Usually I keep my MOC's together long enough so I can take pictures of them. After that, the pieces go right back where they came from, whether from sets or from my parts bins.

Come on, most of the titans we have had in the last few years totally blow Icarax out of the water. Especially Maxilos and Spinax. *sweet* Anyway, I voted for Antroz. He is one of the finest canister set villans we've had in years, in my opinion. I love almost everything about him. Even the tridax pod doesn't look as bad as it did before, although I hate how the body is open at the back. *hmpf* Hm, seems that Pohatu is winning in this poll. Can't disagree with that - he's the best toa this year, by far. *thumbup*

WHAT?! How dare you insult gracious greebling! *angry* And you call yourself a lego builder.... *tongue* Anyway, this kit is awesome, seriously. Awesome design, lots of detail, tons of moveable joints - and of course, awesome lightsabers! Yet another kit I'll be adding to the list of "things that Grevious wants but can not get." *hmpf_bad* *tongue* Okay, first of all, this is not a technic set. I'd say 75 percent of it is system parts, with only a quarter being technic. Second, what's wrong with those starwars technic sets? They were really well designed and had lots of great parts! Or, do you just not like technic at all? In that case, I'm sure someone here is not going to be happy with you.... *tongue*

Woah. That is a NICE plane! Love the little wheeled vehicles too. Yeah, the same figures again, but seriously, people are gonna be buying this for the plane. *tongue*

Well, yeah, of course. I meant that in the last few years, every canister set line has had at least one or two kits that aren't that great. In 2007 we had Pridak and Hewkii. 2006 it was Hahli Inika. And now in 2008 we have half the mistika and Kopaka. Of course it wasn't like this in the very begining, but now it is. *sadnew* Anyway, I noticed that several people asked me about why I dislike Icarax so much back a page or two ago. It seems that a lot of people like him, and to tell you the truth, I really can’t understand it. To me, Icarax has a bunch of good ideas in him that were all executed poorly, and he has very few redeeming qualities. Firstly, the legs and feet really need some work. I appreciate that the designers were trying something new instead of the basic design used in titans these days, but honestly, they implemented it poorly. The Nuparu claws look slapped on, and the blades protuding out of the back of the feet give them an odd look. Then there’s the lower torso – oh how I hate that lower torso. From what I can tell, the designers were trying to put some extra bulk on Icarax’s lower body, while also giving the legs better stability. Well, they failed miserably. I can tell the bionicle comics that the red Metru armor piece protrudes out a lot more than it should, giving Icarax a sloppy look. The main problem though is that the extra beef doesn’t look good when attached to the Tridax pod body, which is super thin at the bottom and isn’t bulky enough for a titan the size of Icarax. Grevious is not pleased. *hmpf_bad* The arms and weapons are a whole ‘nother story. Unlike the legs and feet, which tried to have some originality, Icarax’s arms are just plain old Inika arms. And they don’t even look good, as they contrast with the bulkiness of the legs. I also hate how the gear function is implemented by using that awful Hordika arm piece, because it leaves Icarax without an actual hand - just a stub where a hand should be. And about that gear function – Frankly, it doesn’t matter to me whether titans have them or not, only how they are implemented. And since this gear function leaves Icarax without a left hand, I’d rather have him without it. Finally, the sword. Oh man, I haven’t seen such a slapped on piece of weaponry in ages. Basically, you’ve got two Hewkii staves with two Ehlek claws. No detail pieces. No originality. Just a silly haphazard sword. *thumbdown* Honestly, the only things I do like about Icarax are his wings and the fact that he’s wearing the mask of shadows. But those two things aren’t going to make me buy him, and the shoddy design sure isn’t. I’ve seen now that Toa Ignika and Mutran&Vican are far better choices, as they combine good piece selections and exclusive masks with decent design. Icarax – not so much. *sick* ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Warning: Above post has extremely outspoken opinions that may incite outrage in readers. *tongue*

True, the limbs are thinner, but I don't see why you think they look less ape-like than the final kopaka's. I mean, they are the EXACT SAME LENGTH. But maybe I'm missing something, I dunno. Maybe it's because the different body looks better with those legs, but I dunno. :-/ Actually, though, I didn't miss the second half of the post. I didn't respond because IMO, it would be just as good whether you changed the weapons on the prototype design or the final. Both would be improved massively - the real reason why I refuse to buy Kopaka is because he doesn't have anything other than a midak. Sadly, I really don't think TLC cares, as the Mistake-a show. It seems that TLC like to make Toa rely on massive guns instead of handheld weapons. |-/ This is where I can not agree with you. While I agree that the Inika were great, I really love the Mahri far more because they actually seem to look more heroic than the Inika, in my opinion. Take Jaller. I really think that he is one of the most amazing fire toa we've had in all the years of bionicle. More than Vakama. More than Jaller Inika. I simply love him, because he conveys everything a fire toa should. He has a wonderful color scheme that harkens back to Tahu. He has a giant fire sword. And his mask - man, it's simply amazing. I mean, it really looks like fire, and it has a decent face as well. That and the wonderful crab makes him to me the best fire toa since the original Tahu - which can't really be beat. And of course, I can't really see how Kongu Mahri looks far more villanous than Kongu Inika. Kongu Mahri = average mask shape. Kongu Inika = giant frog face. Then again, he and Hahli are the only two that have bad masks in their inika form, to me. And then Hewkii and Matoro Mahri have the worst masks in 2007. Argh, can't TLC have a toa line where all 6 are awesome?! *sing* Wait a minute - how does making him thinner make him blend in more with the rest? I mean, Lewa and Pohatu aren't exactly thin either. Could you explain please? 8-| Sorry if this sounds a little rushed - it is, so I may not have worded everything right. :-/

Honestly, I don't really see what you see in him that you don't see in the final set. Aside from the new body and a different body design, he's almost the same, shape wise. He still has the same feet, almost the same wings and mask, and aside from that tiny mantax claw, he's still the same under-armed toa he's been this year. :-/ That's not to say that I like the final kopaka much better, though. The final kopaka wins only slightly because his mask is slightly better and the chest armor looks a lot more held together (on prototype kopaka, the metruan armor just doesn't look nailed down enough for some reason). In fact, he really is a sign of how the canister sets of 2008 are extremely boring in design. I like the inika design, actually, but it's been used way too much since 2008. Kopaka and Lewa have the EXACT SAME DESIGN, except for the shoulder armor and the new back armor - er, Inika shoulder piece. *sad* I really miss 2007, because that to me was a turning point in Bionicle set design. The barraki were amazing in design, each with different body designs and unique shapes. Mantax was hunched over and built like a tank, like a giant manta ray - Takadox was super slender and angled, like a preying mantis, etc. The mahri were not quite as good, but again, they all had unique features. Jaller has his crab and unique chest armor, Hahli had her wing pack, Matoro had his hunched over design, Kongu had his bulky, rifle man design - etc. Now - look at 2008. All the toa except kongu use the same basic body and limb design. All the winter makuta have the EXACT same body. It's really disapointing, considering how creative they got with 2007 sets. |-/

You, my friend, score massive props from me for using Bionicle parts so well in System based MOC's. And what's this? KK and GALIDOR too?! More massive props to you. *sweet* What I love about your designs is that you're totally willing to try something new. One second it's treaded attack robots, the next second it's a galidor walker. I love all of this. *y*

Very cool alternatives. I think the first is my favorite, but they are all great! Maybe you could do some alternatives for the tower too? ;-)

Just because we have new Toa each year hardly means a theme is the worst. Besides, Bionicle has an incredible amount of variety in it's kits - how can you say that the Barraki are the Piraka with new masks? Even the toa are totally different each year - The toa this year, which are new versions of old characters - look nothing like the Nuva from 2002. |-/ Besides, one could use the same unbased argument to say that starwars is the worst theme - "oh, look, it's just the same ships and characters every year." Of course, this argument doesn't make any since, since starwars also has an incredible amount of variety as well. :-P Come to think of it, I've heard that complaint on these very boards before - "Why does TLC keep remaking the same starwars ships instead of making new ones?" The answer of course, is that the remakes are usually far better than the older versions. Nothing wrong with it then, is there? ;-)

Late again. *sing* Oh well, at least we know you had a happy birthday - since ol' Ras was with him. :-P Happy belated birthday! ;-)

Woah, now THAT is something. So this means Batman means something else in signapore? X-O I'd start this off with a laughing smiley, but since this is his real name I don't want to be insulting. 8-| ~~END~~

Yes, exactly! *y* Your special designs are great too, Salvobrick. All these cute cars are awesome! *sweet*
-
I'd have to disagree - I think he's really quite ugly. :-X Still, it is cool to see how the Kopaka of 2008 came to his latest form. It almost looks like Kopaka's prototype mask is a modified Great Ruru. At least the jetpack designs are really cool. :-)

Hm, interesting. I guess I'll just have to wait and see... my dad hasn't even loaded anything from the backup yet because he's had to get all the important programs installed first. Man, what a mess. *wacko*
-
Well, this morning I listened in horor as my mom told me that our computer's hard drive crashed. *sad* Fortunately, my dad keeps a backup of the entire hard drive. Unfortunately, he hadn't done for a couple weeks, and in the process I lost photos of a Bionicle creation I now have taken apart. *sing* Oh well, at least we got a new computer out of it - although I'm not totally sure about Windows Vista yet... I heard it has terible compatability. 8-|

Hm, some april fools joke - most of it is true! *wacko* But man, I sure hope TT isn't leaving - Eurobricks needs our favorite joker to stay! *sing*

Then it's a good thing I didn't do another unprofessional one this year like I did two years ago, back when I was the noob in residence. X-D
-
Hahaha - um, no. I've fallen for enough of these to know when they're fake. Nice try, though :-P

Well, yesterday I opened the second of the bionicle kits my mom purchased for me on my request. Working outside really did pay off - even if it did make my arm feel horrible today. :-P As I expected, Antroz is the best of the winter Makuta. Not as much because he's really special, but more because the rest just aren't that great. Vamprah looks incomplete with his stubby legs and slapped on wings, Chirox just looks silly with his ridiculously long monkey arms that make the Inika's seem mild in comparison - and Icarax, well, he's just a mess. :-X Okay, so that's all my opinion, but it seems that Antroz and Mutran are the only Winter Makuta I like, and Mutran is the only other one I'll probably ever get. Oh well, at least the Winter Toa are all good. :-/ :-P

Sorry, but the folder is still not moderated. From what I can tell from that one picture though, this looks good! I'll check back later. ;-)

Great stuff, Paul! Love the trailer and car designs, and the Dalek is really neat! (and I haven't even watched Dr. Who! *wacko* ) Now, I'd like to see someone do the same thing, but make a compact truck instead. Anyone up to it? ;-)

It's easy to see why Tren Krom sounds a lot like something from classic fiction - Greg himself said that TK is in a sense his nod to H.P.Lovecraft. A giant eyed tentacled mass of tissue isn't exactly a new idea, although it's great to see something like that in Bionicle. *y*
-
Yes, I agree. It seems that the quality of Bionicle pieces has really degraded this year.... |-/

My Town. Finally, I finished my layout! I think it's looking pretty good considering that it's pretty small. :-)
