Initially tried to make him with unmodified parts, but couldn't get them to fit beneath the hood so gave up! He's pretty simple really, the eyes are the small ends of a binoculars piece ( had to cut these off) though some tubing would prob work just as well. These are then glued onto a plain minifig head. The snoot is just an arm, again slightly trimmed at the shoulder then glued onto the head. Hey presto Garindan! And only have to modify a couple of parts Oh and great grevious shot Wayno, lovely composition and focus

Glad you like it Kim- I had to use some glue to put him together... Thoroughly deserving of the special name tag now! It is a shame they've not yet done an official Lego version. Im sure by the time the 40 year Star Wars anniversary comes round we'll get one

If I told you my secret i'd have to kill you... Nah not really- Its the worst kept secret ever! I use a torch app on my ipod touch to light all my indoor shots, gives off a really nice adjustable light perfect size for lego as well. Its all about the lighting takes a bit of plying round with to get a good shot, but since I started using it as a lighting source a couple of years ago I continually get people asking me about how I achieve the lighting on my shots. Its so marvelously low-tech, I love it And it means I can now knock out a shot really quickly, just need a bit of A4 plain white paper and your off. With having an 8 month old baby around its perfect as I rarely have long to play around with my photography these days- hence the lack of outdoor shots from me at the moment. Anyways Im ramblng now Here's another new one from me, I know nothing for ages an then loads come along at once... The more you tighten your grip, Tarkin, the more star systems will slip through your fingers by smokebelch, on Flickr A much better hair peice for Grand Moff I think, never did like the standard Lego hair on him. Edit: Oh and lovely AT-ST shot Wayno- really striking image

This is awesome! Really like this a lot, great way to display Jabba. Love the way you've managed to get a lot of figs on here as well, yet it doesn't feel cramped. And great use of Indys whip for Jabba's pipe

Thanks CommanderFox & Brickdoctor Yeah pretty much a point and shoot- its a 'bridge' type camera which means its has a fixed lens, but still allows me to play round with settings a bit. Was only £140, and that was a couple of years ago now. Keep thinking about getting a DSLR at some point... but to be honest im pretty happy with what I can get from my excisting camera

Thanks for posting sok117. The last one with the Tauntaun is my favourite. If I were to offer any advice id would say it would be to maybe look at your composition/framing of your shots, the low angle on the last shot makes it stand out, but the trouble with that can be when unwanted things like fences pop up in the background. Just have fun with it though and play round- and take lots of shots and just see what looks good Some new ones from me- Been playing round with Dengar- was never happy with the smiley face/ ninja mask combo on the official figure. Used to use the scarred Anakin head, but decided to update him slightly. And seeing as I was shooting Dengar thought id take some more Bounty Hunter portraits... Haha- The clouds are my favourite part! This one is just a B+W recrop of an old shot from a couple of years ago, really loved the clouds on it as I think it gives it a wonderful sense of scale given the figures are so small, often when I do beach shots its a clear blue sky, but that can sometimes look like the figs are just in front of a blue bit of card. The original version is up somewhere near the beginning of the thread. I did get a couple from yesterday i'll post up soon, but most didn't turn out well cause the sun dissapeared, but thats the usual problem with the UK weather

Well as an owner of the last minifig scale falcon I gotta say I quite like the look of the new one. Not a huge differance, but some nice tweaks here and there. A lot of bits could do with a mod, but that is whats great about Lego in the first place And its nice to see its availible again for people who missed out on the other versions, If I didn't already have one id pick this ome up in a shot. Love the Ewoks in the Endor set, and nice to see a Speeder Bike included- but the 'tree stump' thing is pretty boring. Be getting the set for the minifigs alone though. Mind you the stump will make an Ok addition to the Bunker set. Shame there's not more OT sets, but I guess there's still Echo Base to be revealed...

Which is your favourite upcoming Lego minifigure in 2011?
smokebelch replied to commanderneyo's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Gotta be Logray for me. Always my fav ewok- not quite as cute as the other ewoks (which is a plus), and the headdress is awesome. All round great looking minifig -
Nice shots Wayno, WampaStompa and fenris A quick new/old one from me. Been reading the behind the scenes books form Empire & SW (the Empire one came out end of last year), and they are filled with wonderful B&W behind the scenes shots. Particully liked the tatooine ones, so had a trip out to the beach today... But as usual mostly scuppered by the weather! A few shots are salvageable, but really didn't manage to get what I was after. So thought id have a play round with one of my old shots- and liked how this one came out Sandtroopers by smokebelch, on Flickr

thats the understatement of the year! Heheh Balakov is one of the reasons this thread excists! Been taking shots of my toys for a couple of years, but wasnt until I came across Balakov's flickr stream that the inspiration hit to start photographing my lego. Dunno why id never thought of it before... Posted a link before for his stuff, its really very highly recommended- he's the master of this stuff Wow lovely Dewbacks shot Venerable Zaius I do like me some dewback action- and thats a mighty fine collection you have there! And welcome to the forums! Look forward to more shots Continuing with a Sandtrooper theme, finally picked up some printed pauldrens for my sandtroopers. Seeing as the weather is rubbish thought id do a different shot to my usual beach/tatooine location. Sandtroopers by smokebelch, on Flickr

Nice shots WampaStompa Love the black background with the figs emerging from darkness, and the crispness of your shots, great stuff. Quick Boba shot from me. Finally got around to picking up a new Fett from bricklink, don't know what took me so long to get one... was never really blown away with the new version. Now that I finnally have him I really like him- and much prefer the Arealight Jet Pack to the official one, some say it looks too big but I think its pretty much perfect.
