  1. Yeah. I was about ready to MAUL Gamespot when they only gave LSW II a tenth of a point higher rating than the original, despite all the improvements and new features (no pun intended). :-P
  2. Great news, Legomilk! I have a feeling this topic may be merged with the older one, but still, thanks! ;-) One thing that kinda bothers me is how this particular site with the interview seemed to be taking lots of shots at LSW. "Not the deepest of games" and "lacking good platforming" doesn't describe LSW at all. Oh well, I guess not everyone likes it as much as we do! :-P
  3. Eh, sorry, but can't really agree with you there. Yes, I know the voices in the current bionicle movies are awful, but that was because the movie script was far worse than in the regular books and because they didn't have any good voice talent. :-/ Also, what do you mean about visual stories being about action and making you think? I'm not sure what you mean about that.... *wacko* My main problem with mute Bionicles is that, IMHO, they don't really convey emotion much at all. Books only carry emotion because they have description along with dialogue, and Movies only convey emotion because of acting and voice talent, so without either it would kinda seem less hearty to me. :-/ What this 2009 movie needs is a totally different outlook than the last 3 movies. Whoever is writing the script for them needs to be fired (and no, it's not Greg), and they need to get someone who knows how to convey emotion through the script. They also need voice talent that can convey the script well, instead of just mumbling through the whole thing (and when I mean mumbling, I mean failing to actually show any emotion at all). Unfortunatley, I just don't know if that will happen... :-(
  4. Eh? Sorry, but I don't get what you're talking about. Are you talking about the Phantoka, or have you seen the Mistika? *wacko*
  5. Well, I did, of course, but I thought Templar did flash animations, not CGI? And of course, flash wouldn't work for a blockbuster production, IMO. :-P No, I think Ghost or a company like them would have to do it. They are masters at CGI, seriously. *y*
  6. Nah, that's just what the 8-10 year olds that "call" themselves MOCists do. :-P And no, this problem is not exclusive to BZP: just look at all the kids on the official lego site who post silly "MOCS" like crazy at their awful message boards. And half of those guys probably don't even know what BZP or Eurobricks is... *wacko*
  7. Wow, I'm speechless... so here's my reaction spelled out solely in emoticons: *wacko* 8-
  8. Great interview as always, Staudie. :-P Suprising to learn that a SPACE fan loves Cafe Corner so much, but then again, I haven't seen a person who even begins to HATE that work of art. *sweet* I can be focused. In fact, I can be so focused on something that I can't think of anything else, at least until something else catches my eye. Oh, wait, I guess I'm confusing that with OBSESSION. |-/
  9. I bet many of you remember a thread some time ago where about a zillion of hilarious pictures of cats got posted. You don't? Oh, well, anyway, just follow along then. :-P Starting off, here's some pictures I got sent via the email. I don't know where they're from or who took them, but they sure are great. *y* :-P
  10. Nah, I think it's more that kids just don't look at enginers and computer programers as real life role models any more. These days, kids rely on movies, TV, and music as the prime sources of truth in life. Now all the guys want to be rappers and all the girls want to be Paris Hilton. Not to mention that mindless violence trumps all other things in enjoyment factor. :-/ However, I don't think Bionicle has gone that way yet. The storyline rarely emphasises all the new launchers as a major part. The entire 2007 storyline had, like, 3 references to cordaks in the books and serials. You never even see half the Mahri fire a shot except in a non-violent manor (destroying the tunnel connecting Voya Nui to mahri nui). Also, exploration and revalation still has a major part in the storyline. In BL 3 for example, much of the book is spent showing how the Inika adjust to their new, unusal forms, and their efforts to rescue the Voyatoran and Toa Nuva. There's several fights, yes, but it's not all spent shooting at each other. ;-) Indeed. I know, I don't like swearing period, but I don't go around criticizing people for it, unless it's used in such a careless and downright immature way like this. If you want to swear, fine, but making it a huge part of your post doesn't necessarily show maturity at all. |-/
  11. Eh, not really sharing the love. The only thing that would even make me remotely want to purchase Icarax would be to get the mask of shadows that I missed out on back in 2003. To me, he's just another mediocre titan with a mediocre design. |-/ BTW, new info from the Greg Q&A topic on BZP revealed that the MOMN will NOT be in set form this year, and that there will be at least two more Matoran included with sets. So, this means that Maezeka is NOT the MOMN, and that it is possible that whatever the set is, may include a Matoran as well, as all the other sets have been seen, and we only have one so far (Vultraz). Unless there's an exclusive we have yet to learn about... *wacko*
  12. Nah, they're just doing another mediocre straight to DVD movie for the current storyline. Not that I don't like the current storyline, but I really don't have much hope for the new movie, especially if they don't get some decent voice actors. *sad*
  13. Sadly, since everything TLC makes for Bionicle is solely to promote the sets, a movie based on the original storyline won't happen if it was made by TLC itself. My idea really would be for an outsider to buy the rights to make a Bionicle movie, and work on it separate from TLC. TLC would get an initial payment and a share of the profits from the movie, and the movie makers would get the rest. However, this would only be feasable if TLC would profit from the deal as well. :-/ Unfortunately, the problem with Bionicle kits are that they don't give much emotion right out front, so an extremely true to set design wouldn't work that great. Still, I agree that the Ghost animation is better than the actual DVD movies out right now: they never really captured the spirit of Bionicle, and the voice acting was extremely forced. |-/ I think the best approach would be to stick with the basic set designs, and only streamline them instead of completely changing the designs. They would have to add mouths in order to convey dialogue well, but it wouldn't be hard to make the masks work around them while keeping their original shapes. ;-)
  14. Er, first of all, the game got delayed to March 9. Second of all, what's wrong with Sonic and Diddy? The Donkey Kong Country series has lacked a character besides DK for two Smash Bros. games, so Diddy should be welcome. And Sonic was the single most wanted character for Smash overall, and since Sega and Nintendo are on good relations now, so why shouldn't they have put him in? :-/
  15. Summed up my thoughts pretty well. The differences in the Toa Mata were nothing compared to the uniqueness of each Barraki and Mahri when compared to each other. Plus, they had a ton of awesome parts, some cool faces and masks, and in the case of the Barraki, the coolest canisters since the original 2001 containers! *wub* The only real cons I saw in the Barraki and the Mahri as a whole were the awful launchers and plastic half shells that were the Mahri containers. Individually, I hated Pridak's awful design, disliked the Banana peel color on Carapar, and hated Hewkii's new mask. But, they still were awesome. *sweet*
  16. Hey, oo7, you posted my old thread! ;-) But, yeah, as I realized after posting my thread suggesting this kind of line a while ago, REAL war themes from any age probably won't ever be made by lego. Castle and Pirate kits only were made because they weren't based on any actual events, just the folklore and stories surounding them. ;-) I really like Athos' idea, though. A lego history event theme would be really cool. I'd particulary like to see a lego Thanksgiving feast at Plymouth, with new indian and Pilgrim minifigs, plus of course a ton of lego food and other acessories. :-)
  17. Hey, Kikui - there's these new things in Brawl. They're called Assist Trophies. :-P ;-) Non-joking, I actually love this new pokemon, since it's something totally different from the usual "pop out and attack" kind. ;-)
  18. Well, at least the latest MCDs toys had moveable limbs.... The Burger King promotions for the first bionicle movie made those look like a genius idea. :-|
  19. True that. Fortunately, they did have some great pieces and masks, so I did buy all of them, and have used their pieces in quite a few MOC's. Besides, nothing beats the Mahritoran in terms of design. Those guys are about the greatest small sets we've even gotten in Bionicle, IMO. And before anyone says "Mctoran!" remember that you didn't actually buy those in stores like every other small set line since that. ;-)
  20. That piece makes me want to drool... which makes it even cooler that we are getting a piece like that this year, though not necessarily in Bionicle: *wub*
  21. It's a possibility, but I wouldn't count it out quite yet, since this catalog is missing other stuff as well, like the large Coast Guard 4X4 and several summe starwars kits. ;-)
  22. TRANSMISSION SENDING TO IMPERIALSCOUTS: REBEL COMMANDER - SKZKZZ - Friends, I've nearly back to the rebel base, so I am going to take a weaving path to avoid the Imperial forces at the nearby planets. It'll be tricky, especially since they seem to be preparing to attack a nearby system, but as Master Yoda had said - do or do not, there is no try. So, I WILL make it back. Meanwhile, here is another part of the log of my escape: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The alarms sounded all around me as I maneuvered through the coridors of the Mustafar station. I could tell that several imperials were coming around the corner, so I took a side path - right into a small room containing an access computer. I had worked as a technician under general Grievous, so computers were nothing new to me, and I quickly hacked into the system. I had planned the next step of my escape to rely on stealing an Imperial craft that was about to take off, and sure enough a Landing Craft was being loaded with cargo at that moment. While I was hacking, however I noticed some obscure strand of data about Endor, which opened up a whole new world of info. Determined to take this data to my rebel friends, I moved east through the station, keeping sure to stay hidden. It was time to truly test my skills against the Imperials... TRANSMISSION ENDED
  23. Yesterday I bought Super Mario Galaxy for my new Wii, and I've been playing it nonstop ever since! I've got 25 stars so far, so I still have a LONG way to go... *wub*
  24. If you're talking about the younger members, yes, I would probably agree. However, there are a fair amount of teenagers there as well, and they overall are much better members than the young kids that swarm the board. Members like Nikara, Turaki#1Lavasurfer, Iruni Nuva, Spirit, Bionicle Guru, Lady Kopaka, and others have contributed a lot of neat stuff to BZP, and they don't usually do things like mini-mod or such. :-) The problem is that the 10 year olds common on BZP are immature, which is understandable, Unfortunately, it causes many problems on what would be an otherwise awesome board, IMO. Even the moderators have trouble keeping them under control, but fortunately they usually never visit Lego General Discussion, which means that it is the most mature part of the board, and also where I hang out when I go there. ;-) Er, yeah, now, were were we? Oh, right: These images of the Mistika are looking slightly better. As I suspected, the summer Makuta seem to have unique designs, cool parts, and best of all: NO tridax pods! *sweet* So, I might actually pick them up if my opinion stays this way. Gali and Onua... er, I can't really tell what to say about them, since they're hard to make out feature-wise. Come on, I want better pictures! *sing*
