I think this would have been a perfect opertunity to use lime green.

Its not like TV were one takes an electric screw driver and just "Roles back" the odometer. Its more difficult to do than you think, and is highly illeagal to tamper with. Its concidered fraud and can land you a a very large fine as well as jail time.

Glad you understood our posts as more "constructive critizisim" than being rude to you. Glad all thats cleared up. Just check on the allowed mileage. You'd be lucky if they let you drove more than 5K miles/kilometers a year.

Well, maybe this will be a wakeup call for Bravio as well. Though i don't agree with the way Piquet is handling being sacked, if what he's saying is true (about how he was treat in light of Team mate Alonso), then if cleared, hopfully he'll treat the newguy (sorry i forgot his name) with more respect and not so much on the back burner.

The wheels do "Go round", they just don't steer. I Just found out this is now avaible at target, so i'll be using my last gift card of the year to pick this up. Can't wait to start mocing! My guess is next year they'll release a GTR race version like they did for the F-430.
-
Ok, not to be mean, but what exactly did you do? Just take the roof off? I can't tell from the pics.
-
NOt looking good for Renault. Lets hope there found inocent in these aligations. And i agree, Piquet's career in F1 is over. Though to be honest, i don't thikn he had much of one to begin with.

Don't take this the wrong way, but nearly nothing of what you just said made any sense. First, you were the one that said you wanted to add neon lights and the such. And at no point did i ever mention neon under the vehicle. We were talking about dash and dash conversions. Second, your talking about having a car that looks good, sounds good, and feels good when driving. These are not the qualities kit cars are known for. I'm not trying to shut down your idea of a KIT car, but i suggest you take a look at the kit you are considering purchasing in person before you invest nearly $40,000( Yes, 40, cause you should anticipate having to do touch up as well as work to the engine to get it up were you want it, as well as all the additional parts that will be needed as well as labor to do all the work. I'd also check for insurance prices too. While your correct that you won't have to pay the insurance for a Lambo, you won't be paying for insurance for a 15yr old MR2 either. Although it might use the chassis of an MR2, it is no longer an MR2. Many insurance companies (at least here in the states) won't insure super cars or kit cars. You'll need to look into specialty insurance for them, and there not cheap. Yes you can buy directly for the manufacture, but in many cases there going to be very expensive depending on the engine you choose. But the plus side of doing this is your buying a brand new engine with all the necessary brackets and wiring harness. So you don't have to worry about inheriting someone else's problems from a used engine. Again, I'm not trying to steer you away from this kit car. Just make sure you do proper research before making a major purchase like this. Don't get caught up in the "Super car looks". Your young. You'll have plenty of time to get the vehicle of your dreams.

Money, money, money my friend. I wouldn't doubt that others have created there own dashboards and door panels, but that all cost money. Its not cheap. So if this is your plan, make sure you have someone with experiance handle this project for you. Yes. A V8 will handle the power reliably (when built correctly) and alot cheaper than a 4cly. I'd defenatly have to see it myself instead of believeing the owner of the company. Of course he's going to defend his product till death. But from what i saw in the video, there was quality concerns. If the panels are junk to begin with then it doesn't matter your skill level. There not going to fit propperly and your going to have a Junk car. Again, i haven't seen the car in person, so it might be as good as the guy says. But in my experiance, kit cars are just that. Kit cars. They lack the quality and structure that is the premisis these super cars are built on. As far as "Pimp" factor goes, you don't need to change the dash, nor to most people do that. You can change out your stereo speakers, and nean lights and keep the same dash. Your looking at thousands upon thousands to replace a dash. And i can't see anyone replacing the Lambo style dash anyways. Does that include an engine? And if so what engine? First, how skilled are your friends? Its not an easy task to build up an engine. especialy an Audi. I have loads of experaice with them, and i can tell you that there one of the worse it terms of tuning. Your going to need to spend alot of time on the dyno to get the HP results your after. So i have to call BS on the the $1500 to tune. I think the company is lieing to you. Ussualy ebay or junkyards. Just make sure the engine comes with the engine wiring harness.

lego 8297 problem

I've had to replace a few of these clutches in other models as well. Its not uncommon for these to go out. -
What i mean by fit and finish is the over all quality of the car and how well the panels fit against each other. The goal is to have an even seem between each panel and that they flow even to the next. Also, replica usually are fiberglass and by so, the quality can be iffy. Meaning the body panels have a sort of "wavy texture" when you look at it. They also tend to creak and moan while you drive. Now i can't say for sure this is how these replicas are cause i haven't seen them up close, but one thing you have to remember is there is a reason super cars such as the Lambo and Ferrari's cost as much as they do. Cause these companies pay attention to these details and only use the finest of materials. So what happens is you end up having a car that looks like the lambo, but has the fit and finish and overall quality of Kia. This is evident by the pics of the interior you posted. That's the same interior from the MR2 that the engine came from. So you have a dash that's over 15yrs old in a "New"car. its going to look, and feel cheap when you drive it. Its very rare that a car has a solid feel to it when its pieced toeghter with parts from different cars. Yes. The exhaust has everything to do with how a car sounds and will general increase HP. What exhaust company is near you? Are you sure its an exhaust company or just a muffler shop? There's give and takes depending on what kind of sound and performance you want, and also largely depends on the engine you have as well. No matter what exhaust you put on, a 4Cly is not going to sound like a V8. The type aspiration the engine is will also largely affect the HP and fuel economy gain. A forced induction engine (turbo and supercharged) will have greater benefits than a stock naturally aspirated engine. The general rule is air in, air out. The more air you cram into an engine, the faster you can get it (the exhaust) out will increase HP. But be careful as to big an exhaust could make your car sound very raspy (like those fart ricer Honda's) and you can actually loose HP. This is why from a performance standpoint its usually best to get a performance exhaust from a reputable exhaust company instead of a fly by muffler shop. I'm very familiar with these engines. The dealership i started my technician apprenticeship was Toyota. These engines are very potent for sure, but as you say, its all about money. 300hp to 500hp is a big jump in terms of reliability. Stock internals were good to about 300, but after that you'd need to rebuild the the whole engine. Your looking at big bucks to properly build and tune any 4cyl to 500hp. Can it be done? Sure. Is it worth the money? I guess that's a subjective question, but there are better choices out there for big power.

we'll see just how well this pans out. ferrari is expecting results. So chances are if he doesn't deliver then he'll be thrown out the seat just like Boeder was. Though i don't think Ferrari expect mircales or podiems, but they do expect points. Also, who is taking of Fishi's seat in the FI car? I have yet to find any info on that? LOL. Maybe they'll pick up Nelson Piquet!!
-
Yup. very possible to tune the MR2 gen 2 engine to 500hp. Though your reliabilty isn't going to be all that great concideringer your pushing that engine to its limits. i noticed once they started showing close up you could spot the fit and finish wasn't nearly as good as the Lambo. This is why replicas are so cheap. I'm also curious to what chassis they use, how the car rides and handles.
-
Ya i noticed that. It seems we've all made the last ten post within a half hour of each other. True. But since finding a "simular" sounding engine is going to be a chore, you might as well go for the gine that has the best reliabilty and gives you the most power/cost ratio or "Bang for the buck!" You beat me to it. Exactly.

GM LS1 or LS2 V8. Used in everything from the Chevy Camaro, Cadillac's, Pontiac's, half ton trucks, and the Australian Holden line of cars. Very reliable, have a ton of aftermarket support anywhere in the world. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_LS_engine Because of its support and reliability, its a very popular choice for engine swaps.

Wow. I have to admit, those are preety good for Replicas What is the cost? Is the interior the same as the real one? in my experiance, ussualy the interior is the dead give away, as well as the fit-and-finish of the replica car in general. Half of the reason super cars cost as much as they do is because of the attention to detail and quality of parts. This is where many replics cut costs. Concerning the Ford motor, I believe the heads on the engine are ported and polished, fuel system is upgraded, and the turbos are added. Its not cheap, but they have proven to be pretty reliable. I still say through in a small block fuelinjected V8. Good reliabityand big power for cheap!
-
That engine sounds nothing like a lambo motor. But to answer your question it comes from a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. They come factory Turbo'd , and are fairly easy to tune to get 400hp. Its a matter of upgrading the Turbo, inter-cooler, fuel system, and exhaust. In all about $6,000 American, not including dyno tuning on top of the cost of the engine (used I'm guessing around 7 to $10K depending on the mileage. But again, its not going to sound like a Lambo, but will still be a heck of alot cheaper. You'd be better using a small block V8 and getting the same power, with less strain the engine and half the cost. And it will sound a hell of alot better too.
-
Its not going to be easy to replicate the sound that a V10 engine makes. There very distinct. So to try and "replicate" it for cheap will not be easy. Also, chances are if your going to build a replica, it will be just that. A replica. Most people will spot a replica right off the bat, so it really won't matter what sound the engine makes as your not going to "fool"anyone. But, if you still want to build a replica, then your engine choice should probably be some kind of a twin turbo charged V6. The Ford Turbo V6 that the Noble M12 uses would be good. V10's are more high pitched than a rumble, so a small displacement engine would be your best bet.

I think the same question could be asked about anyone that posts that there "leaving" in thread. personally, i think we've strayed off the original intent of this thread. It went from people posting up about there 2 week long vacation out of the country, to there weekend at grandma's, or trip to the local grocery store. So people seem to think this forum will come to a halt if there not on for a day or so.

Never been to the San Mateo store, but the one in Santa Clara always is well stocked. I haven't been there in about a year, as i make my purchases at the Sacramento Lego store now. (its close to me). But I'd go with Big Cam's suggestion and call first if there's anything in particular your looking for.

You are correct my young padewaun!

Both bikes look to be one off customs. If you look closely at the first motorbike, you will notice the farings are simular to that of the Ferrari Testrossa. From what i could find out, it was not built directly by Ferrari, but Ferrari did allow the builder to use the pransing horse on it. http://gessato.com/blog/2009/08/12/ferrari...cle-in-history/ The second bike was a concept designed by an amuter art student. It utilises a Enzo based V4 engine with basicly 8 of the cyl. chopped off. It doesn't run, heck, it doesn't even work. But it does look cool! http://jalopnik.com/5056859/ferrari-motorc...e-ferrari-brand The bicycle is a shwin with a Ferrari emblem licenced (like the phones and laptop) under Ferrari. http://www.ochsnerusa-store.com/products.php?cat=52
-
While i can't say for sure, my guess would be no. Ferrari as a whole would not benifit from manufactering the segway bike. More than likely segway makes it, and then uses the prancing horse under license. Just like you said about the cell phones, laptops etc.
-
Ya. I knew about the orignal. Just didn't know they made a modern version. Thank you for sharing. Ferrari does not make those products you listed. They might be sold through Ferrari's web site, but for the most part there just regular cell phones badged with Ferrari Logs and what not. So there not "True" Ferrari's. Nextel offers a line of there cell phones with different auto manufacters badging on them. The nascar ones are the first that come to mind. But ya, i agree. Some people will pay outragous prices just casue it says Ferrari on it.
-
Interesting. I never heard or seen that (the car) before. I bet that segway cost twice as much as a standard one just cause it carries a ferrari badge.
