job is to review hundereds of movies should be able to do the same. If not, then maybe they need to
  8. Best, without a doubt..... Excellent construction, great use of space, great parts and accessories. And visually stunning. One of Lego's best sets ever IMO. Worst Would have to be this.. Horrible design, horrible waste of space, lame details and accessories. Only good thing was the sticker sheet and it gave me parts to build a proper mobile command unit.
  9. Transformers:Revenge of the Fallen and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra Both movies critic claimed for the most part were horrible movies and one critic even went as far as saying that you had no sense of character or you knew nothing of cinema of you liked Tf ROTF. Or something of that matter. Though TF has earned nearly $900,000,000 million at the box office and is in the top ten grossing movies of all time. Ya, I've heard the argument of "Just cause it made alot of movie, doesn't mean it was good movie" Well that statement is crap. Pure and utter crap. Cause obviously if it wasn't any good, than it (and this goes for any movie that can produce these kinds of numbers) then people would not have paid to see it over and over. Anyways, i never listen to critics anyways. Well, actually, i do. Chances are if they liked it, i know I'll love it! Half the crap they call "Good movies", never even make it out of the sun dance film festival.
  10. Return of the Jedi was the best of the 3 original SW films. We got Ewoks, mini Imperial Walkers (sorry, i don't remember the technical term), A and B-Wing fighters, Jaba the hut, the most epic ground, space and hand to hand combat battles of all time. This was an epic win and an improvement of the first two. IJ gave us a progress story into each film, and the Last Crusade was by far the best of the three again with good battles, a variety of vehicles in both sea and air, and land and the best women! Again, an epic win! Anyone can see this! Any film can have a sequel as long as its done correctly and can add to the story. Though i can't necessarily comment on D9cause i haven't seen it yet, but i imagine the same rules apply to it as any other movie in term of making a sequel.
  11. Much, much better!
  12. Klaus Dieter, i wouldn't hold out hope that we won't get a new theme soon. You have to remember that it was only this year that TLC asked for opinions of AFOL of what new theme's we'd like to see. Only A few months ago actually. So you can't expect for a decision to be made and sets to be designed in only a few months time. Many times its a year or even two (depending if new pieces are introduced) before new sets are made. So just be patient and give it some time. That would be really cool! Similar to the Coast Guard Truck and boat we received couple yrs ago. Sorry, but a school and supermarket as much as you'd like to see, just would not sell well with kids. These might do well with AFOL, but not enough to be system type set. I know as a young boy i would passed by these sets if i saw them in the toy isle. Fire Stations and police stations (as well as those two themes in general) are Lego's most popular themes, and when the last fire Station was released it was the top seller for a non licensed theme. A 5 to 6yr cycle for these sets would not be a wise move on TLC's part. One thing we all need to remember is that TLC holds test sec-ions with there target age groups for each theme to find out what they would be interested in seeing. I have no doubt that TLC has tested the waters with schools, banks, shops etc, but Its been found that police, fire and constructions sets always come out on top. We are not the target audience. And a "Black market" set? That sells bombs and explosives?? Are you serious? Don't think that would go over well.
  13. Blah. I wonder how much the Officials In Valencia Paid off the FIA to allow Renault to race. Cause they were so sure that Alonso was going to be able to race and guaranteed he would long before Renault's hearing. I call foul play. I also don't by that the mechanics "Didn't have enough time to tell the pit wall about the incident". There was plenty of time from when Alonso left the Pit lane to when he first called in about a possible flat tire. At that time they should have informed him his tire not being secured then. Oh well. Politics as usual in Formula 1.

Ya, the historic races a cool. Lot of cool cars that have alot of history. Last time i went to Monterey they just happened to have run across a pre auction they were having on cannery row. They had a bunch of Ferrari's, Classic sports cars,Muscle cars, and even a Maserati MC12(I Think that's what it was) Its the car that's based on the Enzo chassis. Ya Porsche's really aren't all that exclusive anymore to be considered anything special. There are a few exceptions such as the GT3, there V10 super car (please forgive me, the name escapes me) and 911 Turbo.
  15. I think this why he said 99% of the time. I agree with you though. "Aliens" , the sequel to "Alien" was far better than the orignal. Another example would be Empire strikes back, then Return of the Jedi even surpased it. Then we have the Indianna Jones movies. Each one was a step up from the previous. The Dark Knight was also supior, as was Transformers ROTF. So there are plenty of examples of a line that can succed with a sequel. I haven't seen District 9 yet, so i can't coment if a sequel would be a good idea. But the concept seems like a very good and orignal one.
  16. Ahh, 8436. this is the one set that brought me out of my darkages. I built the model just as you recieved it (with the crane on the back so i could still tow a trailer). Then i decided i needed a trailer for it. The i decied i needed some equipment to go on the trailer. From there my hobby just took off. Since mine is highly modified (air tank, larger mirrors, 5th wheel hitch, 3rd axle) it will be interesting to see your rebuild.
  17. Yes. It is also the the Transformers 2 that has made 4 times its budget and made over $900,000,000 world wide. Your probably right. But again, this is a Lego movie. Corny kind comes with the territory. Also keep in mind this is going to be made for kids in mind. But honestly, that's not to say that the writers can't come up with a story/script that captures Lego's imagination. Weirder things have been done. Peppermint M brings up some very valid points. While this initial idea doesn't sound all that great, she's right that we haven't seen anything yet and its really not all that fair to completly dismiss this. Even if the movie flops, chances are we'llget some decents sets out of it. We all also have to remember that while most of us are AFOL, this that Lego has, and will also we be for the children. For goodness sake,... won't someone please think about the children!! But seriously, i think many of us are thinking of this to much from an "Adult" perspective and need to step down and think if how excited we all would be if we were all 11yrs old and this move was coming out. That's who the target audience is going to be. Not high school teens, not young adults in there 20's. Kids. Honest, innocent kids that just want to be entertained for an hour and a half. having said this i still agree with most that this film will probably be cheesy as hell with a played out story, but who are we kidding? Peppermint M is right that we all (well, I'll say 95% of us) will no doubt be seeing this in the theater/cinema. Even when many start seeing previews and dismissing it will undoubtedly go to see if there initial reactions were justified. So while i don't see this winning any oscars are being highly successful, i will say that the idea is original and will at minimum give us a look at Lego in a way that we've never seen before.

Is it just me, or does the front of the new SLS resemble the new Nissan GTR? Very cool. 69' was the last year before the body was butchered before it 79' when the first "Fox Body" mustang appeared. What are your plans for this one? YOu guys going all original,or planning to make touring type cruiser,or going for a track car? I too love old classic American muscle cars. I'd love to have a 69' Camaro SS. With the Rally sport hidden headlights and grill. A 70' Chevelle SS 454 would be nice too. There's nothing like the feels and sound of an old school American Muscle car with a Big block, carburated V8.

  21. I saw both versions. Neither looks much like the real thing to me. If you can move the front axle forward that would make a world of difference and would make it much more accurate. Not trying to me mean or bring you down, just some constructive criticism.
  22. I'm moving myself this weekend and preety much all the sugjestions meantioned are good. If you have alot of techinc or model team type sets, i would wrap them in bubble wrap (remove all loose items like antennas, mirrors, wings etc. and place those in a serperat bin or baggy) and place the models in either boxes or plastic bins. The wrap will generaly hold everything toeghter, as well as keep them from getting banged up.

Well it might have taken a few corners with aggression, but other than that nothing big. Those cars (the Nissan GT-R) have a "Launch control". You put the car in race mode, turn off the traction control, Hold the brake and rev the engine to about 5,500, to 6,000RPM's. Release the brake and the car launches forward. Using this method the car will reach 60MPH in a tad over 3 secs. I was offered to try this feature out, but these cars have been known to break their transmissions this way. Didn't want to be responsible for a $10,000 Transmission (this doesn't include the labor to install it) so i settled with a gradual "Hard acceleration".

Not exactly. Some cars belong to friends that let me take them for a Spin. Yes, 1,000. This is the GTS-R version of the standard Viper. In 98', Chrysler competed in the FIA GT2 race series. They entered there viper with was very competitive, but found with a few aerodynamic tweaks, they could do better. But rules say that any aerodynamic improvements done, also had to be done to the production car as well. This was so manufacturers didn't go hog wild with wings and such. So to conform with the rules, dodge released 1,000 (that was the minimum to be considered production) limited production GTS-R Vipers. Edit: Pics removed by request of vehile owner That was a friends. Well, actually it was a buddy of a buddy. Good guy though. I didn't get to drive it hard. Just accelerated fast.
  25. You have something to say then say it. Ah, they day of arcades. I always loved the atmosphere of Arcades. The sounds of a Street Fighter on one corner, and pin ball in the other. I still love playing the racing simulators. San Francisco Rush was one of my favorites.
