  1. Great review. To bad i can't say the same about the Camper. My main gripe is with the interior. I understand that there isn't much interior room, but i think that could have been fixed with the overall design. I think having the camper (and i know i'm going to get flamed for saying this) either 7 or 8 wide to open up the interior. I do like the little bed above the cab though. I think that piece was used well. The opening sides are a waste of space and look horrible. The over all camperjust lacks the nessasary details that make a camper a camper.
  2. OK, so here's my predictions for a few of the drivers for 2010'- Alsonso will go to Ferrrari. Massa will be the planned teammate, but durring the off season, he'll find out he has not quite healed from his injury, so Fisechella will take over and become Alonso's teammate. Either this or Ferrari will buy out Massa's contract because Alonso won't be happy enless he's put as the number one driver, and we all know that will never happen with Massa as his team mate. Kimi will move to McLaren, . Thats all i have for now.
  3. How is PS3 to play online? A big community? I know its not nearly as big a comunity as 360, but from my experiance most people that had problems with the 360 were heavy into online play and were over heating. Not sure if that has anything to do with the problem the PS3 has.
  4. One thing you have to remember is that Ross Brawn has ben deleoping these cars for nearly 3 years before there introduction. Also they admitatly route off last season as soon as first couple of GP's to concentrate on the 09' car. If Ferrari and McLaren weren't fighting for the championship i think the playing field would have been more equal. My money is on Barrichelo for the title. IMO, he deserves it more than Jenson, especaily after his cockyness after winning his last GP. I think at that point he thought he had it in the bag and just got sloppy. He hasn't bagged anything yet. He neds to get focuses or he'll loose it all. Its looking more and more like Kimi might join him next season with Alonso going to Ferrari. Rumor is that it will be anounced at the Fuji GP next week! Congats to Hamiltion! Well done my friend! Glad to see he kept his cool even when being pushed by Vettel. Speaking of Vetel, i bet he'll never speed down pit lane again! Same goes to Nico Rosberg. maybe he'll watch his speed exiting pit lane alittle better now!
  5. If you read the article, it states that originally Legoland Windor had plans of buying and transporting the house to Legoland, but withdrew after they learned it would cost to much to transport. So it seems there was a plan in the beginning. It may not have been a well thought out plan, but there was a plan.
  6. Lego gave AFOL the Great Fire Brigade building. Its only logical that TLC gear City towards kids.
  7. One word. MONEY! Kimi is still negotiating his contract and it doesn't look like he's getting what he wants from ferrari. There's to much scandal associated with Renault for Alonso to be associated with them. They've also lost two key sponsors and rumors are there having a hard time funding the rest of the season, let alone next year. Also concerning Massa, i have a very strong feeling he won't be racing next year. He sustained a serious head injury, and that's going to take a while to get over. My guess is he'll test during the off season and like schumacher, find out that his injury isn't quite healed yet. We'll see him back in 2011' instead.
  8. I felt the same way. They really had a chance to run a with an orignal plot, but blew it.
  9. How about a Semi Truck with a livestock trailer. To transport the little piggies and cows. Could include truck/trailer, driver, ranch hand and a little ramp up to the trailer to unload the animals.maybe even some gates to hold the animals once there off loaded from the trailer.
  10. Check your local airport. Most are nothing but glass panels. To be honest, i don't think i've ever seen any airport without glass panels. So IMO, this is one of the most realistic looking Airports TLC has done. Its nice, no doubt. But thats not to say the new airport isn't nice either. Its more realistic and has a very moderen design. Fits in with current acitecture very well. No aurgument there. The plane is good, but far from perfect. It can only hold two passengers, and the rear cargo hold had very limited space and the top section didn't open. Making it difficult to load cargo. IMO the new planes offer more in terms of playability than most brick built LEGO planes. Your looking at this from an AFOL persepctive and not a 10yr olds. I'm not nessasarly saying thats a bad thing, but thats not all that fair either. One thing that i think many fail to remeber is that while most of us are AFOL and collectors, kids 7-12 are still, and always will be TLC's target audience with city theme sets. Like it or not, kids love big planes to swoop. I also have to disagree with the plane being to <insert that tiresome argument> as many like to call it. Its already been proven that the parts can, and have been able to be used in many mocs and sets other than city airliners. And even if the parts are big, they do serve purpose and give the planes clean lines. They hold over 10 figures, forward, and rear entry doors, snack carts to move up and down the cabin and a kitchen area. So while they don't offer the build as say the cargo plane in Peril in Peru, they do offer lots of detail that the smaller planes of the 80's and early 90's never could. Oh man, i have to disagree with you there. By far one of (If not ) the worst helicopter TLC has ever made. Unrealistic and ugly design. it looks like they just through a bunch of bricks toeghter. The new Fire helicopter is way better. Even with the one piece front end. Exactly! We all need to remember that while we've been collecting for years, every year we get kids starting out with LEGO for the first time. Fire and police are without a doubt the most popular in the city line, it it only makes sence for TLC to release a new one every few years.
  11. I stand corrected. Your absolutly right. For some reason i had a completel lapse of the inner workings of LEGO Pnuematics. maybe i was just so filled with excitment that i forgot! I think its a landing gear for the trailer so when it is un hitched it will stand up.
  12. Well it looks like there are three pnuematic pistons, and one is under the bed. (at least it look slike a piston). So if it is, what other function could it do? Turn the turntable perhaps?
  13. How is the Fire station and Airport <insert that tiresome argument>? They both have good detail in there own right. I don't see any big pieces other than the windows, and those can not be classified as <insert that tiresome argument>.
  14. Your correct. But LEGO already has a good brand name, image, and quality product. No one is saying that licence themes is imperative for LEGO to survive, but in a bad economy, LEGO is doing what they need to to survive for many years to come. As far as Licence themes over shadowing LEGO's own themes, i think that can be partially true. In terms of Space, its definitely going to be hard for Lego to top Star Wars with there own theme (As MARS Mission showed), but that doesn't necessarily mean that there products wouldn't sell. IN the case of Pirates, if i remember correctly, there really wasn't much in terms of competition for LEGO in the 80's. Now we have MEGABLOCKS making a strong comeback who hd the POTC licence and did fairly well. With a new movie coming out POTC toys are bound to grab little ones attention (as well as adult collectors). Kids/people are already identifying with Movies/video games more than ever. When i was a kid, video games were just coming out (original Atari and Nintendo) and Comic book based movies are almost non- existent. Now it seems were getting several remakes of comic book, or 80's cartoon based character movies, and kids have several video game consoles to choose from, as well as Internet. I'm not sure how old you are (I'm 28) but LEGO did not have this competition in my days. were in a different time now, and what worked 20yrs ago in terms of marketing and design does not mean it will work today. A company must adapt to the times. I don't believe TLC has gone away from any morals they've built themselves on, or hurt there image. Just adapting to the times.
  15. Very cool!!!! The tractor isn't exactly what i was expecting, but it does look good! So no real disappointment there. Goes very well with the farm equipment we've been getting for the last few years. so thats a plus all by itself! The main highlight of course is the trailer as it seems to carry all the functions. I can't be sure, but at this time appears that the tractor only has steering. Though its possible there a couple of pistons under the hood. it would be nice if the front axle had a "Bogey" type suspension like the last tractor with trailer. Now for the trailer. Lots going on here We have a minimum of 3 pneumatic pumps. Two for the crane arm, and at least one to possibly tilt the rear log bed. The blue under the bed seem to be hose and not an air tank. But we'll have to wait. I also hope to see some kind of suspention in the trailer as well.
  16. NO ones telling you you can't have an opinion or that yours doesn't count. All I'm saying is that kids will, and always will be the deciding factor on what theme's are created and ones that drop. I'm sure we'd all love that, but sadly, that just isn't how the world works. First, POTC theme is only speculation at this point. We really don't know what TLC is going to do. Second, what worked 20yrs ago might not work today. Ya TLC did great with there own space line and adventure themes, but we also didn't have the abundance of Comic book based movies and licenses to work with either. If there were Batman LEGO when i was a kid i would have eaten it up like breakfast cereal. we live in a new age of Video Games and computers. LEGO needs to make there mark however they can. And one way of doing so is Licence themes.
  17. You might be right. There loosing there key sponsor ING Bank, and due to this, they may be hard pressed to find a replacment sponsor. I have to say i think Renault got off easy. Regaurdless if they fired Bratorvio and Symonds and didn't protest the aligations. Though Renault could still be facing being sueded my Farrari and Felipi Massa for changing the outcome of the Singapore race and possibly causing Massa the Championship title last year. One things for sure... Alsonso will defenatly be moving to Ferrari.
  18. ahh. Going to build a Road train perhaps? I'll be getting a couple my self to make double "Super-Bee" type trailers myself. NO way. The new airport terminal is by far better than the onbe pictured above. It has a better design, and much more detail. The only thing it lacks is bagage chute, but that doesn't ruin the rest of the design. Oh,ok. In that case i apoligise and agree with you. Good point.
  19. Though i don't collect pirates, i would buy POTC sets. The Pirate sets we got in 09' were pathetic to say the least. So lets see what TLC can come up with someone elses ideas.
  20. I like the fire helicopter. Think it fits quite nice with the coast guard chopper we got last year. I'm even digging the new front piece. I have to agree on the front of the Tanker truck. I really wish TLC would give us some different truck cab designs instead of the typical European cab overs we've been getting for the last 4 or 5 years now. Its definitely getting old. And isn't that the point? To improve over the last one? While no set is perfect, I agree that this is an improvement over the last set. Soin that regaurd, i think TLC did a bang up job. So what? If its using those pieces that aid in the aesthetic design then whats the problem? It captures the shape of the tanker rather well, so i don't see a problem.
  21. Buggy loks good. The helocopter like oyu said, looks a bit to simple. But i'll wait for some better pics till i make the final judgment.
  22. Brick Miner, First let me apologise (though to be honest, i really don't see how you came to this conclusion based off three sentences) if my reply post came off "aggressive" as you call it. That was not my intent, nor was attempting to start an argument with you, or anyone else. Perhaps i did misinterpret your original post. Though while what i got out of it may not have been your original intent, I still feel there is alot of truth to it what i said. I would not say I'm "Imposing" my thoughts onto yours, but merely adding to them. Many people have done the exact same in this very thread. Hmm... It seems to me that your the one coming off a bit aggressive. I personally don't have a problem with that. Your passionate about your hobby which is great IMO. But i must ask that you don't take a misinterpretation of one of your posts as being aggressive towards you. That simply isn't the case. I understand that you in no way shape or form are obligated to take someone else's position on any given matter, but at some point you must consider it. I understand your perspective, and know one is saying that it is wrong. I'm glad that you shared your experience, but please understand, that others have there own perspectives as well. No one is knocking your experiences or saying that one if favorable than the other. But i do stand my original post that many think more in line of an AFOL than LEGO's primary target audience. Children. I hear so much of "As an AFOL i wish they'd keep this line, going, or do this theme, or do this..." Kids have, and always will the fore front of LEGO's marketing decisions. There are instances were certain sets reflect the AFOL more than kids (USC sets, and the recent modular city buildings for example), but when it comes to system sets, kids have, and always will who decides what themes stay and go. Not the AFOL. And to be honest, thats the way it should be. Many have voiced how upset they are that Pirates are leaving and themes such as Power Miners and Agents hang around for yet another wave. How we get Fire and Police Stations every few years, but no Schools or Banks, or library sets. There's reasons for this. I don't believe it that TLC doesn't care about its AFOL, the age group is 8-13, not 21-50. There here to make money, and to do so they need to appease there primary audience. That's not to say that i don't disagree with the decisions TLC has made in the past, but i do seem to understand them. Again, i'm not aurguing your point or experiances are invalid. Cause they are quite valid. Just that others will shares there's as well.
  23. Agreed. We have no concrete evidence at this point, but a POTC theme seems to make sense with the so called "Break" in the pirates line. I'd agree with you,.... But this is not the 1980's. Back in the day not to many toy companies to advantage of license (most companies didn't share licenced theme's) so it was hard for multiple companies to get them) Now we have multiple companies sharing Licenced theme's and it seems to be very popular with kids. Think about it... As a child if a pirate related movie came out and LEGO badged it as say... POTC, you would have ate it up as a kid. Same if Batman LEGO came out in the 80's. Finally, someone that understand that a children's building toy isn't based on what Adults what to see. Kids have, and always will be the for front of what TLC does in terms of theme's and sets. This is fact people. Trying to get a petion to bring back Pirates and an attempt to squash any hopes of a POTC theme with a few signatures isn't going to do squat. Not Only that, but its down right selfish! Who are we to hold back potential profit and a theme that hasn't even seen the light of day? Com'on guys. Light'en up!
  24. Based off what? Nothings been confirmed. Your judging a theme that hasn't even came out yet, nor seen any set designs. You hit it on the mark with what i high lighted. Your thinking about this to much from an adult perspective and not that of a child. You said yourself, kids of yesterday represented a different market than kids of today. According to my local Lego store, don't sell nearly as well as Power Miners, or Agents. Also, i remember seeing on Lego's website about there top 10 selling sets, and a couple small pirate sets made the bottom of the list, with Power Miners making the top. I'll try and find it. Not to be negative, but his comment should tell you something about just how well Pirates sell compared to other themes. If they were in fact a good seller than TLC would consider the theme to be in with the rest of the primary theme's. But as you can see coming right from the horses mouth, they don't. That should tell everyone that there not as popular many would like to think they are.
  25. Wow, look like Renault and Ferrari could be starting Criminal charges against Flavio and Symonds.. http://planetf1.com/story/0,18954,3213_5564741,00.html
