How many do you need? I bought the tire and wheel assembly on bricklink for .01 a piece. I dont think you can find them cheaper than that?! I used the wheel assembly for my cannon wheels, and the tires for hats.

I dont know if I am more excited to see your port completed or mine! As always, great work, and the fact that you have an ungodly amount of LEGO doesnt hurt either!!! -
Yeah, that looks way better already!

I think almost everything has been commented on except the lighthouse! I really like that lighthouse you built! I plan on building my own soon, but yours really has an "authentic" feel to it. I like when an MOC like this comes out while I am working on something because it makes me feel like I have a certain standard to meet. Overall, I love the look of the buildings in relation to each other. I feel the space, ratio, and size is quite right for the size of the mini-figs. This whole MOC shows a lot of thought, and furthermore, a true dedication to the small details.

I grew up in South Haven, MI, so there were always Tall Ship festivals, reenactors, etc... (War of 1812, great lakes) Most of my inspiration as a kid came from movies. When I want to build something, I first decide what general idea I want. For instance, I want to build a fort. Then I ask what kind of fort? So I will do a google search for forts built during the pirate era. Sometimes you need to actually put dates in. I found this: Its Fort Mantanzas, which in Spanish means Fort Slaughter. It was built in the pirate era, and used by many different factions all the way past the civil war. I spend several weeks then deciding how I would build it. After that was decided, I started finding parts on bricklink and ordering them. However, as the parts arrived, I decided to modify the design of this fort and build my own. Fort Mantanzas inspired me to use sloped walls and multi-levels, but I took it to the next level and made my own design. It came out like this: Now looking at my fort, and the original, they really dont have a lot in common. Except that the front wall of the original and my have the same slope, height and ratio. However, after that I wanted to make mine more complex, and thus my MOC was born. I hope this wasn't too much info, but I wanted you to know what I was thinking as I built this. Why don't you find something you like, or something you think is cool, and try to figure out how to build it?

These are so cool! I have to get him to make me one! -Super

Any Idea When the Next Pirate Sets will be announced?
martinsuper replied to Dr. Steve's topic in LEGO Pirates
It does to me lady. Maybe you don't know it, but coat color is a very touchy and often fought about topic on this forum. In my port, the blue coats are the good guys, and the red coats are the bad guys. As a kid, I always saw them as Americans vs British. Some see them as French vs British. Anyway you slice it, the "coat" issue is a hot one. -
Other ideas are welcomed. Comments and reply are most welcomed. I like using the pirate hook to make bayonets... I didnt come up with this, it was FatJoe, or BigJoe, or some name like that. With this technique, no need to buy u-clips, and no need to use non-LEGO parts.

Check yourself before I WRECK YOU. HERE HERE!

Freakin Sweet! Make me one?!
-
Veru cool! I think your ratio from the hull to the sale is very good! Its a very pleasing to the eye ship.
-
No, I just think it would be cool if LEGO made them.
-
You know, I hate red coats... but I think I can tolerate you! Wouldnt it be awesome if we could? Especially if we were all assigned something to build for the project and then brought it together with our ships, armies, and such? It truly would be an amazing sight!

I probably have about 50 cannon total. It just hard to get a large amount that all look exactly the same. Between, old shooting, new shooting, non-shooting, cross-cannon, red base, brown base, blue base, and green base, there are a lot of different possible cannon combinations. Though I think I would like to see a black base for the cannons next.

Vintage Minifig V3 contains a BLUECOAT!
martinsuper replied to Commodore Hornbricker's topic in LEGO Pirates
I guess now he can be in more MOCs! Like, getting blown up, or drowning in a giant vat of melting Ice Cream.... Muhahahahaa! Naw... hes always been nice, so many he gets to live once I have my hands on him. -
I have more cannons for it, they are at home. It was suppose to look like a castle, and here is the original fort that started/inspired it for me. I was originally going to make a recreation of this fort, but as I started I went more with the multi-teered look.

Holy Jebus! This is huge and awesome! Its too bad we are all over the world, I think we could make something bigger and better than this! -Super

You are a dog with a peg leg and a pirate hat... and I'm the wierd one?! I just wanted it to look really blue... I could make it look more realistic, but hey, this is LEGO!
-
I see I am not the only one spending some time incorporating the old red coats and the new red coats. Very nice group you have there! Looks really good! I will probably have to breakdown and call those folks at Brick Arms sooner than later.

Holy cow! I loved Black Falcons, Blue Coats, and the Calvary guys, so this whole thing is a total package for me! -
Very very very cool! I really like the madular design. I also like seeing all the updates of items that will be going into your port. As I work on my port project, its cool to see what others are doing. I think I am going to go to a modular design on most of my latest projects as well. Simply for the fact that it is hard to go to brickworld with a Fort built on a 48x48 that is tall as sin. Anyways, I love the use of the color, and it really feel "real" to me. I look forward to seeing this in your overall port! -Super

EXACTLY. I could buy almost two Clippers for one Bounty... not quite an even trade, you know? -
That and a lot of Harbor Sentrys..... a lot.

Are you serious?! Really? To me thats like winning a contest! Yeah, I wanted it to look "playful". I originally wanted to make gun ports, etc... But then I realized that my vision here was to make a "blue fort", so I decided, why not make it blue?! I know what you are trying to say, and you are 100% right, but I think I like it better this way. -Super
