Had a small re-edit to brighten up the TIE a piece- Still a bit dark, but to be honest I like the darkness of the picture, there is a bit more definition to the back wing, but its always gonna look different on different monitor set-ups. That's no moon! by smokebelch, on Flickr And a quick TIE Pilot shot, as he was hanging round whilst I was taking the TIE Fighter photos the other night The Empires Finest by smokebelch, on Flickr

Yeah the old TIE mini looks so much better in grey- haha and swapping the cockpit over was the first thing I did when I got the interceptor set Really need to pick up another from Bricklink at some point. Know what you mean about the back wing, did have a play round with moving the lighting around to get more of the tie to show up- trouble with the back side of the wing being all black against a black background Good idea with the lightsaber- will have to give that a try at some point

Wonderful shot Lobot The lighting is perfect- really feels like the scene from Empire! One more from me- Im still playing round with the Death Star, and tweaked the last mini TIE with grey and the cockpit piece from the new Interceptor. TIE Fighter by smokebelch, on Flickr

Yeah some really nice atmosphere on the Stormtrooper shots Darth Yogi Here's one from me- Vader by smokebelch, on Flickr No real editing done on this- the Lightsaber is being lit up by the old Light-Up lightsaber Darth who is hanging off the end just out of shot! Did try this method to light up the sabers in my Lego Star Wars shot- unfortunatly couldn't get luke's to show up, and looked a bit weird with just Darth's glowing, so thought I'd save it for another shot

Thanks again guys, Was flattered to have been asked For all my early shots, really only ever used to adjust the contrast and brightness ever so slightly- and maybe a small crop. So really nothing much done to it at all. Over the last year or so have been editing my shots on my iPad with a couple of editing programs. Most I still just edit with basic Contrast/brightness tweaks, though some now I have a bit more of a play round with. Only so much as in tweaking colours etc of what is already there though, like to try and capture what is actually there in camera- dont really 'add' any scenery etc to the shots. The one exception would be the stars to the latest shot recreating the old Star Wars Lego logo- but other than the stars everything else caught in camera, and didn't really do any adjustments to this one apart from that. Thanks Praiter People often ask if im gonna get a proper DSLR as I've been into photography for 5 years now. But you know Im still really happy with the results I can get with my point and shoot, so I cant see anything changing for the forseeable future. And yeah I really hope I show that anyone can get some nice looking shots out of pretty much any camera Haha cheers Oky, I know its disgusting- but I should point out I neither Smoke nor Belch... Actually I have been known to omit the odd belch But I definatly don't smoke really is too late to change it now so im kinda stuck with it. A little addition to my user name is the music track that I took it from features factories with smoke coming out of the chimneys on the sleeve- ie smoke belching from the chimney stack... But im aware that that is NOT the image that most will think of when visualising my username Also quite like the fact that when you google 'smokebelch' it comes up with my flickr homepage first now, before the links to the 'sabres of paradise' track! -
Cheers Oky & Brickdoctor Yeah the sabers bug me- that was the main thing I was trying to get 'lit-up', was a pay off with getting the figures and the death star lit and some light through the lightsabers. Trouble with my one source lighting Did have a bit of a play round with them when I was adding the stars, but just couldn't get them looking good- Im really not all that good at 'photoshopping', always looks really fake. Unfortunatly really not a fan of the prequel trilogy and don't own any of the figures- so alas will not be doing that logo. Im sure one of the other great photographers on here will be able to give it a shot though

Just seen the terribly sad new that Ralph MaQuarrie has passed away. This is the man who is responsible more than any other for the 'look' of Star Wars, and his conceptual designs were the basis for pretty much all the iconic characters from the original trilogy. A truly amazing artist, and a huge inspiration on my own photography of my Star Wars toys. RIP Ralph. Bit more info here- http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-17249596 And check out some of his work here- http://www.ralphmcquarrie.com/

Here we go LSW by smokebelch, on Flickr Had a bit of a play round with a starry background for this one too, think it turned out ok. I havn't slavishly stuck to the exact positiong of the original image- mostly cause as they are cartoons it'd be impossible! and also wanted a bit of a 'smokebelch' stamp on it Also had to remove Darth's cloak as it covered up the stormie too much- and had to cheat a bit with artoo... Hope you guys like it

Thanks for the kind words guys Nice to let you all know a bit more about me- the internet can be quite 'faceless' sometimes- haha so you get to see behind the mask (quite literally ) Really do appriciate all the feedback I get from you guys on my shots. Haha, my pleasure! Been meaning to do a 'sigfig' for a while. Bought the skater minifig as the head is a dead ringer for me- and who doesn't love a big Gorilla -
Yeah im sure I've seen a version somewhere too. Been having a play round this morning setting the shot up. Done a couple of test shots, and looking ok- kinda hard getting the figs in a decent position so you can see them all. Will need to wait for darkness now so I can get some shots done- bit frustrating as Im ready to go Unfortunatly the 'blackout' curtains we bought for the bedroom do nothing of the sort! Hopefully be back tomorrow with the results....

Who let that wild animal loose in the studio?!?! Thanks for the interview guys, was honoured to have been asked And great studio shots Oky They are perfect -
Thanks I find that the chrome Vader is really hard to light well, esp how I light my stuff with the iPod. Must have taken over a couple of hundred frames, and this was the best of the bunch. Haha I'd forgotton about that! It must have subliminally been the inspiration behind the framing of my shot though Yeah I'll definatly have a go at a fleshie recreation...

Thanks so much for all the comments on my shot Really glad you dig it! Been playing round with this one for ages, just couldn't get one I was happy with. The Chrome Darth is really hard to get lit right, he's all 'speckly' but kinda makes him look a bit dusty- always a bugbear of mine if there is dust on the figs Tried it with regular Darth as well but just didn't look as nice. Still not quite 100% the image I was after, but thought i'd post it up as was driving myself insane trying to capture each evening! As always just lit with my iPod touch, the figs are just stood on a small table with the Death Star behind, camera aimed upwards in a dark room- shot pretty much as it out of the camera, just a small edit to get rid of the table at the bottom of the frame.

Hey guys, Not 100% sure anyone hasn't already posted this up- but just seen it on vimeo and made my jaw drop so thought it could do with its own topic A digital stop motion assembly of the Ultimate Collectors Falcon- Possibly better suited to the brickfilms thread- though to be honest I don't often look there so thought more would see it here. Seriously this must have taken forever to make... Very impressed! Edit- Haha knew it would have been posted somewhere here- just seen it on the blog... Oh well Can't see a post already for it though, and I think it deserves one

Jabbas Palace is looking fantastic! So much better than the prelims. Thanks for the video link, was just gonna say that it looked like Oola was hidden under Jabba Really does look like Lego would be able to make a Rancor Pit set down the line as well, would sit right under the palace.... Oooh just noticed a printed 1x1 round tile for the thermal detonator as well!
