Hey Joey! Welcome back to the hobby that is more addicitive than illegal drugs! I also got back in with the return of the new line, and I also rode the wave of nostalgia. Be forwarned though! I have probably spent over $3000 this year alone riding that vicious wave! So, first thing is first. Make a budget as to what you are willing to spend monthly. DO NOT simply go buy things as you encounter them and like them. Second, you need to sort, clean, organize, and box your LEGO so that you can build easier. Post an ad on Craigs List in your area and start buying up used LEGO, this will save you a bundle. For good, clean, usuable LEGO I usually spend about $5 a pound. Got any other questions, lets me know. They call me the Black Sheep because I get into fantastically out of control arguements with LEGO when they dont give me exactly what I want. -Super

Remember that Target has the 10% sale of toy items over $50. I found that Soldier's Fort at $49.99 "technically" didn't apply, but I just argued until he gave it to me. Added to the gift cards I had left from the wedding and.... Soldier's Fort for $17 dollars! YAY! It's my second one too. I havent been using it as a modual (as it should be), but rather, using its buildings "off dock" in my port. -Super

So why don't you take the dimesions, and make an MOC ship out of it? It would be a very cool concept.

I think LEGO would be idiotic to end it. Where I live, the shelves cannot stay stocked, and the impulse sets are gone the same week they are brought in. We were all hoping for more sets and are keeping our eyes open for late fall/early winter pre-christmas sets to arrive. Pirate has a huge following, and I am hoping for and expecting more.

Yeah, I know LEGO stores have a better selection, but there isn't ONE in the State of Michigan. So Target it is. As for the in store discount, when I went online, they said all the stuff needed to be purchased "in store". So if for some reason they dont give you the discount, tell them the website told you to come and buy it in the store instead of ordering it. -Super

Yes this is Dubrovnik, but the section of wall I was thinking of would be Northeast of this section. Basically the Northeast corner of the city, where the cliff face is combined with fortifications. -Martin

Target has a sale right now, 10% off any toy purchase over $50. I enjoy target because I think they have the best LEGO selection. I happen to get $30 in gift cards, so I'm going to buy another Soldier's Fort for some minifigs, pieces, etc... -Super

AFOL Survey - July 2009 - send your feedback to the LEGO Group
martinsuper replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Pirates
Yes I know all of this, and I think its silly. Please refer to the timeless story of how I became the black sheep in the first place. Besides, I dont think that is a legal issue if lots of us want a blue coat/imperial ship and then they make one. -Super -
I would like to see this technique and style expanded to be built into an entire fort. I think it would look amazing. Reminded me a lot of sections of the fortress wall in Dubrovnik, Croatia. -Super

Imaginary ships.... Imaginary forts.... Imaginary docks... Must be a redcoat? To be honest, I don't have the patience (or skill) for those applications, Besides, with all the time you spend on those, you could get a part-time job and actually buy the bricks! -Super

I commented again about how I believe LEGO is incorrect to prevent their designers from interacting with consumers to build products that we want. -
St. Elizabeth Parish Church - Port of Brick Royal
martinsuper replied to Commodore Hornbricker's topic in Pirate MOCs
wow wow wow! I love this MOC so much. For one, the church looks well proportioned and a term that I would like to use, "LEGO scale". Meaning that if you built this church in "mini-fig" scale it would be massive, but since you built it in LEGO scale it captures the spirit of the original church and still looks normal. My favorite part is the drawn swords outside of the church. It is such a simple idea, yet done so well. I think the church looks all the much more better because of it. Also, admiral tunic with the plane black hat (Commodore?), do you have different ranks based on tunic, epaulettes, and hat combinations? Because that is how I differentiate my different ranks. Being a military historian, I though it was silly to only have soldiers, one officer, and then Admirals and Governors. -Super -
WOW! The allusive and ever wanted $900 cyprus tree! Makes the building look so much more expensive and like an accounting office!

What about the Battle of Lake Erie? With Superior ships, numbers, and the weathe gauge you still lost? Oh well, American had two wars with Britian and won BOTH. Excuses are only used when they suit you I assume. WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER. Grilled, not fried please.

France showed up in the end game, once the Colonies had already established themselves as a military power. What of the War of 1812? When the British and Americans were truly toe to toe, and again the British were beat. But this time, it was much more naval, and much more embarrassing to the proud British.

My blue coats are Americans! You know, those guys with pitchforks and shovels that beat your amazing red coats?

How large is your MOC going to be? My current (and constant) project is the harbor I want to build. So, the first step was to identify the parts of the harbor, how they would look, and how big it would all be. The dimensions of the harbor are 4 feet by 8 feet. So I used a peice of plywood, and made a table for the harbor. I used primer, and then had Menard's color match the paint on a LEGO blue baseplate. After that, I decided to build my harbor in three section. The first would be the entrance consisting of a fort/breakwater, a lighthouse, and a walkway to the lighthouse. The second sections would be the docks, and the third section would be correctly incorporations LEGO sets into the overall display. After this is all done, I am going to build another table, build a bridge out of LEGO to connect the tables, and build a trading post/town, with barracks, more forts, etc... The final part will be making a country scene with crops that also will be an excellant location for battles and the such. -Super

Simple question, got a simple answer?

Yeah, I was going to use them in a pirate MOC. I have to get the main structure done first, and then its off to my favorite bricklink stores to purchase more than a few of these. -Super -

I thought that was funny, don't let the LEGO Sith knock you down! Oh... I'm building... something..... big. It will appear in the pirate forum in the next couple weeks at the latest. ANOTHER QUESTION? But if you remove the top mount, doesnt a new set of stairs plug in directly to make it exactly 11 bricks? Meaning you could plug these together as high as you want to go, right?
