  1. What about Bricksafe?
  2. As far as I have seen the other difference is age range. You cannot play with 8455 once you reach 99 years, if you have a yellow box. Black box does not forbid to do that
  3. Yummy. Looks like rear bonnet will be heavy too, knowing its original size, includint he spoiler.
  4. Check the post #101, #83. there are some variations of your initial design also.
  5. Well I quite disagree with you here, I've bought several flagships this year from different years, and boxes seem to be different all the time in any of three directions.
  6. Older Packaging would'nt safe those chromed coloured rims from being scratched anyway. 41999 has boxes of a smaller format and volume comparing to 9398 and its parts are stored pretty compact. So I don't see issues about 41999 here, but other flagships could use some of advanced packaging.
  7. Oh Yes, this one brought me out of dark ages. I know its look isn't very attractive due to high amount of DBG ir Black colour parts, but it has something special.
  8. My bad, shared wrong link. Correct one or you can search for 6062928.pdf
  9. Check Brick Owl
  10. Those groves are for rubber bushings. There are holes on top, not studs. You can connect a Technic brick or liftarm there with basic Technic pins.
  11. Well, I've found this some where on this forum - there is convenient way of removing ordered items from wanted list, not automatic, but still good: Got to your orders > Placed > There you'll find a "scroll" icon named "Items in Order in Wanted list" which you can click and remove the parts you just ordered.
  12. I'm affraid electric/control connections are unique to this series. Control & power box has stud-like connectors. These aren't compatible with old 9V cables as studs are slightly larger. Connector from motor side has contacts on its sides, but these are too far from each other so again, 9V isn't good for these. Well, I believe you can think of some way making an adapter with rubber coonectors. Problem here is not the adapter itself (something like 3x3 structure could be done), but making sure your adapter won't slide from super axle. Maybe two such parts per each side could be used.
  13. This part is only partially compatible with Technic part like liftarms, technic bricks and all sort of pins. Axles are like x3 times thicker than normal Technic ones, and whats more is that you need additional power and control unit and remote controller to opeerate it. To be short this part has very limited use on its own, without wheels and power unit.
  14. 8197, 9398, 8110, 8070, 8475, 41999, 42000, 42006, 8437, 8081, 8880, 8858, 8284, 8455, 8462, 8428, 8435 + few other Racers or non-Technic. That was a good year for the start!
  15. Hi Legowife, it depends what do you or your husband means by motorizing a set. There is official Power Functions add-on set 8293: With this add-on you will be able to motorize rear spoiler and engine hood only. If there is a need to motorize it for remote drive and control, you will need much of the parts and there will be a need for custom modification of a set.
  16. LukeWarmTea, I wonder why do you have such problem at all. Taking into account what you have stated on your Interests and if your parents accept you who you are - LEGO should just be a minor, "auto-accepted" thing.
  17. afol 1969, here are the correct links (it is easy to extract correct ones from above): MOCPlans Rebrickable
  18. Official LEGO models have not so rigid bodies, so they twist easily like when you have "suspension" without utilizing the actual suspension abilities. This MOC looks quite sturdy which is positive here and I really like its brutality. Basically model looks very good, but those headlamps... need improvement! Other than that I like how fast you are making your MOCs.
  19. The reason I said it had to be a success - you have los of parts, not just PF, which can be used to build other types of vechicles. And the original set isn't bad at all (Example from Australia), our LUG had similar event - kids enjoyed controlling vechicle remotely. I could only think if these kids won't be getting 9398 now, they'll buy them later like we do with 8880 or other classics. As for RC car, I didn't really mean new motors, we saw that two L motors when geared correctly can give quite a good results and fast going car. The important thing here is you could use them on LUG's public events to show what TLG is producing and that you can buy a copy for yourself. I even have an idea for next event here - make a vechicle using motors from 9398/41999 (2*L + servo). Btw, those old RC cars without Technic or system parts are actually Technic compatible.
  20. You might not like 9398's look, but I feel it was a huge success. Fully motorized model with lots of good parts. We definatelly need something similar, like rally car now?
  21. Oh there are lots of this kind of issues accross different themes! You, know, what if opposite sex (other than expected) likes the theme? Friends - girls only, no male figures! Bionicle/Hero Factory - no girlish figures! Technic - no pink/pastel colours and no female figures! System/City theme is kind of neutral. And I really don't think themes above have issues I've stated.
  22. Nice review Jim! Due to colors used in this set it reminds me 853 Auto Chassis.
  23. Well, it is similar, but I wouldn't say it is a copy.
  24. This isn't the only set having mini turtable.
