LEGO Dimensions Physical Brick Discussion
Blondie-Wan replied to Transparency for Effect's topic in LEGO Licensed
Indeed. In fact, I just went back the other day and began looking at various news articles on Disney Infinity's termination. Lots of them talked about Disney being interested in moving away from internal development of their own properties to a licensing model, which if anything sounds like a huge opportunity for LEGO Dimensions to add a bunch of previously off-limits Disney properties. There's certainly still no guarantee, of course, but right now I think the likelihood of Disney properties coming to LEGO Dimensions, starting sometime in a year or two, is better than 50%.- 527 replies

The nice thing about the big expensive D2Cs is that you can usually expect them to be around a good while. It shouldn't be gone in six months (or less!), like some other sets. But yeah, it can be tough to afford these huge sets, even if they're totally worth it. There's a reason I own very, very few sets with MSRPs over $150 USD (and I don't even have very many of those).

LEGO Ideas Discussion

At least some of those who've gotten projects to reach the goal have credited frequent Updates with maintaining public interest and attention in their projects, and attracting new supporters. It seems to me you might want to give it a try. It might be especially helpful to go through your supporter comments and see if they've made any suggestions or requests, especially any frequently recurring ones. In the meantime, take heart - out of all projects still in "Gathering Support" mode, your project is currently the 21st most-supported project on the site, and you've gotten over halfway to the support goal in about four months; that's frankly a lot better than most. -
Couldn't the "gaming events" for the Green Arrow one include ones held at stores, and not just single-location events?

LEGO Ideas Discussion

Oh, I don't think it's likely, either (though I'd love to be wrong, and I did in fact support it myself). I just meant Castle fans might take heart in the fact that even with projects based on pop culture, high-performance vehicles, and scientific exploration (most of which I love, myself) seemingly dominating Ideas, a beautiful historical castle-type creation can still garner full support as well. -

Thanks! One I forgot to put in is that the Doctor Who set should be the current record holder for the most printed elements - it has something like fifty of them, including the minifigure elements plus a couple spares. I'll get an exact count later and add it to my previous post. __________________________ Castle fans may be heartened to see the lovely Merchant's House is the latest Ideas project to reach 10,000 supports. It joins the Addams Family Mansion, Spaceballs - Eagle 5, and Voltron - Defender of the Universe projects in the Second 2016 Review Batch, along with whatever else hits its goal between now and early September or so. The Merchant's House is the first non-licensed project in the batch. -
The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
Blondie-Wan replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
So, technically, we can't yet even assume Batman will be in any of these? What about the sets being constructed from LEGO elements? Spoilsport. -
I don't know (and don't even know about The LEGO Movie or Ninjago - that was just a wild guess), but I'd certainly be all for any new packs that gave us more characters from those last two franchises, particularly Doctor Who (as I'm sure is your own greatest hope as well). Of course, whenever we find out which remaining first-year themes are getting new material in the second year, we should remember there should still be a year 3 and maybe even year 4 or more to look forward to.
-
So, five (or more?) Battle Arenas for first year franchises / themes, of which we can assume DC Comics is one, thanks to the Promo Packs of Supergirl and Green Lantern. I'm guessing two of the others include Ninjago and The LEGO Movie, on the basis of their being the other two best-represented themes in the game (i.e., the ones with the most playable characters), as well as inherently lending themselves toward the sort of competitive play the Battle Arenas represent. But this is just a guess, of course!

Pfft. You kids don't appreciate the classics. :P Stripe appears only in the first Gremlins, not in Gremlins 2.

From what I was told, it wasn't even normally stocked in LEGO Stores at all, at least in the U.S.; it was an online-only exclusive. Outside the U.S., though, it apparently was much easier to get - not only sold in stores, but available for months. -
Cool! And hi, and welcome aboard! Any chance of confirmation of same for Supergirl?

I still haven't found a video where they say those Promo Packs are exclusive to E3. I know they're available there, but do we know for sure that's the only place they'll be? Same here! I think there's just been so much to talk about, what with all the exciting new franchises and all, that we haven't even gotten around to discussing the four-player aspect, but I for one am quite happy about that addition as well. I, too, hope four-player makes its way out beyond just these battle arenas, though even if that's the only part of the game that ever gets it it's still a major improvement.

I hope the four unnamed new IPs include at least one more LEGO original, like Elves or Bionicle. I can understand that fear, but remember, we actually already know that DC Comics, at the very least, is getting those two new Promo Packs, with Supergirl and Green Arrow (and of course that's not counting Teen Titans GO! or The LEGO Batman Movie, which appear to be treated as completely separate franchises as far as LEGO Dimensions is concerned). Those Promo Packs both have the new orange toy tags, which indicates they'll unlock a DC Battle World, or whatever it's called. That means either there are more DC packs on the way, since they surely wouldn't create not only the two minifigures and toy tags, their in-game counterparts, but also the entire Battle Arena World thingy for DC Comics just for two ultra-rare, ultra-limited convention promos, or those two Promo Packs aren't going to be as limited as we've been fearing they might, and they'll indeed turn up at Toys 'R' Us or something. Or better yet, both. Either way, it's good news. Gizmo's legs are indeed white, though. I don't see why these wouldn't be the final ones - they're just plain, simple, short white legs, and aside from printing toes on his feet there really isn't anything that can be done with them to make them any closer to the "real" character. They don't match the brown of his body because the "real" Gizmo has a patchy, calico-like fur pattern, with both white and brown. If you mean they don't match the white print on his torso, well... that's an issue we often see whenever lighter colors are printed onto darker brick colors, but here it would be an issue with the torso, not the legs.

Nexo knights :) That's a current theme, but not a licensed one. Elves is another homegrown LEGO-original theme that might work, as is Bionicle. Other current licensed themes include tons of Disney-owned ones, notably the Marvel Comics universe and Star Wars, as well as Disney Princess and various other things.

Wait, what?! Where?! Edit: never mind, I see it now! I somehow skipped right past that whole picture. Man, he looks fantastic!

Isn't this the "actual" discussion thread? I suppose they both are actual discussion threads - but this is actually the first. There are probably two such threads because the person who started the other one didn't notice this one.

They could easily spend more than two years on it. Heck, they could just devote one year to each major era / crew, and have enough just with that to keep it going five or six years while only just scratching the surface. It's not going to happen, though (at least not in that way), until Mega Bloks's license lapses. That said, as long as there is this split between the film and TV rights, I wonder whether LEGO could at least start doing the movies, if not the shows...
-
With Disney possibly coming aboard, and the 1980s loving such a fruitful source of themes for the game, I wonder whether we might get Who Framed Roger Rabbit...

Whoa, those new animals are nifty! Are they going to be actual elements soon?!
-
I pretty much agree, except... Actually, who does have Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles now? I know LEGO had it just recently, but only for two years; someone else has already taken over that franchise - was it Mega Bloks again? I forget, but I know it's not LEGO...
