  1. Rey’s Speeder and Captain Rex’s BARC speeder with a sidecar maybe?
  2. Mixed thoughts on the set. I think the way it can come apart to replicate the gate splitting it in half is really cool. But I agree with the above that it doesn’t feel like a 300$ set. Some of the figures are really good but Jonathan, Steve, Robin and to an extent Nancy, just look way too generic. Jonathan and Robin especially look a little fan made? Agreed. Aside from the splitting apart feature there’s nothing truly special about this set. Nothing that says I have to buy it on Day 1.
  3. That’s what’s kind of bugging me. Something like the light-up lightsabers (there were only 5 of them I think?), appeared in regular/normal sets that were reasonably priced like the Wookie Catamaran or the 2005 Clone Turbo Tank. Whereas here the design of the X-Wing has been compromised to accommodate the smart brick. If you didn’t like the light-up lightsabers you could just toss the figure aside and you still had a really cool set to play with but here once you lose the smart brick you’re kind of left with an empty shell of a set.
  4. The Collection set sounds fine but also a little dull since it’s mostly an amalgamation of things we’ve seen before. It’s a shame they didn’t include a new figure like Nicholas Flamel or something.
  5. Really not sure about this whole Smart Brick thing. It is impressive that they’ve managed to get a large amount of stuff inside the figure and I suppose if I was a young kid having a figure that could make all sorts of sounds or quote dialogue from the films or whatever could be pretty cool but I just think with the prices and the excess printing I’ll probably pass up on these. Yeah I guess the good thing here is that they’ve chosen characters that we’ve seen many times before (some of which are still on shelves). I think what would kind of suck is if a character like say Episode 2 Anakin or Han in his Endor outfit or Phase 1 Captain Rex got the same treatment. Given all the sets seemed to be OT themed I’m assuming Palpatine would then come in a Final Duel set? Which would include Luke and Vader too. The other sets are from ANH/ESB so I’m assuming they’d want to do something ROTJ based as well.
  6. Sounds like a fairly solid lineup. Bit of a shame they’ve left Ron out of the Lovegood House and the three brothers as well. I feel like the Fat Friar may turn out to be another ghost since we’ve already got him in the Great Hall set.
  7. Agree with all of this. I feel like Starcourt Mall would be the most likely as the main cast are all present. But on the other hand Creel House is going to be present in Season 5 so I feel like they could do something similar to the 2019 but with Creel House and include characters from both Seasons 4 and 5 maybe? Plus it would give us a Veccna figure which we wouldn’t get if we got the Mall.
  8. The Potions Classroom seems like a bit of a gimmick set but looks as though it could also be a good parts pack if you wanted to expand the existing potions classroom. I wonder if they might do more these with other classrooms. Like I could see them doing a Mandrake that reveals a Greenhouse or a Goblet that reveals a Transfiguration classroom or something like that.
  9. Yeah, the price is the probably my main barrier here. I might wait until it’s discounted at some point to get it. Yes, quite a few of the rooms were done as dioramas. Part of me wonders how the set would have turned out if they’d taken an approach similar to the current Hogwarts by releasing different sections of the DS. Yeah if it was a lot cheaper it might have been more acceptable but for 1000 dollars this needs to be THE Lego Star Wars set. It should stand head and shoulders above the rest and be truly awe inspiring in some way like the Falcon was. I like the figure changes you made. I think it’s still insane they had a perfect C-3PO waiting to be used and threw in an inferior version. Good to see that the backdrop can be removed easily. There’s a lot more depth to the set than I expected. The leaks made it look really thin but there is a good level of detail in there. I also want to keep an open mind but that smart brick set doesn’t look great. If it looked like some of the previous X-Wing sets I suppose that would have been ok but this one looks more like the 4+ version. It feels like this smart brick thing might go the same way as Lego Dimensions - the sets will just be too expensive and not many people will buy them. The theme has survived for 25 years without needing light or sound bricks so I’m not sure why they suddenly need them now.
  10. What are people’s thoughts on the Death Star now that it’s out? I saw the set in person today and I must admit it’s kind of growing on me. I would have preferred it if they stuck to the spherical shape and too many of the figures need more detail but I don’t think it’s awful either.
  11. The helmet from the Mandalorian Battle pack has leaked. Looks like we could be getting Fives as well next year though I’m not sure where he would fit. Maybe the Clone Trooper Shock mech might actually be Fives?
  12. Looks pretty good. They seem to using the Rebels version of the AT-AT which is interesting.
  13. Some other general thoughts on the DS: - The probe droid looks ok but I think it could have used some printing on the head. - For the price of the set they could’ve added some greebling or something to the back of the set a bit more elegant. Maybe added some microscale X-wings and TIE fighters to represent the Battle of Yavin or a microscale Falcon and Executor for the Battle of Endor or something.
  14. Yeah I’m not sure what they were thinking with that GWP. Honestly some of the rooms do look really good but I just can’t justify paying so much for the whole thing.
  15. Yeah there’s been a big decrease in location based sets over the years. Yavin IV was pretty lacklustre and the next location set is $999. I like your idea for Yavin, you could do the same thing for something like Hoth too. Like maybe a Hoth medical bay as its own set (something they’ve done before), then the control room as separate set, and then the hanger and doors as another set etc. It’s the approach I wish they’d taken for the Death Star.
  16. I think there has been decent stuff but yeah I have found myself looking more and more at a lot of the older sets to buy. I agree with Kit Figsto about the pricing and I think I may wait until certain sets go on discount before purchasing them.
  17. Love this, especially the podium. Feels like the sort of thing BrickBrosUK would have done back in the day. It’s crazy they didn’t do a senate duel given it was the 20th anniversary of Sith.
  18. Yeah, aside from being big and containing 40 figures (many of which lack dual moulded legs) - what is the set really bringing to the table for $1000? Something like Ewok Village had never been done before and the D2C Mos Eisley Cantina was designed with an incredible level of detail featuring some long awaited characters and alien moulds. I’m sure it’ll obviously look impressive on display but at the moment it feels like the designers wanted to make more DS diorama sets but then decided to combine them all into one set.
  19. Not too sure how to feel about the smart brick. My worry is the precedence it sets. Sets like Ahsoka’s Jedi Interceptor or the 327th Battle pack are already quite pricey, I dread to think how much they would have cost if LEGO had put these smart bricks in sets like those.
  20. $100 for an X-Wing? That really is outrageous. That being said I am excited for the TIE Advanced since it’s been 10 years since we last saw it. Looks like some kind of control panel? Maybe the Death Star plans or something.
  21. It’s not a bad set per se but it just doesn’t feel like a $1000 set. The figures are under detailed and a lot of the rooms look quite cramped and small. I wish they’d gone down the route the Harry Potter theme has for Hogwarts and given us some individual sets that could be placed together.
  22. It looks ok but it doesn’t quite have that “wow!” factor that other D2C sets like Diagon Alley had though I can’t point my finger as to why. The minifigure range does look very good but since they were recreating the D.A. meeting scene they could have thrown in Fred and George and maybe someone like Nigel as well. Especially since George’s name is on the list Hermione is holding! I also think they could’ve maybe included Hagrid as well given he carries Katie back to the castle when she gets cursed. I’m wondering if they should’ve added the Shrieking Shack just to beef out the set a little more. It just feels like they haven’t quite gone all out.
  23. Vote: James Hammond (Trekkie99)
  24. There’s not many of us in this wee ship. And I feel they could go either way. Maybe they both be targeting a loyal or they wait and hop on an easy bandwagon.
  25. I apologise for my inactivity, I’ve been cleaning too many cannons lately. I think I’m going to Vote: Micheal “Navigator” Cassidy for what appears to be jumping on an easy bandwagon.
